I used a different program, and the quality of the image (as you can see) is really bad...so I was hoping that someone could write a tutorial, or point me in the direction of one thats easy to use, and is for PS7/imageready...

Hey there...I don't know much about PS but I think for an animation you have to keep the layers seperate (Like slides) and then save the image..."for web and devices"...I think
...then it will be animated...
it should save as a .gif image...

I use GIMP to make all of my digital art work and it's great for making animations too eg:...

this is actually really easy to do...it's getting the caps and placing the layers that takes time...

It's all about the layers...the more layers the longer the animation tends to be...although you can change the timings for each layer in GIMP I'm not sure how to in PS...

so all I can really suggest is add a few layers...say try 2 different banners do...5 layers of one banner...then five more layers with the other banner...Or you could try on a smaller scale with avatars ;)

I hope you can savethe layers seperated

when it does save an animation don't worry if it does work how you wanted, or that it's not perfect, just keep trying it, trail and error

Good luck ;)

how do you use gimp to do animations?

Depends on what kind of animation...

If literaly a banner changing to another banner then I make/pick the 2 banners i want to use then I simply duplicate the banners a bunch of times so that there are about 15 layers of one banner then another 15 layers with the other banner..I then click on "File", "Save" then enter the banner/file name...EG: Animatedbanner1.gif...that's the main part...It must be a .gif image to work..then it asks you if you want to flaten the layers or save as animation...click on save as animation then click enter, change the "delay between frames"...I usually chnge it to 10 Millesecons as mostly i do vid style icons etc...

and you get something like this ^_^

for a vid banner/icon it is the same deal...but it's getting the long sequence of caps that can be a bitch...BTW gimp can take Screencaptures too...

Would you like me to draw up a proper tutorial for animation in gimp?...It'll take a little while but i can do it with caps to show you exactly what buttopns to press, which might be easier to folloe than this post *Facepalm*

...I've been told that my tuts are particularly easy to follow..In theory at least :P
