Zap2IT have an article about Episode 6.12. Here are the key points. You can read the full article at the source link below.

1. Meet the next Big Bad. While the focus of Season 6 thus far has been retrieving Sam's soul, Friday's episode introduces viewers to a new villain who is, dare we say it, more formidable than those who have come before. Lucifer was scary mostly because of his name and the history around it, but when you find out how the next foe is released, there will be no "Sympathy for the Devil" involved.

2. Rise and shine, Sam Winchester. We won't tell you exactly what condition Sam is in when he eventually wakes up from Death's little procedure, but he does wake up - and that Great Wall in his head may not be as durable as Dean had hoped. As Castiel says in the ominous preview clip below, Sam's soul has more or less been skinned alive, so a bumpy landing is to be expected. We've already said that we think Jared Padalecki has upped his acting game this season. We're still impressed, now that soul has met body.

3. Virgins in a cage. Enough of the touchy feely crap! Winchester family trouble has never given the creepy-crawlies pause, so far be it from the bad guys to stop being bad guys long enough for Dean to figure out how to approach Sam's new condition. The episode has all of the B-movie horror goodness we've come to crave from "Supernatural" - seriously, virgins in a cage - plus an original twist on a timeless legend. (Basically, the coolest dragon ever.)

4. Remember Season 2? We've gotten so used to the Winchester brothers lying to each other for episodes on end that we had to pick our jaws up off the floor during a particularly refreshing moment of honesty. The Zap2it staffers in the office all agreed that it felt like Season 2. Sam and Dean appear to be on the same page -- at least momentarily.

5. You will laugh out loud. The physical comedy that Jensen Ackles is so darn good at reaches a high point in this episode (not to say that he doesn't tug on our heartstrings as well) -- as do the one-liners and pop-culture references that prevent the show from getting too dark and dreary. (Let's just say we hadn't pegged Bobby for a "Harry Potter" fan, but apparently he really does read everything.)

Thanks for the link :)

Actually of all the spoilers this one really made me smile. I do love Jensen when he hits the comedic highs. And Bobby a closet Harry Potter Fan?

It also looks like we may get that brotherly bonding moment some of us have been praying for. At least we know Sam does have his soul and it looks like we may get to see a tearful eye or two. Now all we need is the hug :cloud9

cherrybrandy - January 27, 2011 12:28 PM (GMT)
Wasn't it Alice Jester who hinted at the possibility of a hug? Something to do with being misty eyed...I'm not getting my hopes up as they generally only give us one per season <_<

Cinca - January 27, 2011 06:15 PM (GMT)
Hey everyone. *wave*

So can I squee?

Last night I read a lot of spoilers and they made me so happy and excited. haven't felt like this in a long time. Yep, I heard of a hug too. And a Harry Potter reader? Bobby is full of surprises there.

charmed1of2 - January 27, 2011 07:10 PM (GMT)
I'll do it for you Andi.

:woohoo :woohoo

Hold on, have to do my :happydance :happydance

I am so looking forward to the episodes coming up. The spoilers sound fantastic.

I want to see a hug, misty eyes, them hunting together..everything the show can throw at us.

Hey I was surprised he got pedicures

I'm really interested in how the show is going to portray the dragon this week.

The meta episode sounds like it will be a blast to watch. I'm hoping we get some of that in the gag reels at the end of the season. You know the guys will be goofing around in that one.

I can see it:

Sam= Wait, am I supposed to be Sam or Jared?

Dean= I thought you were Jensen and I was Jared .

Might be a tad confusing

Cinca - January 27, 2011 08:36 PM (GMT)
I am curious about the dragon too. I am hoping they go for scary and terrifying and not fantasy, does that make me look bad?

The meta sounds fun, I liked TMATEOTB and the convention one cracks me up. Sera said it should be fall on the floor hillarious.

Dean "and your laptop is just a glorified paper weight.."

I can't wait either for the Meta episode. I think both boys are going to do it justice. Beside by then we'll probably be ready for a lighter episode.

As to the dragon, it's really hard to say how they'll do it. I keep thinking it will be like the Hell Hounds, sort of invisible. But then others think it could just be a metaphor for something worse (ie maybe the new King of Hell).

I'm just upset we have to wait another week to see it

:(

Cinca - January 28, 2011 10:32 PM (GMT)
I am sad to wait for another week too. What a bummer. :(

Actually I would like it if it were invisible. Or at least not shown until the end. Just the destruction it could do. Oh and anyone minds set pics? I have one from WinchesterBros Facebook:

Now that is what I love to see first thing in the morning . Sam and Dean in western outfits :cloud9

Thanks for posting that Andi.

They said the new big bad is supposed to be worse than Lilith and Lucifer :evil

Cinca - January 29, 2011 03:19 PM (GMT)
I can't wait to see them in those outfits. :cheer

I wonder if the new big bad is actually the alpha of all alpha's did that make sense?

