Well it's finally here. And irismay has given us all a mindblowing ending!
Read on, let the games commence...
The End of All Things Part One :evil :fire
irismay42 - December 20, 2010 10:44 PM (GMT)
We made it. We really made it. *sighs* :hi5
irismay42 - December 20, 2010 10:55 PM (GMT)
While I'm here, I'd just like to thank all VS contributors past and present - writers, artists, betas, cheerleaders, and especially our loyal readers - for all their help, guidance, encouragement, and Supernatural love over the last four years and five(ish) months since the first episode, "Guardian" by Burstynout and Kittsbud, aired. We couldn't have done it without any of you.
And yes, that really was July 2006.
Special thanks to Kittsbud for all her hard work and the burgers.

Well, I just have to say, that when I logged in today I must have sat there staring at my computer screen for at least three minutes, my finger hovering over the button, trying to click on Part one. I kinda felt like I was back in school awaiting news on how I did on the "big test". The nervous anticipation just churning away in the gut all the while just knowing that it was going to turn out better than okay. And then I read it and just sat there stunned. What an amazing beginning. I must have read this twice before I could process everything. Fantastic job to all involved. :thumbsup It just makes this that much more bittersweet to know that it's all coming to an end. But man, what a ride to the end it'll be! Congrats to all on a job very well done. :clap
Oceane - December 21, 2010 04:05 AM (GMT)
Strong start for the last episode of the VS. Dean, Sam, John all apart from each other but with the same goal, saving each other and the world from Lucifer. I'm looking forward for Tuesday's part.
irismay42 - December 21, 2010 06:00 AM (GMT)
Thanks guys! I'm glad you're enjoying it so far!
And Mary? Sounds like you were almost as nervous as me!
Stokes - December 21, 2010 11:23 AM (GMT)
Normally, I don't like reading other VS's as I don't want their work to influence the story of my own. But damn, I cannot resist the original, easily the best out of all five (no offense meant to the others because that statement does include mine).
Congrats to all involved!
kittsbud - December 21, 2010 05:25 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the kind words everyone, and for sharing the burgers, irismay! ;)
Here is the next mindboggling part. I'm part of all this, but iris had me gawking with this amazing piece of writing when I read it!
And as irismay said, thank you everyone, for sticking with us on the ride, it's been a real rollercoaster. :)

Oh wow, praise indeed! I've not really looked at the other VSs for the very same reason - bad enough that our Lucifer story got Kripked!!

Exactly. I mean, I feel comfortable doing it now because we have our entire seven-season arc planned from beginning to end. But until that happened, I didn't want other work to affect ours.
Oceane - December 22, 2010 02:56 AM (GMT)
Irismay, you know how to keep us guessing, I've no idea what you've in store for Dean and Sam. Sam is in big trouble but his powers saved his friends' live and Dean is the master of the Salomon's sword but I'm anxious to know if the sword'll be enough to kill Lucifer. I can't wait for tomorrow to come. The more I read, the more it saddens me to know that it's truly the end of this amazing virtual series.

Let's find out a little bit more about the puzzle...

Me either!
Thanks for continuing to read, guys! Part 3 is a little, um, brain hurty in places! Stick with it! Hopefully it'll all make sense eventually!!
Oceane - December 23, 2010 03:29 AM (GMT)
Wow!What a storyline it's so creative, irismay you outdone yourself with this one. Lot of tension and suspense in this chapter, I'm gnawing at my nails waiting for more.

You've made my day, Oceane! I was really worried no-one was going to be able to get their heads around that part! :cheer

