Prologue

POV: Emily Prentiss

My friend Rose was driving me to the hospital. I was staying after school from Latin Club. I couldn’t make it though the whole Latin Club. I saw the sign for the ER right in front of me. Rose park her car near the enter of the ER. Rose help me to the door. A nurse was standing behind a desk.
“May I help you?” she asked.
“My friend is having stomach pain” Said Rose before I could say anything.
“ You have to fill out these paper and a doctor will be right with you” said the nurse. Rose took the clipboard that had the paper on them from the nurse. We seat down in the almost empty waiting room. I filled out when I was done Rose give the paper to the nurse. A nurse that came from the ER called my name.
“Do you want to came with you?” asked Rose.
“No I’ll be fine” I said. I follow the nurse to a small examine room. A doctor came in after 20 minutes had past.
“ My name is Dr.Tor” he said tome.
“Nice to meet you” I said.
“ Now what seem to be the problem?” he asked me.
“ I been having on and off pain in my stomach” I said.
“Alright I’m going to examining you could you please laid back?” he asked.
I laid back on the hospital cot. The doctor examine my stomach. He push slightly on my stomach.
“Is this painfully? He asked.
“No” I said.
“ Alright sit back up” he said. I sit back up.
“ Emily I felt something in your abdomen and I need to ask could you be pregnant?” he asked.
“No” I said.
“I’m going to run a blood to make sure there nothing else worng” he said.
“Okay” I said.

Hour later

The doctor came back into the room. The pain was coming unable.
“Emily we run the blood test and it came back that you are pregnant” he said.
“How can that be I always used protection” I said. A wave of pain went thought My body.
The nurse came in with a machine
“ I going to get the ultra sound set up so we can look were the baby is” he said.
“Please lay back dear” said the nurse. The nurse but the cool gel on my stomach. I look at the image on the screen. Dr. Tor move the wand for the ultra sound machine. I heard a whooshing sound.
“ There the heart beat and I going to be a shock but you are in labor” said Dr. Tor. An other wave of pain went thought my body.
“ I going to give you something to make you comfortable” said Dr. Tor.
“ Dr. Tor could I put the baby up for adoption?” I asked.
“ Are you sure I mean you just found out about the baby?’ he asked.
“ My family is always moving I’m never in the same place for more then a year and I know that is wouldn’t be good for a baby” I said.
“ I call child service and your mother” he said.
“ My mother is out of town and she can’t know about this” I said.
“ Do you have any other guidance?” he asked.
“My father died when I was 3 year old” I said.
“ I tell child service that you are a runaway and that your parents are in California” said.
“ Thank you so much” I said. Dr. Tor left the room.
The nurse came back in to the room with a needle.

60 minutes


“ Emily when the next contraction come I need you to push” said Dr. Tor. I push so hard when the contraction. I push so hard that I couldn’t breath.
“ You are doing good, take a deep breath and I can see the head” said Dr. Tor.
“I never having sex again” I said. The nurse gave a little laugh.
“ I said that with my first baby too but I change my mind after 6 months” said the nurse.
I felt another contraction coming on.
“ Alright you need to push again” said Dr. Tor.
“ I see the baby shoulders and here came the legs” said Dr. Tor.
I heard a the wail of the baby.
“ You have a beautiful little girl” said the nurse.
“ Do you want to hold her?” asked Dr. Tor.
“ I don’t want to get attached” I said.
“ Alright she is very health and Child Service are here” said Dr. Tor. When Dr. Tor left the room a Woman in her 30’s walk in.
“ Hello Emily, My name is Lisa Keite” She said.
“ It nice to meet you” I said.
“ I need you to sign these paper and I will make sure that your baby a good home” she said. She give me the paper. I sign the paper and hand them back.
“ Thank you, I just wish I could have giving her a good home but I know I can’t” I said.
“ Emily I can see that you are a good person by putting your baby first and I happy that you decide this” she said.
“ When you older would she know who I’m?” I asked.
“ I write down your note if she want to find you” she said.
“ Thanks” I said.
Dr. Tor walk in the room.
“ We are going to hold you overnight to make sure the bleeding has stop” said Dr. Tor.
“ I have to paper I need so I will pick the baby up tomorrow” said Lisa. After Lisa left Dr. Tor brought my friend Rose see me.
“ Hey Emily how are you feeling?” she asked.
“ Did the Doctor tell you?” I asked.
“ No, what is it?” she asked. The tears started to roll down my cheeks.
“ I was pregnant and I give birth and I give the baby up for adoption” I said.
“ Oh I’m sorry Emily” said. Rose hug me and let me cry everything out.