It's the part I am really curious about.

It's the part I am really curious about.

I think of what the Alpha Vamp said: "we all have our mothers". I think the boys might be accidently letting this alpha (the mother) go free. It seems that the apocalypse was an inevitable, or at least inevitable to everyone but humans and somethings or many somethings want it back on track.

That makes a super tough fight for our boys.

Raven524 - January 29, 2011 06:55 PM (GMT)
I agree, it could be the mother of the monsters. I really am looking forward to it. Adder suggested a possible reason too for Sam and Dean to be seeking out Samuel Colt in this episode.

She suggests that maybe they find out that the newest bad is one of the five things that can't be killed by the colt - so they go back to find out if it can be modified to kill the latest baddie. :sherlock

Of course, seeing the boys in cowboy gear is enough of a reason for me :cloud9 Thanks for the pic Cinca! :)

Gemdrive - February 13, 2011 10:08 AM (GMT)
Just curious, there is an episode coming up, (don't know which, sorry) that supposedly has Samuel and Bobby butting heads over a hunt. I wonder how Samuel is going to escape Dean's threat of killing him next time he sees him?

That'll be interesting to see, especially how sincere he was about it in Caged Heat.

And will this be the first meeting of resouled Sam and Samuel? That should be fun, considering Mary was more important than Sam's soul as far as Samuel was concerned. I wonder what he'll have to say about that? Probably something like, "oh how nice for you, look at that, you got what you wanted and screwed me of what I wanted, thanks."

I'm quite looking forward to seeing Samuel again, if only to see how the brothers react to him and considering now that Sam has his soul.

I love this show

charmed1of2 - February 13, 2011 03:42 PM (GMT)
I agree Gem. The last time we saw Samuel, Dean was ready to kick his butt. It should really be interesting to see the * reunion* between the guys and grandpa to say the least.

I'm betting there will be tension from both boys when they see him. Not really sure why Bobby and him butts heads though, maybe because they have their own way of hunting and neither one wants to listen to the other.

Yeah, I'm sure Samuel will be looking at Sam differently now and maybe resenting the fact that it may have ruined his plans to get Mary back.

Personally does he really think Mary would have wanted him to treat her sons the way he has? Seeing her from past episodes when she was young, I'd think she'd have some major issues with the way her father has been treating his grandchildren and wouldn't hesitate in speaking her mind about it.

Wasn't there a spoiler that Samantha was coming back for an upcoming episode?

Raven524 - February 13, 2011 05:42 PM (GMT)
I think I did hear that somewhere that Mary may be coming back for an episode but not sure where. It could have just been fan speculation.

I too am looking forward to seeing how the boys will react and act around Samuel. I really don't see them trusting him. Also, I wonder if he won't bring back more memory flashes since Sam seemed to be spending a great deal of time with him during the past year.

Bobby butting heads with him actually makes sense to me as I think Bobby will be ticked off that Samuel used his boys to get his daughter back. Also, he probably holds him responsible for not helping Sam sooner, since I get the sense that Bobby really wasn't with Sam that much over the past year. Do we even know if Bobby knew Samuel was back before now?

I'm not sure what episode they all meet back up in, but I'm betting it will be closer to the end and maybe will have something to do with this summer's cliff hanger.

Gemdrive - February 13, 2011 06:14 PM (GMT)
Clash of the old school hunters, can't wait for that! :bonk

Oh, I did hear that about Samantha too, Charmed! Apparently it was mentioned at a con or something, and if it's true then I'm inclined to think that Mary (and possibly John) are in purgatory. Wonder what choice words she'd have for her dad when she finds out what he's been up to?

I think you're right, Raven. One look at Samuel could certainly erupt Sam's memories, I wonder if there's more to Samuel than what we already know? It definitely seemed strange that topside memories constituted as a scratch at that wall and it was very Samuel heavy memories too. Or it could just be memories, topside or hell, that scratch the wall and I'm reading too much into it again.

Raven524 - February 13, 2011 06:22 PM (GMT)
I think that if Sam just has random flashes, it isn't a scratch - but when Sam tries to force the memory (like in this last one), then it can allow other memories to escape.

So hopefully meeting up with Samuel will not result in a bigger breach of the 'Great Wall of Sam' (I do love Dean's lines sometimes)

I actually also think maybe Mary and John could be in purgatory. It appears its a third place for beings to go when they die--at least that is what it appears anyway. I pretty sure it's not the traditional purgatory that most view.

I can't wait to see what the mother of all monsters is planning either. Is her end game that she wants souls or is it that she wants to release her 'children' back on earth?

My speculation is that its a trap. I mean if you send the boys to a place where everything from the cars to the guns are props and you approach one of the boys with a gun they might think its an actor.

