Title: Innocence
Description: How old were you when you lost yours?

Hi All!
This is my first story so please don't be too harsh! I am actually hoping to become a Scriptwriter one day and my ultimate dream will be having my own show which is just half as good as Supernatural so borrowing the boys from Kripke is good practice for me! ;)
This story is called Innocence, it is set the year after Mary died so Dean is 5 and Sam is 18 months, this is more of a Dean story than a Sam story but Sam is included as well, I have always wondered how John found out about hunting and how he got Dean involved so this is my version, I hope you enjoy! :D
I'm not sure how long it'll be, I am the very opposite to Kripke in the fact that I write as I go along, I could never sit down and plan something for 5 years  but it obviously works for him.
Anyway, here we go:
Oh, sadly Supernatural and the boys don't belong to me, all belong to Kripke and CW, I am just a fan girl who likes to play with them, luckily enough, neither of them get injured in this story (I don't THINK anyway) aren't I nice? but i'll return them in good health for Sept 10th at least!
Innocence
5 year old Dean Winchester sat on a worn down wooden chair with one elbow leaning on the matching worn down wooden table which was in a small kitchenette of a motel that he and his father, John Winchester were currently residing in, just last year Dean and his now 1 year old brother Sammy had lived in a house and had a loving mother, Dean flinched just thinking about her, he was told that he wasn't allowed to talk about her anymore as they were going to get revenge, whatever that meant, Dean had a feeling that one day he was going to learn.
Dean sighed, casually swinging his legs to and fro since he was too small for his feet to reach the floor, he leaned forward so that his cheek was resting on his hand which was leaning on the table and began making razzing sounds with his mouth, a sign that he was getting bored.
''Dean'' his fathers voice sounded out, strong, stern and firm, Dean jumped a little and looked up to his fathers exasperated face which was not far away as he stood holding some kind of journal.
''I know it is boring son but you need to learn this as it will save yourself and Sammy one day'' he continued ''Now, what have you learnt so far?''
Dean, fully paying attention again furrowed his brows in concentration for a moment before replying ''Bad things in the dark are real, they hurt people, your a hunter and when me and Sammy are bigger and you have trained us we're gonna be hunters too'' Dean looked at his father after he hadn't responded in a while ''Is that right Daddy?....I mean Sir'' Dean missed the days when he could refer to John as his Daddy, sometimes he forgot and slipped up.
John gave a tight smile, ''That's right son'' he went quiet again as he thought back to the day he had told Dean about what was really out there in the dark.
''What do you want to tell me Daddy?'' Dean's little voice rung out nervously as he didn't know what to expect from his Dad these days and half of the time he found himself in trouble over things he didn't understand, he knew it was because of his Mom, when his Mom went away no one was happy anymore, even baby Sammy cried all of the time except when he was with Dean, which made Dean proud of course.
John sat down on Dean's bed and took a deep breath before starting ''How do you feel about going on vacation? Just me, you and Sammy?'' Dean's eyes went wide with excitement and surprise, this was the last thing he was expecting, it had only been a few months since something bad happened to his Mom.
''Really? Where are we going? Camping? I like camping, remember when we went Daddy?'' Dean babbled as his 4 year old self became overly excited.
''No Dean, I thought about a road trip in the Impala, you like riding in the Impala huh?'' John had a hint of hurt in his voice that the then 4 year old failed to catch because he was simply too young, Dean nodded in response ''When I grow up, I want a car just like the Impala but I also need a Fire Truck because I want to be a Fireman '' John couldn't help but produce a small smile, he wanted to be a Fireman, Mary, his Mother had died in a fire, Dean was such a wise boy for his age and John frowned as he knew he'd have to take advantage of that and he also knew that Dean wouldn't be getting that Fire Truck, he had recently found out that Mary was a hunter through another hunter named Bobby, he found out from Bobby about the horrors in the world, he remembered how much he had freaked out at first and now he was about to do the same to his son, his 4 year old son.
