Dean picked up his holy water and his bag of other demon-hunting desirables. He’s prepared for anything. God knows he’ll need to be. Sam and Jo walk along side him, as they enter the graveyard. It’s the final showdown. It’s been exactly a year since the yellow eyed demon appeared to be killed. In actuality it was just a clever trick. He had more powers than he seemed and the rumor about the colt wasn’t true. It couldn’t kill anything, but Dean wasn’t discouraged. It turned out there was a loophole for that little deal he had made and of course Sam his trusty side-kick geekboy had found it. Jo too was united in this battle. She had put her and the differences with the Winchesters aside. She wanted this more than anything. Especially since her mother had died because of the damn thing, but it was more than that she wanted to help the love of her life defeat the thing that had caused so much torment in his life and in hers. The reason why Dean had refused to marry her. He wanted this done first. They stop, the demon stands there. “So” he says in his superior voice. “You know.” “Yeah.” Dean replies tight lipped. “Well it was only a matter of time before you found out. I mean you can’t hide a secret like this forever. So how do you plan on killing me? You don’t think it’s possible to kill Satan now do you?” Dean laughs that’s what I thought. “But in reality I did kill Satan’s children so really I only need a little more fire power right?” Satan’s eyes flash that bright yellow color. All of the sudden All three Dean, Jo, and Sam have identical colts raised, but before a shot can get off all three go flying in separate directions and the 3 colts smash into pieces. “No!!!” Dean shouts as smacks his head on a tomb stone and realizes he can’t move. Those were their last hope! Those were the guns made by Samuel Colt’s 3 daughters. It was their only hope of killing this thing.
“I should have done this a long time ago” Satan spits out walking triumphantly towards Dean. You’ve been a thorn in my side from the beginning. “Bring it,” Dean says cockily. “You’ve tried bef….” But before he can even finish his sentence he’s gasping in pain. His chest feels like it’s splitting open. Jo starts to struggle against her invisible bonds. This can’t happen. They have to win. Sam starts doing the same. “Ha!” Satan chuckles. Try all you want darling, he’s dead and you will be soon after. Satan reaches down and squeezes Dean’s face. Then he sees something peeking out from Dean’s jacket. The pain stops and Dean gasps. He’s soaked with blood and he passes out. “Dean!” Jo yells in tears. Sam struggles harder. Satan grabs the necklace. It’s the amulet that Dean has worn all along. He rips it off of Dean’s neck. Then there is an intense light. “No it can’t be!” He yells as the light surrounds him. I thought I destroyed this with your mother. Then in one bright flash, he’s gone. The bonds break and Sam and Jo rush to Dean. “Dean…Dean!...DEAN” Jo yells shaking his and crying. Sam picks up the dropped amulet and there is another intense light and suddenly Mary Winchester appears. “Mom…” Sam mutters started as Jo is still crying over Dean. “How…” “That’s no ordinary necklace. I gave that to Dean to protect him and it did.” “But how what happened to Satan?” Sam asks. “He’s bound forever to hell along with all his demons and monsters. The evil in the world is gone.” Then suddenly Mary disappears. Sam turns his attention back to Dean. He rushes over. Jo is still crying and cradling his seemingly lifeless body. “Dean…” Sam whispers. Dean’s eyes flutter. “Sammy” he mutters painfully. “You did it Dean” Sam says quietly. “It’s over all the demons and evil is gone.” Dean smiles painfully. “I can die in peace now.” “No.” Sam replies “You’re going to be all right we just have to get you to a doctor.” Dean shakes his head. “I’m done…” He mutters. Sam starts to try to hold back tears. “It’s ok you’ll be ok.” Dean shakes his head again. “It’s…the end for me. Take…care of Jo.” He gasps. “Dean I love you.” Jo cries. “I’m sorry….I was… never able to…marry you.” “It’s ok.” Jo chokes out. She leans over and gently kisses his lips he lifts his arms painfully to cradle her face. Then they slowly fall. Jo breaks down in wailing and Sam lets his tears fall. His brother is gone, but he finished his mission.
*flashback* Dean is 13 and Sam is 10
Sam is scared and crying and Dean comes over to comfort him. “Sammy what’s wrong?” Young Dean asks. “I’m scared” Sam replies. “How do I know he won’t come after me?” “You mean The Demon?” Sam nods his head. “I’ll protect you and one day I’ll kill him. That’s my mission to kill him.” Dean reaches down and hugs his baby brother.
*end of flashback *
A few days later
Sam is driving and Jo sits beside him. It’s just doesn’t feel right being in his Impala without him… They reach their destination. Sam opens the urn and lets his brothers ashes fly away over the Grand Canyon that he never did get to see. Jo breaks down in tears and Sam moves to comfort her. He too starts to cry. “Goodbye Dean” He whispers as he and Jo move towards the Impala. His tears are still falling, but as he reaches down to finger Dean’s amulet, that saved their life and that he now wears around his neck he knows his brother will always be with him.