If you watch the extended promo, around the 40 second mark, just after Dean comments the Impala is a prop you see a guy approaching with a shot gun. If you check out IMDB its the guy that plays the hit man, so most likely that gun is real. We were speculating whether the guy getting hit is Dean or Dean's stunt double. It looks a little bit like Jensen from some angles but doesn't from others. :shrug

I wonder if its Balty that wants them dead, not Raphael, after all you can't restart the apocalypse if your vessels are dead.

I just wish it was Friday.

Interesting theory adder, I never really noticed that in the clip. I know Cas is in this one, I'm just wondering why it was Balti that moved the boys and not Cas. Unless Cas is busy at the moment with the hitman.

Do we know if Cas makes it into the AU verse with the guys, because what I've seen it's Misha playing well Misha

Would Samuel even recognize an approximately 30 year old Mary? This is assuming Samantha doesn't come back strictly as a flashback.

charmed1of2 - February 24, 2011 10:40 PM (GMT)
I really hope Samantha doesn't come back as a flashback for I'd really love to see the confrontation between her and Samuel.

I'm sure she'll have a few choice words to have to say to him with how he treated her sons. She had a streak of rebellion in her as a teen , wait until dear old Dad sees the grown up version of his daughter.

I'd be cheering her on too

moncitymom - April 10, 2011 04:01 PM (GMT)
So Jensen asked Eric about the amulet cause he knew he would be asked.

Eric's reply..."I'm tired of thinking about it, so I threw it away, but Sam was in the room"

Jensen then said he thought it should have been used as the key to get him out of hell.

So my thought is....He had to mean Sam, cause we didn't know the meaning behind it when Dean went to Hell. So maybe Sam used it in the pit somehow to get out. What do you all think? Possible?

:shrug

Raven524 - April 10, 2011 04:13 PM (GMT)
Interesting idea and I'm glad that Eric left us at least the hope that it will resurface at some point. Him saying Sam was in the room to me means that Sam probably picked it up :cheer :happydance

With us finding out that Crowley definitely didn't get Sam out, it does open up a whole other realm of possibilities though. Using the amulet would be and interesting twist. Maybe Sam had it on him and the power of the amulet yanked his body back? Or it was the method used by someone to find Sam and pull his body back? I wonder if they'll let us know that before the end of this season?

Spoilers for Season 8 from Comic Con 2012:

source: EW On-line Blog

QUOTE
Jeremy says that at the beginning of this season, we will learn that “being separated had a profound effect on both of them and they have gone a separate way.” Also, they will have spent “more than a summer” apart. “The relationships that they made and their time off from each other will be very important in each of their lives, and they will have to come to terms with the new relationship in each of their lives,” he says. Ben points out that the boys are “emotional shut-ins that have to learn how to deal” with what happened to each other during the summer.

QUOTE
Mark says relationship with the boys has been reciprocal. “I took stuff and got stuff,” he says. Jared jokes: “Can you re-phrase that?” Ben describes the boys’ relationship with Crowley as very antagonistic because they’re chasing after the same thing.

QUOTE
The theme this season is Raiders of the Lost Ark

QUOTE
Jeremy tries to explain: “I can’t go into it too much but suffice to say that in a lot of season’s past the boys have been reacting to something, but this year, they’re staring on offense.” He says they’re chasing “something near and dear to their hearts.” Ben elaborates: They are on a “chase for a power source that we’ve already seen hints of.”

QUOTE
Jeremy: “Purgatory makes strange bedfellows.”

QUOTE
Fan asks if we’ll ever see God. “It’s a very unstable situation over here on this end of the table,” Ben (who is sitting next to Jim) jokes before giving the question to Jeremy. Jeremy adds: “We will pull back from the heavy heavy mythology and give the brothers to [breathe].” Adds that the season will have “one over-arching mythology that will hopefully carry on for many, many more years.”

QUOTE
Jensen on new Wednesday timeslot: “Most shows go to Friday nights to die. That was because of you guys.”

QUOTE
GAG REEL!! Best scene? A certain trio paying homage to Wayne’s World

Sounds like this season is really going to be cool. I love the fact that we get to see the boys both growing up and going on the offensive. The line about purgatory making strange bedfellows makes me wonder if we don't get a new ally from there. I do like the idea of the myth arc going more than one season (woo hoo! they are thinking of more seasons already)

And finally, I can't wait to see this year's gag reel!!

Raven524 - August 5, 2012 02:58 AM (GMT)

“The guys are great,” he continued. “The show is great. We’re big believers in the show.”

Pedowitz revealed that Misha Collins’ heavenly angel Castiel will be in a “minimum of eight” Season 8 episodes — but what about the demon-hunting brothers he pals around with and their prospects beyond the upcoming run? The CW boss expressed his desire to keep the series going for a long, long time. When asked whether there have already been talks about securing stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki beyond next season, Pedowitz told reporters, “There’s always conversations that happen. I am a big Supernatural fan.”

