Australian Ratings Thread - S3, Season 3 AU Ratings

Hi guys,

I just quickly went on to tvtonight to see what last night's ratings are :-

Supernatural Ten 0.977m

I thinkg that is pretty good for our premiere. The scripted show we are competing against is "City Homicide which came in at 1.695. I don't have any other source as I can't find the S2 ratings thread but if our lovely moderators want to pin an Aussie ratings thread, that would be great.

But the really good news is I was just talking to this chic - she watched the show for the first time ever, and freaking loved it! (Like I mean quite literally!)

Thanks for providing those figures, that's great. I wonder if Idol is proving a useful 'springboard' for SN; hopefully ratings will remain good once Idol finishes (in a few weeks?? - I don't watch it!).

I do think Idol is a good "lead-in" as the industry term goes. It is the network's job to ensure that the shows are properly married off with each other so it will be interesting to see what it will replace when Idol finishes. In my opinion though, going by our ratings last season, I don't believe Big Brother was a good lead-in for Supernatural.

I think it is a completely different demographic who watch Big Brother versus Idol, therefore, the ratings were lower during BB.

Interesting if anyone has any theories.

To be honest I think that the demographic for BB and Idol were similar, not the same, but fairly similar. The reason we've gone up I think is because of the Idol lead in, and also I think not going up against Desperate Housewives, is helping us to get better ratings...

EDITED TO ADD: Also for the 18-49 demo Supernaturals at number 5 for Monday night with Border Security, The Force, Australian Idol, and Home & Away ahead of it. Looks like we were the best in out timeslot.
