Mr. Pedowitz who runs the CW recently said that Supernatural will be around for many years to come. His support is encouraging, but its about viewers and not sentimental feelings. I have followed this show since the beginning and because there was nothing like it on television. In recent years, the ratings have fallen and there have been gripes about storylines. The reason Mr. Pedowitz wants Supernatural to stick around is due to the ratings of a similar show Grimm.
Grimm whipped Supernatural in their finales 5 million to 1.5 million. Now that Supernatural is on a new night, I think the CW hopes that they can capitalize on Grimm viewers without having to directly compete with Grimm since it remains on Friday. I realize that most people get NBC, but maybe everyone does not get the CW. Furthermore, I have watched Grimm and it is good. In fact, it has many of the elements that people on this site have suggested that Supernatural should return to- a darker atmosphere, monsters that look monsterous, terrifying situations and no long Hellatus. They do not, however, have Jensen and Jarod and I have not seen another pair of actors as talented on tv.
Mr. Pedowitz knows that a change in nights could lead to a ressurgence of the show and ratings, simply good for business. I hope, under Jeremy Carver, the show can return to the things that have worked in the past and secure at least 3 more seasons.