In fact, he added, “I hope it stays on as long as I’m still here.”

Raven524 - August 5, 2012 04:32 AM (GMT)
Yes, it's true MC2. As to why? I'm not sure but maybe they are trying to give them a better time slot. As Jensen said, Friday is usually the slot given to shows on the way out.

I see it as a positive :)

Why do you think Wed is worse MC?

mc2 - August 6, 2012 05:33 AM (GMT)
I don't think Wednesday is worse, it's just different. Too often when shows get moved they loose viewers. In this case though, it might help. Do you know what's replacing them on Friday?

But it explains why the reruns are running on Wednesday....

Raven524 - August 6, 2012 05:52 AM (GMT)
Sorry, I thought you were saying Wednesdays were worse. This is the last schedule I saw:

MONDAY
8/7c 90210
9 pm Gossip Girl (THE CARRIE DIARIES takes over in January)

TUESDAY
8 pm Hart of Dixie
9 pm EMILY OWENS, M.D. (formerly known as First Cut)

WEDNESDAY
8 pm ARROW
9 pm Supernatural

THURSDAY
8 pm The Vampire Diaries
9 pm BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

FRIDAY
8 pm America’s Next Top Model
9 pm Nikita

I actually think the lead in by Arrow may actually help us and could also explain the move to Wednesday for Supernatural. They may be banking on SN bringing viewers to Arrow.

And since Jared announced at the NJ Con that he and Jensen signed through S10--I'm thinking they won't be going back to Friday anytime soon ;)

From the articles I’ve read it sounds like Cas may be somewhat back to his normal self * not the bee and flower kind of nuts*. What I find interesting is in one of the recent spoilers they mentioned things “aren’t as they seem”?

I’m wondering if we find out what they mean by this within the first couple of episodes.

I noticed none of the spoilers so far haven't mentioned Cas was out of Purgatory when they talked about Dean and Benny. I think they are keeping it hush so we won't know until he pops up in an episode that's not a flashback. Just a guess on my part though lol.

:) IGN: Based on what you’ve revealed so far, I’ve seen some fans express concerns like, “Did Sam give up looking for Dean? How much did he try or not try to find him?” What can you about that, as far as what Sam was doing while Dean was gone?

Carver: I would say that I don’t think anything is done without good reason. One of the things in the show is that, particularly this season, people might think one way about one of the brothers in the beginning. Again, it goes along with perception. I would just ask people to hold on to your hats and understand that we’re going to be exploring each brother, the very complex and difficult things that they’re going through. No one’s hands were completely clean at the end of last season. What you think might be a bad thing -- I don’t think you’ll think that as the season goes on. We’re playing with expectations

love this question, one that needed to be asked...very excited about the answer. of course it's nothing we didn't already know.....sam would never just give up...there's always a reason..of course dean would be like what the hell at first and then 10 seconds later after he hears what sam has to say he empathizes and and totally understands....that's dean...pissed first then questions second, then understanding... ;)

you know they did the same thing in s4 regarding ruby. it wasn't until eppy 9 that we and dean actually understood why sam was with ruby.

what i like about now is that by the looks of the article, we won't have to wait til eppy 9 to get the total story....they will be exploring it much more this time for both of them.

seems like this season the focus is actually on the boys story and the mythology is background. :cheer

charmed1of2 - August 9, 2012 11:35 AM (GMT)
I was just posting almost the exact same thing on the other spoiler threads annan lol. I think that we find out later on in the season that Sam did look for Dean when he first vanished. :)

I'm hoping that we do get a lot of the details revealed by midseason before the evil cliffy they usually leave us on.

I know they won't give us eveything but I'll take whatever they give us.

We'll find out what happened in Purgatory, I really liked the part in the article that said there would be action :)

I'm looking forward also in what Crowley is up to since some of the articles said he's going to be a major part of the storyline with this quest that the guys have to go on.

I'm just stoked all around and the most recent article makes me wish it was already October! I'm glad they are going to give both brothers a chance to mature and maybe let us in on what is going on with both of them and why.

I can be patient as I also agree that it might look bad at first with Sam, but I would never believe had he thought there was a chance to save Dean, that he wouldn't do it.

I'm also really glad they will delve a bit more into what happened in purgatory. Especially since their view is so different than what I expect (of course so was their view of heaven  )

Crowley being back is also a plus--along with the Alpha vamp, my two favorite baddies. I'm also fascinated by Benny and how that character will shake out.

The mystery around Castiel too is interesting. The only thing that would make my day would be that Bobby would somehow return--but if not, I'll live with it. I understand that characters have to come and go to keep things fresh (I'm still upset over Ash and Ellen).

All in all, this season is shaping up to be really great! :cheer
