Chapter four
Sam felt like his heart was being ripped out of him. He felt anger and pain rip through his body.
He fell to his knees and couldn’t stop the tears streaming down his face.
Dean stood up and headed for Sam.
‘Sam.’ Dean said quietly.
‘Why, why, why! Why her? My little angel.’ Sam said though his tears.
‘We’ll get her back Sam.’
‘I thought you said that thing was dead!’ Sam said as he stood up and faced Dean.
‘I thought it was dead! I saw it die!’
‘Did it look dead to you? It took Mackenzie!’
‘Sam, we will get her back!’
‘What happened?!’ Danielle yelled out as she ran into the nursery with Joanne close behind.
‘Danielle, I-’ Sam tried to say through his tears.
‘Sam. What happened?’ Danielle asked calmly walking towards Sam.
‘Mackenzie -.’ Sam said looking towards the crib.
Danielle looked at the crib before walking towards it. ‘Mackenzie! Where’s the baby?’ Danielle said as she turned around to look at Sam.
‘The Demon. He-he took her.’
‘What? But, I thought we killed that thing!’ Danielle said as she started to cry.
‘So we all thought.’ Dean said.
‘But why did it take my baby?’ Danielle asked looking towards Dean then back at Sam.
‘Well, we know that the Demon takes children on there six month brithday.’ Dean said.
‘Oh my god! Mackenzie just turned six months old today.’ Danielle said through her tears before she trailed on.
‘But why? Why did it take Mackenzie on the day of her six month birthday?’
‘Because-’ Sam said quietly. Danielle turned around to look at Sam.
‘Because it takes children with abilities, like it tried to take me when I was Mackenzie’s age.’
‘Are you saying Mackenzie can do stuff. Stuff like you and Joanne?’ Danielle asked.
‘Yeah.’ Sam replied.
‘Wait! Will my baby have powers?’ Joanne asked as she put her hands on her stomach.
‘Maybe.’ Sam replied.
‘Don’t worry honey.’ Dean said walking up to Joanne and gave her a hug. ‘That Demon won’t go anywere near our baby. And I’ll make sure of that by killing that son of a bitch, and getting Mackenzie back.’
‘I know Dean, and I know you will get Mackenzie back.’ Joanne said as Dean let go of her.
‘How are we going to get Mackenzie back? Danielle asked.
‘Going to track down this son of a bitch.’ Sam said walking towards the door. Dean followed behind Sam.
‘Hey Sam.’ Danielle said stopping the boys leaving.
‘Yeah.’ Sam said as he turned around.
‘Bring Mackenzie back safe, and that includes you two.’
‘I will.’
‘You girls stay here. If it shows up again, call us.’ Dean said.
‘Alright.’ Both Danielle and Joanne said.
Dean and Sam went down the stairs and Sam picked up his jacket from the hook. Dean took the brown bag with their gear it that was lying on the floor underneath the coats. Then took his own jacket and followed Sam out of the house and headed for the Impala.
Before Dean opened the door he look towards the black sky.
‘Hey Sam. How are we going to track this thing down anyway?’
‘Best guess is to follow the storm.’ Sam said as he entered the Impala.
‘Alright.’ Dean said as he went into the Impala and threw the bag towards the backseat before he started the car up.
He drove out of the drive way and drove down the deserted road towards the storm.
[4 minutes latter]
Dean drove down the road through the heavy rain fall and heavy winds.
Suddenly the radio went on, it kept jumping though the channels along with static through it.
‘Dean stop the car.’ Sam said looking at the radio. Dean stopped the car at the edge of the road and looked out of the window.
Ahead of them was the towns shopping mall.
‘You think the Demon is in there?’ Dean said turning his head to look at Sam.
‘Yeah.’ Sam said looking towards the mall.
‘What would the Demon want in a mall? To do some shopping?’ Dean asked sarcastically.
‘C’mon.’ Sam said as he opened the door and went out into the rain. Dean took the bag from the back seat and followed Sam.
Sam and Dean ran towards the mall. They stopped at the doors and Dean took out his lock pick from his pocket. He put it in the lock and began to move it around until he heard the click. After Dean took out the lock pick Sam opened the door and entered. Dean followed.