''That's nice son, now Dean, what I'm about to tell you is a little scary but I am gonna have to ask you to brave like I, uh, like I ask you to be brave about your Mom ok?'' Dean nodded ''I can do that'' John took in a big breath, ran his hand over his face and continued ''Monsters are real son'' Dean's eyes were as wide as saucers ''Like the closet monster? But you said he wasn't real'' Dean threw a quick glance at the closet ''No Dean, he isn't real, but some monsters are and we are going on the road trip to go and fight them'' Dean looked back at his father ''You want to fight them? Like Batman?'' John couldn't help the small laugh that came from him ''Not quite, Uncle Bobby taught me how to fight them after we stayed down there when your Mom...'' ''Went to heaven with the angels?'' John signed ''Angels aren't real Dean'' ''But Mommy...'' ''I know what she said but she was wrong, she just didn't know any better son, angels and heaven, they aren't real'' Dean's eyes filled with tears ''Daddy, where is Mommy then?'' John looked his son in the eye and answered honestly ''I don't know''
John came out of memory lane as Sam's cries filled the room, he glanced to the door where the cries were coming from and walked towards it ''Dean, I'm just going to get your brother, when I come back I want you to be able to tell me how to kill a Spirit and that's an order you hear me?'' ''Yes Sir'' came Dean's strong response, he had learnt that after the conversation when he found out that monsters were real but angels weren't that his dad became another person, he learnt what following an order meant and he had to follow an order or one day it could get himself or Sammy killed, he also learnt what killed meant, that was the grown up word for going away and never coming back, that is what happened to his Mom and he didn't want that to happen to himself, he especially didn't want that to happen to Sammy, whilst John was hunting Sammy was the only person Dean had.
John came back in the room cradling Sam in his arms a few minutes later who was now happy, John put Sam in his pack and play and looked at Dean expectedly ''Well?'' ''You kill them by salting and burning there bones, you have to find where they are buried'' ''Good boy, and what do we do to stay safe in motels?'' ''Salt the doors and windows so they can't get us'' ''Correct, your a quick learner Dean, one more thing and then we'll go through loading the shotgun again, you need more practice with that, what do you tell strangers about us son?'' ''Nothing sir'' ''Correct, now go and get me the shotgun, it is in my room''
As Dean bounded off into his bedroom John held Sammy close to him and had a look of determination on his face, he knew his boy would become a hunter, he knew Sammy would become a hunter and together one day, they'd get revenge.
:evil What do you think? The next one will be longer I promise. :) Thanks for reading!

Thanks for the reviews so far!
Aislinn - I am very curious where I am going to take this too lol, I have a few little scenes planned but that's about it, like I said before, I usually think, type and hope for the best, has worked pretty well so far! :)
Superboys - I am glad you are enjoying it so far, here is another update so your not waiting anymore!
Here we go!
John spent the rest of the afternoon teaching Dean how to load the shotgun, it had taken all afternoon but Dean had taken to it like a natural, just like the other hunting techniques John had taught him so far.
John looked down and smiled at his son, obvious pride etched in his face ''Your a natural hunter Dean'' Dean looked up from cleaning the gun and smiled in return, he wasn't exactly sure if that's exactly what he wanted to do when he grew up but he hadn't seen his Daddy smile like that in so long that he decided there and then that if that is what made his Dad happy, that is what he'd become ''Really?'' Dean's voice was full of surprise.
''Yes son, I think we'll get you started on fighting techniques soon, remember Bobby?'' Dean nodded but fear was clear in his eyes, fighting? he didn't want to hurt anyone but he kept quiet, his Daddy wouldn't hurt anyone either and these things were monsters he reminded himself, they deserved to die, things like that killed peoples Mommys, that is what his Dad had told him.
''Bobby taught me everything I know so i'm going to teach you everything you know'' he continued ''What about Sammy?'' ''I'll teach him too but when he is older'' Dean glanced at his baby brother playing with a mixture of toys on the floor ''I could help'' ''That's an awesome idea, good boy''.
Suddenly John's cell phone rang making both of them jump, Dean listened to the one sided conversation.
''Bobby? a hunt? Sure, Pastor Jim will have the boys right? He can't? Well what am I suppose to do with them? The hunt is in a daycare? No! I can't risk my boys like that, damn right I have that choice, Dean doesn't like research anyway and he is still learning to read, I know he does but that isn't the point, We can check it out because I never turn a hunt down but I am not promising anything, 10 minutes? Fine'' and John ended the call.
