Might I suggest changing the heading at the top from 'temporary' to 'permanent' home. I can't say as I can contribute much to building a web page. I actually read over that whole post that Vesh had made covering the subject, but it just seems like something I wouldn't be good at, or bother to even attempt. I had a friend teach me some basic HTML and I did a little bit of it, but I never followed up on it.

I tried typing in the various URLs and the first one the-divide.org gives me a message (403 Error) saying I'm not permitted to access the page, so I take it attempts at creating it have been all but abandoned, correct me if I'm wrong. The fans may just have to settle with this being the The Divide, for now and the foreseeable future, as I see it has been years since making of a new website had been discussed in some of these threads. Which is just fine. As I said, this page seemed to be more welcoming as a whole, so I have no problem with that.

I would also recommend adding a search feature and a way to localize your timezone on this message board. I can practically guarantee I didn't make those posts when the board says I did. huh.gif I've looked high and low and as far as I can tell the forum doesn't have either of these two basic features. I could be wrong... please enlighten me, if such case is otherwise. (edit: never mind, found both, but it took some looking)

So far I've read all of this and the intro section, and since this seems to be the help/FAQ section of the board, it seemed the most appropriate place to post it. I have yet to see a place where the official rules are posted. Maybe there's some sort of loose "honor code" for enforcing your own rules and behaving in general, I'm not sure. If anyone wants to point out an error or point me in the right direction, by all means.

Anyway, any feedback on these items would be greatly appreciated. Heh.

Edit: Bah, I wanted to add this to the pinned thread but it seems I can't delete my psots? That's a first! blink.gif

Looks like you found the search and time zone features yourself. We're running on invision's forum software, and I have no idea how to manage it to the point where I can move that stuff (or even IF it's possible).

As for the temporary home, it is a good point. Vesh seems to have vanished on us again, so I'm not sure what our chances are for getting a proper site back up and running. I'll have a think about it and chat with Tullis (the other admin around here) smile.gif

Oh, and you should be able to delete your posts - just not those that start a new topic. Other ones should work.

Because a lot of us have known each other for years and since the first Divide, we don't have 'official rules'. Misbehaviour comes under "we don't define it but we know it when we see it" and act accordingly.

@Tullis - lol how does one "act accordingly" here? Just the thought made me laugh. I'd love to see a guide on the customs and traditions of Divide members. laugh.gif

The domain thedivide.org is for sale through some site that acts as a third-party in the sale of the name. If I had any money at all, I'd pick it up. I registered at that site a while back, but I do not remember how much they were asking for it.
