It EndsIt ends with him, the hunter thinks, somewhere between the blood and the agony as the hounds tear into his chest.
It ends with him, the demons laugh, watching as their master’s pets rip screams from the hunter’s throat.
It ends with him, the little brother knows, the strength that kept the darkness back, and somewhere in his mind, a switch flips.
It ends with him, the year-long battle waged for his soul and the war that evil now thinks it’s won.
It ends with him.
But it begins with him, too.
Because, after all, the strongest metals are always forged in fire.
