Hey there! I just found this thread and I'm loving it! Well, I think so far everyone has covered what I loved about 1 & 2. Oh! In Windego I loved the way both brothers were willing to sacrifice themselves for the others. Dean by trying to draw the Windigo to himself so Sam could get everyone to safety, then Sam covering them when they were trapped by the creature. I think that really spoke volumes about the kind of men they are. ~Di

Dean is cute when he gets a little flustered, isn't he? I think the boys should get paid the big bucks for what they do. But that's just me. Windigo is in part a defining episode for the show as much as the Pilot, I think. We get to see, yet again, how important the brothers are to one another. And that without it coming off as corny or overtly emotional. On with the show. 1x03 - Dean In The WaterOh, this is so another favorite of mine. Dean: Kids are the best, huh? Andrea: There it is. Like I said. Two blocks. Andrea: Must be hard with your sense of direction. Never being able to find your way to a decent pickup line. Enjoy your stay! Sam: “Kids are the best”? You don’t even like kids. Dean: I love kids. Sam: Name three children that you even know. Dean: I’m thinking! Aww! Thing is, Sam, I do think Dean likes kids. The way Dean cares about Lucas, the little boy, and goes out of his way to save him. And even though Sam is apprehensive, he still backs him every step of the way. Gawd, I love this show! So, what do you guys think? What was great about Dean In The Water?

Uuhhhh.... Dean in the Water? I thought it was Dead in the water? LOL I guess we know where your mind is! Ok, I love Dean taking to Lucas about his mom, and how he thinks she wants him to be brave. ETA: Oh yeah! Isn't this where they used the Ford and Hamill aliases? ~Di

HAHAHA!
For some reason, I think my absolute favorite line in this one is "Oh, college boy. Thinks he's so smart." It's just such an "easy" fun line.
And both guys have very nice form while diving. :)

I know, I know. I was only kidding. I didn't get mad. I must honestly admit that I'm a tad embarassed by my obvious infatuation with Dean. I mean ... sheesh ... I could be his mother ... almost. And I generally don't go for guys that are younger than myself, especially not that much younger. But he's just such an awesome actor (Jensen, that is. Although Dean could probably pull off a good many parts as well. ). But, come on! Really! We have a saying here in Denmark that's actually kinda crude if you think about it, but kinda funny too. 'He wouldn't have to run around my bed too many times.' Let's just totally disregard the fact that if he tried to run around my bed, he'd smack into a wall. At both ends. Besides ... I'd be much more inclined to go for Dean's dad than Dean himself. Okay, enough! I cannot believe I'm actually writing this where others can read it! Man! Someone give me a bucket of ice water so I can pour it over myself. Heck, just drop me off on the nearest iceberg. I'd speed up global warming if you did, though.

I'm right there with ya, Cathy! Dean/water... definitely enough to raise anyone's temperature! Now, back to the task at hand... This is a pivotal episode, the first indication that Supernatural had the potential to be spectacular instead of simply great. Jensen has said this was the episode where he found his character. Hmmm, Dean certainly didn't seem to be missing before... , but I totally agree because this is the episode that I realized Jensen was going to have more layers to Dean than we previously thought. I sat up and paid attention because he was going to give Dean depth. They've already been mentioned, but the two scenes where Dean showed a glimpse behind the facade were the two scenes with Lucas, at the park and at his house when he talked about Mom. And I loved every subtle look Jensen had as his thoughts and fears played out on his face and through those mesmerizing eyes, no words really necessary to know what he was truly feeling. And Jared had a wonderful bit when he raised his brows and his eyes showed his surprise when Dean mentioned that he thinks about Mom every day. And then we had the great avoidance and cocky facade back again as Sam tried to earnestly talk to his brother in the car, while Dean flips back with, "We're not gonna have to hug now, are we?" Yes, Dean.... eventually you two will hug... the fans demand it! Oh, and I love how Dean is doing the sniff test on his clothes to see if they can stand another go-round or if they are relegated to the laundry. Made me more aware than ever how Jensen is always doing something in a scene to keep it real and how I just can't seem to take my eyes off him, even if he isn't the main focus of the scene. No offense, Jared. You get plenty of my attention too, that's why I watch the episodes so many times. "Watching one of your parents die isn't something you just get over." - Dean again revealing his hurt inner child. And as previously mentioned, why he connects with kids so readily, he relates to them on a very basic level. And I'm thinking this is the first episode where the brothers really work together in solving a mystery. Sam is fully in the hunt and their banter flows back and forth with each one pointing out a piece of the puzzle and together they figure it out. It is almost like they are two halves of the same brain sometimes, each filling it what the other is thinking and it is just random which one says it first. And the MOST important thing is this is the episode that gave us Kim Manners! And I especially love that Kim loves the guys and he takes care of them and supports them in all the emotional scenes they do to bring Sam and Dean to life. B.J.

Kim Manners rocks! No doubt about it. Adore the guy to bits for his writing skills. Jensen and Jared are both outstanding actors that deserve all the praise and kudos they can get. They are so damned good together. What I really love about this show is how much they both bring to their characters and how much they are allowed to bring to them. The rules here are not rigid 'it's my show and you do what I tell you to', it's flexible and leaves room for them to improve, which I think is abundantly clear in the way the boys portray their characters and the writers write them. What's not to love! And it's easy to see that Dead In The Water (yes, it is actually called Dead and not Dean, although Dean is in the water and ... oh, I digress ... back on track here ) was a defining episode for Dean's character development. And boy has he developed. Gah! Here I go again. I need to take a cold shower or something. What I'm trying to say is ... 10 days left! Okay, I think I'm gonna go to bed now before I loose what little I have left of my sanity. And, let me tell you, it's not much. Beautiful episode all in all. Loved it.

Some of mine again have already been mentioned. Absolutely loved Deans conversations with Lucas at the park and the house. They were my favorites of this episode. Real insightful to what he's been through and what he's hiding behind a mask. Loved him talking about his mom... first when he said when he was young he saw something and the way he hesitated at the memory and you knew it was painful. Then talking about thinking his mom would want him to be brave and he thinks about that every day. Loved Sam seeing a part of Dean that he didn't before. Dean also not wanting to leave town until he knew the kid was safe. Just loved the extra character development in this episode. Also loved the performance the boy who played Lucas (sorry, can't remember his name at the moment) gave at the house when his mom was in the tub. Never got to say a word in that scene but I thought he was very believable as scared and frantic trying to break in the bathroom door then the way he answered the front door when Sam and Dean arrived. Also thought he did a good job in the lake when Dean brings him up out of the water. Loved the suspense in the episode, particularly the tub scene and the lake scene at the end. I remember it had me on the edge of my seat first time I saw it. Also, when Sam and Dean are at the intersection preparing to leave town, I love the way Jared's accent slips when he says "green.... light's green". Just thought that was adorable