The mall was really dark and they couldn’t see many things. Dean took out two small torches out of from the bag and gave one to Sam.
‘Okay, how we going to find it?’ Dean said turning on the torch and looking around.
‘I think it’ll be better to split up.’ Sam said as he turned on his torch.
‘Alright. I’ll take this level and you take the top.’ Dean said.
Sam nodded and headed for the stairs, Dean walked on and looked around the ground floor..
Dean walked and walked around the mall and still no sign of the Demon or Mackenzie.
He decided to head back to were he left Sam. Dean stopped as he saw Sam walking down the stairs.
‘Find anything?’ Dean asked.
‘Nothing. You?’ Sam replied as he walked towards Dean.
‘Nothing. The place is deserted Sam, no sign of the Demon.’
‘We’ll just have to keep on looking.’ Sam said.
Suddenly a noise was heard near towards the entrance. Sam and Dean both turned around and shown their torches in the direction of the noise.
‘Who’s there?’ Dean said.
A small figure appeared from behind the tall plant. Both Sam and Dean tried to look closely at the figure. Dean lowered his torch as he kept his eye on it.
‘Joanne!’ Dean said.
‘Hey.’ Joanne replied as she moved closer to the boys.
‘Joanne what the hell are you doing here?’ Dean asked.
‘I wanted to help.’ Joanne replied.
‘You can’t, this is too dangerous!’
‘Where’s Danielle?’ Sam asked.
‘She fell asleep on the sofa. I left her a note before I left.’
‘You need to go back.’ Dean said.
‘Why? Why cant I stay and help.’
‘Joanne, your six months pregnant. You should be resting.’ Dean said.
‘I’m not letting pregnancy be my excuse for not hunting with you guys? Plus, I’ve been with you to other hunts before.’
‘Yeah, but you weren’t pregnant at the time. And this hunt is a lot more dangerous.’ Dean said. ‘Please Joanne, just go back home. I don’t want you or the baby to get hurt’
‘I’ll be fine Dean.’
‘Joanne, please.’ Dean asked.
‘Alright.’ Joanne said with a sigh.
Joanne looked at Dean before her eyes caught something move on the stairs.
The figure was tall and dark and seemed to be carrying something.
‘Uhh, guys?’ Joanne said quietly as she pointed to the stairs.
Both Sam and Dean turned to see the figure running up the stairs. Sam quickly notices what it was carrying.
‘Mackenzie!’ Sam said as he headed for the stairs. ‘HEY!’ Sam yelled out as he ran.
‘Sam!’ Dean said as he ran after Sam. Dean stopped suddenly as someone suddenly appeared in front of him. He fell back and looked up to see a woman, she had black hair that just went past her shoulders. She wore a black dress and around her neck was a skull pendent. Joanne ran over and help Dean to his feet.
‘Dean, you ok?’ Joanne asked.
‘Who are you?’ Dean asked looking at the woman.
‘I'm your worst nightmare.’ She said as she gave an evil smile before she raised her hand. Dean felt his body being pulled through the air, he hit the wall with force and landed on the ground.
Sam stopped half way on the stairs to see Dean lying on the floor near to the entrance. Then, he looked towards Joanne, who was standing with a woman. Sam looked closer at the woman and recognized her instantly. The woman from his dream. He froze in the spot.
‘W-Who are you?’ Joanne asked as she took a step backwards.
‘You don’t want to know, my dear.’ The woman said just as her eyes turned an evil deep dark purple, deeper than dark it‘s self.
The next thing Joanne knew she felt two arms around her neck. Joanne tried desperately to get the woman off her. The woman let one hand go, and opened her hand. Suddenly a small dagger appeared in her hand, she raised it over Joanne’s chest,
Joanne stared at the dagger in horror before it plunged into her chest.
Joanne’s life stood still for a moment, she heard shouting in the background.
She felt her body shutting down, she heard her heart beats getting slower and slower. Then she felt the dagger being pulled out before she fell to her knees. As she fell the woman vanished as quick as she appeared. Joanne looked towards the ceiling of the mall until she fell to the ground and slowly closed her eyes and then everything went silent.
Sam looked at Joanne’s body in shock. As Dean looked on towards her lifeless body, his heart felt like it just shattered in a million peices.
