I think the claims that the Jays spend too much are absurd. Look, we did developer our own talent. We didn't just spend money to get to where we are (contrary to the two spenders beside us) we did develop our own farmhands and we traded them to get better talents that we felt were necessary to bring us to the next level. Look, Roy Halladay and Vernon Wells were drafted by the Blue Jays. Those two guys are our best players. We developed Orlando Hudson by ourselves, and he might be the greatest fielding second baseman we've ever had. We had to trade him to get Troy Glaus so it looks like we lost a lot because he's gone, but we did develop them. A year ago, Dave Bush, Gabe Gross and Zach Jackson were three of our best prospects. We felt that getting Lyle Overbay and technically Ty Taubenhiem, were going to make us a better team and because we didn't draft and develop them ourselves, it looks like we can't scout anymore. Maybe J.P.'s plan was to get scouts that scout players on other teams. Maybe. And maybe because guys like Bush and Jackson and Russ Adams are already in the bigs or gone, that guys like Jeremy Vermillia or that Taiwanese guy I can't remember his name is exposed that people jumped to conclusions and say we have no real prospects behind Adam Lind and Travis Snider. It's because we can't really put anyone up there behind guys like Curtis Thigpen to call " Top 10 " prospects that so called "experts" do it for us and say " LOL look at the Blue Jays farm!!! "
Maybe people should just up and see what our former prospects have brought us.
