Today, I will showing you how to achieve
this coloring. This tutorial will be SELECTIVE COLOR heavy. So I apologize to those in advance who don’t have that feature. Major bummer. :(
First, start out with your
base. Feel free to use another pic of your choice. Duplicate it two times.
-the first duplicate set to SCREEN at 30%
-the second duplicate set to SOFT LIGHT at 30%
Then go to new adjustment layer -> selective color.
Reds-
C: -100
M: -4
Y: +24
B: +41
Yellows-
C: -38
M: -3
Y: -100
B: -37
Cyans-
C: +100
M: -14
Y: -100
B: +100
Neutrals-
C: -4
M: +4
Y: -3
B: 0
Blacks-
B: +24
Now, new adjustment layer -> Color Balance.
Midtones :
C-R : -9
M-G: -9
Y-B: -17
Shadows:
C-R: +13
M-G: +6
Y-B: +22
-make sure preserve luminosity box is checked.
Make a new selective color layer-
Reds-
M: -20
Then crtl+alt+shift+e (stamp layer)- set that Katie layer to - SCREEN at 25%
Add another selective color layer-
Reds-
C: -16
M: +1
Y: +7
B: +16
Yellows-
C: +100
M: -11
Y: -47
B: 0
Now, layer -> new adjustment layer-> gradient map. Make a black and white gradient map. Make sure that neither reverse or dither is checked. Put the gradient map layer on LIGHTEN at 22%
Last selective coloring layer, I promise. ;)
Reds-
C: -100
M: +6
Y: -9
B: 0
Yellows-
C: +100
M: -38
Y: +33
B: +6
Cyans-
C: +100
M: -100
Y: -66
B: +100
Fin! That’s it. Not too hard, eh? If you have any questions on anything feel free to ask.

ok I've got photoshop now but it's a nightmare,I'm feeling so stupid
I wanted to use this tut to make an icon so I put the sizes(100x100)and then I wanted to add my pic but I have no idea how to do it because I can't resize the image :( someone can help me please?
Sacrifice16 - October 12, 2009 09:15 PM (GMT)
there's two ways to resize that i know of with photoshop.
first one is to go to image->image size and enter in what you would like your image size to be.
OR
clickjust click on any of the little squares..make sure up at the top the "show transform tools" is checked. on mine you can see that it is.
after that..
clickmake sure that needs to be clicked is and then you can drag to what size you'd like it to be. then after you're done click the check mark near the right side of the top of the screen.
gah and i'm sorry if this doesnt make any sense. i reallly can't explain things well. haha.
then to drag the resized image to the 100x100 canvas just drag it