There's an understatement if I've ever heard one...Lol!
Amazing episode so far though! Although I must say I'm actually dreading Friday. I don't want it to end...This has been, without a doubt, one of the best series' I've read in a loooooong time. Four seasons of adventures and thrills...What a ride it's been! And I can never thank you guys enough for it. All of you writers are incredible! :cheer :cheer :cheer :cheer :cheer :cheer
kittsbud - December 23, 2010 02:11 PM (GMT)
I'm so glad the end was worth the wait. As irismay has said, thnaks for your long support on our little series.
And now for more...
The End of All Things Part Four
Oceane - December 24, 2010 03:21 AM (GMT)
Nooooooooo!!!! :o :o :o
Is it Friday yet???
Stokes - December 24, 2010 08:40 AM (GMT)
One more day to go...
You know, honestly, I'd be kinda happy if Kittsbud lost internet and we had to push off the airdate for the finale of the finale.
No offense meant, Kitts.
kittsbud - December 24, 2010 04:30 PM (GMT)
Nope, my internet is still here. Albeit it a little slow tonight hehe!
And here we go....
The End of All Things Part FiveAnd now, for the immortal WB line: That All Folks! Thanks to each and every one of you.
Have a very happy holiday, and an amazing New Year! :cheer
irismay42 - December 24, 2010 06:36 PM (GMT)
Just to echo Dawn: Merry Christmas to everyone who's supported us and enjoyed our noodlings over the years! Hope you enjoy the final part!
dottyoz - December 24, 2010 08:06 PM (GMT)
I feel I want to burst into song - I did it my way! Seems so fitting when you actually look at the words.
The VS has been a great experience for me - first and foremost as a reader and latterly as a writer. It's sad to see it end but what an ending!
Jx
Oceane - December 24, 2010 09:07 PM (GMT)
What an outstanding, brilliant way to end the story and the series, not with a whimper but a bang. Thank you irismay, you did my week, your writing talent show through start to end :clap
And thank you for ending it with everyone alive, I was a little worry lol :D
To all the authors and others who worked for the VS, thank you, the VS's a masterpiece, an achievement, I'll dearly miss it.
To all of you, I wish you Happy Holidays :cheer
Stokes - December 24, 2010 09:25 PM (GMT)
That was the best Christmas present I've received in a long time! What an ending!
Happy holidays to all involved -- you will sorely be missed.
irismay42 - December 24, 2010 11:30 PM (GMT)
Yay! So glad you enjoyed it guys!
Oh, Oceane, you know I'm a sucker for happy endings, right? I could never kill any of these great characters! (Unlike *cough* Kripke!!) We just need to find a way for AU VS Dean to meet AU Lisa and live happily ever after now!!
justannanow - December 27, 2010 08:48 PM (GMT)
THIS WAS THE WAY THE SHOW SHOULD HAVE ENDED IT!!!!
This was the perfect ending! You took the entire VS full circle with the special kids, the vengeful hunters and then you incorporated the show's arc into the story seamlessly. You left us all with a Sam that everyone could love, a Dean who played a role in the finale that no one could complain about, and a family that's allowed to heal from all the trials it had been put through.
Honestly, all of you authors, this is the way I honestly wished Kripke and company had gone. This is the way the writers should have steered us to. This is the story, mytharc, whatever that every SN fan could have been ecstatic with. You have left us with a story that had no betrayal, no breaking of the brother's bond, no nightmares of hell, no soullessness. And yet, without any of that, you still took us on a rollercoaster ride with suspense, angst, pain, friendship, family and victory.
I will probably always mourn the fact that the show, that Kripke, that Hollywood professionals did not follow the story told by amateur writers who happened to be fans of a little TV show.
Dawn, irismay, burstynout, tracer, carocali, tree, gaelic, thru terry's eyes, and all the authors who have contributed to this virtual series, I want to say Thank You. You all have shared with us something that the so-called professionals know nothing about; love for Dean, Sam, and the show Supernatural.
Hey, Dawn! You had better keep these stories up for a long long time. I know that I'll want to revisit this 'verse again and again in the years to come.
irismay42 - December 27, 2010 10:45 PM (GMT)
Is there an icon for blushing? Coz there totally should be!
Thanks, Anna! I think you just made my millennium! I'm so glad the ending worked for you guys. I can understand Kripke wanting to throw the boys off a cliff and Sera wanting to throw them off some more, but as I said to Oceane, I really want a happy ending and I want the boys to get a happy ending.
I don't doubt the show will get there, but I want my boys fixed, dammit!
In the meantime, I'm glad that our little story plugged a hole!
:cheer :cheer :cheer

