Tales the Devil Told Me

I don’t lie. All I need do is confirm your truths, tell you what you want to hear. Humans are so needy, so self-absorbed. They only want justification that what they desire is reasonable and deserved, not selfish or petty. All I do is give them what they want, what they need. What they believe they’ve earned.

They take it from there.

Evil is simply the whisper of want, lurking just beyond restraint.

An unfulfilled promise lying in the dark, waiting for man to welcome it into their lives.

If it feels this good, it couldn’t possibly be wrong…

Right?

The End

I can almost feel sympathy for him, almost. He speaks the truth in what was said, but the fact that he so earnestly plays upon on our weaknesses to me as is evil as if he would out right lie. The thing that scares me the most is that we are often all to willing to let him.

Another wonderful tidbit, well written to make the reader stop and think.

Yes, and isn't that what Luc depends on? The two tragic thoughts on evil are man is willing to believe what he wants to believe and that all evil needs to thrive is for good men to look away.

I think Kripke and company portrayed the devil brilliantly, soft-spoken and almost reasonable. I was glad that Dean called him for what he was, just like all the cockroaches he'd hunted his whole life. Maybe you have to be infinitely familiar with true evil to really understand and see it. Hunters certainly have seen their fair share of evil beings.

Thanks again, you're a great support for all the writers out there looking for feedback.

Take care, B.J.
