How to make this wallpaper

user posted image

Open a canvas at the size you want (I chose 1366x768 because that it the resolution of my laptop). Add the first image of Sam and resize it to 550px.

Next, add the first image of Dean, resize to 550px and set the image to screen. The third image of Dean is resized to 400px and also set to screen, placed in the top corner. The second picture of Sam is also resized to 400px and set to screen, placed on the left hand side. Place the third picture of Sam on the right hand side, resize to 400px and set to screen (sensing a theme here?). The third picture of Dean is 300px in size, set to screen (surprise) and placed in the centre. Finally; I used a picture of the Impala set to screen and resized to 300px.

You should now have something that looks like this. Doesn’t look very good does it? The next thing to do is blend the images together. To do that select a soft round paintbrush in the colour black and mask out the hard edges. What I chose to do with this wall is keep the edges and erased the hard lines that cover the images.

Luckily, after masking most of the watermarks have been erased except for the one on the main image of Sam. To get rid of that I used the
clone
tool, then you should have something that looks like this.

Next, merge the layers together and use the levels to alter the images Input levels 6, 1, 225). Then duplicate the layer and go to filters- blur- selective blur (it’s smart blur in photoshop) and set it to radius 10, max delta (threshold) 25.

Add the first texture and then go to blur- Gaussian blur at 67px. Set that to hard light 100%. I didn’t like the bit of red in the left hand corner so I masked that out. The second texture is set to screen 50% and the third texture is set to soft light 100%.

Next add a new layer and fill with #315533. Set that layer to colour 50%. Then duplicate the base layer of the images merged, drag it to the top and set to soft light 100%. Next add the fourth texture (it may need resizing depending on what size your wall is) and set that to screen 50%. Merge the layers together and alter the levels again.

Now it’s time to add the gradient maps. I used three gradients (all of them came from deviantart I think). The first one was set to screen 25% and the second one was set to soft light 15%. Once again duplicate the merged layer, drag it to the top and set it to soft light 100%. Then add the third gradient and set to colour 25%. Merge the layers together and darken with levels.

The final thing is to add the text. The lyrics are from Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi (surprise, surprise!). I used three fonts Sans at 18pt, SupernaturalKnight at 18pt for the lyrics and 50pt with a spacing of 20 for the Bon Jovi rocks text and Jane Austen set to 30pt with a spacing of 20. All the text is in the colour #30170c and set to addition 50%. For the I’m a cowboy part of the lyrics, I rotated it 90 degrees and placed it in the top left hand corner.

Finally add your signature and et voila, you’re done.

awesome tutorial! smileyclap22nx.gif
I did it and it is my first Wall! biggrin.gif
It's a little different and some things didn't work out well (i.e. some of the pictures are not very visible and I'm not really familiar with gradients so I didn't use them)
but I think for my first wall it is pretty good!
user posted image
The only thing I had trouble with is that my Wall is really tiny because I could only work with the size of the first same photo b/c all the other images set to screen would disappear if I moved them... unsure.gif
so maybe I should've set the sam image to the same size as my canvas?

but all in all I think I did a pretty god job and I am happy with it! tongue.gif

thanks so much for making this!! smileybow3ya.gif