Best ending EVER!!!! :happydance That was, hands down, no doubt about it, the BEST finale to one of the best series EVER!!! I was completely glued to the screen, literally, the entire time I was reading. I doubt I would've noticed if my own house was falling down around my ears, I was that captivated. LOL!
What an adventure this has been...and what amazing writers you all are! :bow :bow :bow Again, I can never thank you enough for providing these amazing stories for us. You guys rock!
And to my fellow readers, it's been an honor and a pleasure going on this ride with you all! :hug

I'd just like to ditto what irismay said to everyone. Your kind words about the season REALLY mean a lot. It's been a huge ride for us all and to finally come full circle and end it was both gratifying, and yet somewhat painful to think it's over.
Don't worry - the main VS site will be up for a VERY long time to come if I have anything to do with it. (which of course, I do hehe) So the stories will always be available over there.
After Christmas, I may even get time to start thinking about adding a few things to the VS site to keep it interesting. ;)
Thanks again everyone :hi5

That was an absolutely fantastic way to end such a great VS series! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and could not stop reading! I'm actually thankful that I waited until this was fully posted so I didn't have to wait 24 hours for the next chapter! This was, by far, the best group of fanfiction writers and stories that I've read! Thank you to all the VS writers for putting together such an entertaining group of stories for us readers! Bravo everyone! :clap
irismay42 - January 11, 2011 06:02 PM (GMT)
Aww thanks Lilly! And I can't tell you how much we appreciate you guys who came back week after week and left lovely comments like that for us!
tngmd - February 9, 2011 05:19 AM (GMT)
OMG! I know I'm completely late to the party, but I had to comment.
I'm totally in awe of the greatness of that ending! The entire episode was absolutely packed with blasts from the whole VS past. The guardians got together, the hunters joined forces, the special kids showed off their skills, Missouri and Kyle and Sarah backed them up.....incredible!
The final battle was epic. Sammy's harnessing of his mirroring power was the culmination of increasingly successful attempts to do something with his "gift". Dean taking up the sword of Solomon against the expanding demon army was a wonderful and heroic role for him to play at the end of all things. Then, when the Norse folks showed up........there were 2 things I thought of: Gudrun rocks and irismay rocks!
I'm so glad the boys were together and worked together in the end to kill Lucifer. I did get a bit worried about John's demise and then out came the ace up the sleeve: Michael! Awesome!
I don't know if it'll ever end nicely on the show.....but this ending was perfect!!
Kudos to all the wonderful writers that have captured our hearts and minds and imagination these past few years! You guys deserve a standing ovation! :clap
Thank you!!
irismay42 - February 9, 2011 05:44 PM (GMT)
Can you see me blushing from where you are?? Thanks so much for such a lovely review tngmd! It certainly was a challenge pulling together all the story threads that I kind of felt had been left hanging over our four years! I knew I wanted an epic battle with everyone involved, but I'm not brilliant at writing action, so I'm glad you thought I pulled it off!
Not to knock Swan Song, which I loved, and I will forever lie prostrate at Kripke's feet, but I really wanted an ending where the boys worked together to save the world. I know that's what Kripke was going for, but with moving on to a season 6, it really wasn't possible for him to write it that way - I'm sure he would have had Sam AND Dean going into the Pit if that had been the series finale. But as I'm a sucker for a happy ending, I just couldn't have the boys - or their allies - dying. And no way I'd ever kill John!!
I'm glad introducing Michael at the last minute didn't seem too much! I had an idea for a Michael fic way back during season 2 (after Houses of the Holy), and it never seemed to fit into the VS and I didn't have time to write it as a chapter fic. Then they brought him into the show and I couldn't do it anyway, so this seemed like a good way for me to finally get to write a little bit of Michael! And I prefer him as a good guy than the way he's been portrayed in the show to be honest!
Anyway, I'll stop blathering now! Just to say, I'm really glad you enjoyed it, and we've all really appreciated you sticking with us and all of your comments along the way! :cheer :cheer