''Do you and Bobby have a hunt Sir?'' Dean already knew the answer but he was treading on careful ground as by the look on John's face, his Dad wasn't in the best of moods. ''Yes son, I might not take it yet though, Pastor Jim is out of time'' ''I could take care of Sammy, I remember everything you taught me'' ''I don't know Dean, your still a little young and you have barely practiced shooting'' ''But you said I was a good shot Daddy and I remember one of your important rules, shoot now, ask questions later'' ''We'll see, the hunt is in a daycare so me, you and Sammy are gonna go check it out ok?'' ''Yes Sir''.
10 minutes later they were at the daycare, the owner had shut the place down to the public as children had been mysteriously freaking out, going hysterical and eventually dying, which was why John wasn't happy that he had to take his boys there, he had only risked it because the children that had died were all quiet and shy, Dean wasn't and Sam was far too young so he decided that it should be safe enough.
''Daddy, what is Sammy looking at?'' Sam was in his stroller and appeared to be smiling at someone, the problem was, no one was there.
John glanced down at Sam ''Sammy'' he called, Sam looked up from whatever he was looking at and smiled, he seemed to be fine but looks can be decieving.
Distracted with Bobby showing up, John forgot about the situation.
''Hey'' came Bobby's gruff greeting ''So I cleared it with the owner, she was a friend of the wifes so it wasn't too hard, she just wants to be able to open up again''
John nodded ''So, did you speak with the latest victims family?'' Bobby's face turned grim ''Yeah, her name was Ella Jones, 5, parents said that nothing out of the ordinary happened leading up to her death except that she would have nightmares that she refused to talk about and towards the end she just stopped talking, they found her dead in her bed, she had been stabbed'' John's face turned grim as well, this girl was the same age as Dean ''What did the police reports say?'' Bobby shrugged ''Nothing much, they suspected the parents at first as there was no forced entry, her bedroom had been overturned yet the parents claim that they didn't hear anything'' John nodded, taking in the information ''The other victims have the same stories?'' ''Pretty much, Ella was the 3rd kid this month'' ''So are you sure it is a spirit?'' ''Yeah, I checked the house, EMF is silent but I found ectoplasm everywhere'' John glanced at his boys ''I want to kill the son of a bitch I do but I don't know about leaving the boys alone'' Bobby nodded, he understood ''I know but you have trained Dean for something like this and he's a good kid'' ''Yeah, your right'' John took Sam's stroller and called for Dean ''C'mon son, we need to do some researching, practice your reading'' Dean groaned ''It's an important part of hunting son'' ''Yes sir''.
At the library, John and Dean were looking through books, they had been for the past 2 hours now, Bobby had taken Sam off their hands.
Dean slammed the book down ''I can't find anything, son of a...'' ''Don't complete that sentence boy'' ''Sorry sir, I just wanted to be like you'' John smiled ''I can't find anything either son'' A comfortable moment of silence passed ''Dad?'' Dean started to enquire ''Yes Dean?'' John didn't look up ''Are you really going to let me take care of Sammy tonight?'' John looked up into his eyes ''I am pretty sure, like Bobby said, I have trained you well for this'' Dean nodded repeatidly ''I'll watch out for him Sir, I swear'' ''I know you will, that is the most important order you hear me? Watch out for Sammy'' Dean again nodded ''Yes Sir''.
John looked at his son and smiled, Dean was going to be the perfect hunter, he never questioned orders, he was smart, quick and sharp and he loved that little brother of his so much, he knew then that no matter what they'd both be fine because they had each other.
:evil What do you think? I hope you enjoyed! Not quite as long but I needed to end it there. I think they'll be a few more parts, 2? Maybe 3?. The action is really going to get started soon. :)

Liking the story. It breaks my heart though that 5 year old is already so grown up.
Superboys - July 30, 2009 09:26 PM (GMT)
Dean seems mighty grown up for 5 that's for sure. My boys are the same years apart and I know when my son was 5 he didn't do much more than hand me diaper and tickle his brother's chin.
Also don't mean to be nit picky and I'm showing my age but in 1984 when Dean would've been 5, cell phones weren't around yet. Yes there was a world without cell phones and internet.
Way to update, usually when my muse starts I can't stop it. Sometimes it is better to just sit and type and not overthink it. Some of my stuff ended up too complicated and I had to really think!
Anywho...keep it up...poor little mature Dean.
