I think the only thing that gave Supernatural an eighth season is the internet buzz and the overwhelming number of votes in the different fan Choice Awards in the last couple of years.

I say this because the numbers for the show are the lowest ever and with all of the pilots coming to the CW, if there were ever a time to do the show in, it would be now.

The vocal fan support must continue as the show hopefully gets its footing.

Do you think the show runners listen to fan ideas from the web for the future. It seems they got the sense what they were doing was not working and that there was fan loyalty and reason to keep the series going.

Thoughts?

There are many reasons for 'ratings' to be low. The night, the fact it's on a small network who doesn't advertise the show, and my favorite--Nielsen ratings don't reflect who is actually watching the show.

That being said, yes I do believe the loyal fan base does have quite a bit to do with them seeing the value of the franchise.

Even with low ratings, it is still one of the top programs on the CW network smile.gif

On a side note: I'm moving this topic to the correct forum as it really does not pertain to Season 7 episodes wink.gif

I get the feeling fans are becoming more hopeful now....several peeps I know who stopped watching the show regularly are "waking up" and taking notice of the changes afoot---I am optimistic and excited myself!! smile.gif

Not to mention the ratings are down 25% vs last year for the CW so they aren't going to get the same ratings as last year. wink.gif

Changing show runners isn't going to change anything about how the series is going, many people didn't like Sera to begin with so their distaste for the show went sour with her in charge, even though the Soulless Sam plot and Dean being domesticated wasn't her idea for season 6. Not to mention Eric Kripke was still very much involved with the writing of the show that year. wink.gif
