to any authors that post on ff.net and to any of my readers, i promise i am trying to update but that site is down again. you can still read stories (at the moment) but i wont let anyone log in.

i updated at supernaturalville.net and i will try once ff.net is working, but lord only knows when that will be.

I tried posting there too. It's been doing that all day long. I'm so frustrated!

:angry: you cant even email them to say that there is a problem without logging in. ggrrr. i hope they figure it out for themselves soon.

At the moment ff.net is really anoying me

all the storys in mt favs that say they have been updated wont let me into the new chapters and some times there are even less chapters then there were b4 then an hour later there back and can't get in2 some of the chapters the 1 hour after that there gone again. :bang :bang :bang :bang :bang :bang :bang :bang :comp :comp :comp

i know, it has been doing that for days. i know that they have multiple servers and every once and a while one or two of the servers freaks out. usually, when that happens the site thinks it is several different days. that's why, when you refresh it it sometimes says that the most recent story was updated several days ago and then it will say that it was updated today. it is really annoying and it makes it hard to post. i know the last time that happened it took them a long time to fix it.
i try not to post whenever there are problems becuase then no one can read or review. they really do need to figure something out over there, the site is down more often then it is working.

ok, i have searched and searched over at ff.net, but ever since they chaned the layout around there is no way to email them with a complaint or promblem. does anyone know how to do it, or are they just not gonna listen to people anymore?? :bang :bang

Been trying to get onto FF.net this morning, but keep getting directed to a new site were they say they have installed Apache something or other, and something about if you can't see the site contact the moderators????

DOES ANYBODY KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS?? i NEED MY FANFIC FIX!!!

hm, i got on just fine, every once and a while it sends you to an advertizing site, but you just have to click 'goto fanfiction.net' in the top left hand corner.

that site is really starting to ge to me. :comp

It is acting up again. It will not update the stories. It has the same ones on the first page for two days. Just wanted to let everyone know that Fanfic.net is having problems again.

from the looks of it it has been down since yesterday. the first few stories listed were the same yesterday afternoon.
the worst part is that since they revamped the site, there is no longer a way to email them with problems, you just have to wait for them to figure it out.

I'm getting really annoyed with FF... there really should be a way of contacting them.

I agree, there most definately should be a way of contacting them because I've been trying to upload a document and it comes up with 'If problem persists pleace contact blah di blah with the following link' and then it doesn't work!

as of lunchtime thursday, it is still down. ggrrr. i think that site is just gonna keel over and die soon. it's been having so many problems lately.

I wouldn't be surprised. I have to say that it is officially doing my nut in. I like the site... hate the problems.

yeah. three people have posted and they keep saying that they found away around the problem, but they wont tell anyone what it is. gggrrr.

I can't find my story, I keep updating and it is never there. I posted a one-shot and it was there after 15 minutes, but the chapter one wasn't there, I can never find it in the list, but if I search it I can find it.

But, who is going to search for it, they want to see it in the list, that is what people do they look at the list for the stories.

that site runs on multiple severs and they are often out of sync. that's what causes all the problems. usually, when they have uploading issuse like they did the past few days it take another few days for the main show page to sync up. so there will be some stories that have been posted or updated that day that arnt up, and some stories that were updated days ago listed as newly done.
if that is the case, it will most likely be another few days before it is all running right again. and then who knows how long before it crashes once again. :bang

Thanks to all you guys I've been wondering what the heck was going on. I've been waiting to see all the fics Im following updated, but so few things have been posted in the last few days - Im having serious withdrawal symptoms again :angry:

I haven't been on it since last w/e but I just tried to post a one-shot. I can log on ok and access everything fine except it wont let me upload my file. Then it says report it to ff.net only the link doesn't work, lol.

I haven't tried uploading in the last few days, but the site is VERY annoying when it's down. There is nothing you can do excpet give yourself a headache by banging it aganist your computer.

Demonhunter, I've got the same problem with my own work. Whenever I do update, it nevers goes to the front page...you can only find it under what it's listed ! I'm surprised anyone ever finds the damn thing !

it is now day three and still no uploads. about three or four people have figured out a way to do it, but they havnt said what it is. hopfully the people over at ff.net will figure out that their site inst working and fix it. though i have to say, this is the longest i remember the uploads being down.

Your all telling me! GAA! I've been trying to upload stuff for some of my Supernatural stuff and when I go to upload it, all it says is: We encountered an unexpected error. All errors are logged for review. Or something like that. I've been trying to upload new chapters since yesterday! I swear, FF.net used to be better when I first joined in 2003! That was four years ago though... Anyways, anyone else have any thoughts about this frustrating topic?

all of ff.net's problems started a few months ago when they went global. they added several servers in other countries to help take some of the load off their american servers. but ever since then, it has just been one problem after another. they have even changed locations and they are still having problems.

I just asked someone who has managed to update their story how they did it and they told me that they exported their old chapter and replaced the text with the new one. So if this works for me - many thanks to JayneFaire on FF.net.

well, i tried that and it worked, but because i dont have internet explorer, the formatting is all screwed up. (i have a mac and i use safari as my internet) i could post, but it was one giant, jumbled paragraph. :angry:

oh well, i guess no updated from me till they fix the site. :bang

thanks for the info anyway, ray. if i am really ambicious i may put it on my home network and try using the downstairs computer. that's got explorer.

FINALLY!!!!!
i finally got my new chapter posted over at ff.net. phew. i followed ray's advice, but since i have an apple it wouldnt work. so i moved the chapter from a private folder to my home network (thank god iworks is compatiple with word) and then had to cut and paste in with my downstairs computer since that has explorer. WOW!!! i hope that they fix that site soon, that was just way too much work for me.

I just tried to post & I can't upload my chapter

go to a story that you have already written and export a chapter (it doesnt matter which) then go to documents and edit that chapter. erase what was there and cut and paste the new chapter, then, go to the story you want to update and select the exported chapter.
i just did that and i can get the new chapter from my live preview, and my email, but when you go to the story list page it isnt there. i dont know what's wrong with that site. the chapter is there, but not everyone can get it. :bang

My ones a new story though, so I don't have anything to export.
