Hello everyone. I am new to this whole Gimp idea to use and make banners flash and stuff. I downloaded the program on my computer and I don't even know how to use it. I've looked at the tutorials and don't even understand them. All I need to know how to do is to make banners and collages on their and learn to do animations like make them flash. If anyone can help walk me thru it, I'd appreciate it.

You should really check out Saiyuki's "GIMP, Beginners Guide: The Basic Full Sig Tut" in the Gimers Guide.

I've done tried saving it as Gif or Jpeg and still nothing. It'll make animations, but it won't save them and I don't really understand the directions well.

I still don't understand the instructions. I need something simple to go by. My Gimp just doesn't want to save animations at all even though its probably suppose to.

I guess I'm just going to go ahead and Delete Gimp because none of these intructions are helpful. I'm not computer smart and I want to know how to save an Animation (flashy banner or pic) and saving it as Gif, just doesnt help. I'm confused and don't know what to do.

If you can't save animations, meaning:

1. you have one image on one layer and then another different image on another layer.

2. That you put a animation filter, like blend, on it.

3. You went File>Save and saved the thing as "somesomething.gif"

4. Ran playback in GIMP

5. Hosted it to an internet image hosting site

6. Posted it to see if it worked

And after all that...if it didn't work then yes delete GIMP if you give up that easily. Just because you can't find help here, doesn't mean that there might not be better help somewhere else on web.

Here, go read Mina's tut on how to make animations link. It's about the easiest tutorial to understand. Just read through it a few times if you don't get it the first.

I will try these helpful tips and see which works for me and let you know if it works out. I'll keep playing around with Gimp with helpful tips and stuff sometimes you just have to keep playing with a program.
