NOW: ** Lancaster, Ohio. Enter: Sophie 16 years old, jeans, white t-shirt, leather jacket. Brown eyes, brown hair, petite. She’s walking down a street littered with shops and stores. Its 11:30 there is no one on the street, not even cars driving by. She is listening to her iPod (“Tonight, Tonight” by The Smashing Pumpkins), it starts to skip and die out only she isn’t confused she knows what it means. She puts her iPod away, only to replace it with a knife and starts to look around, starts walking a little slower. A guy 19 or so, handsome, strong, bright blue eyes, blonde spiked hair, jeans, a tight black t-shirt, grabs her arm from behind and pulls her to a stop.**
DEMON: "Don't scream."
SOPHIE: "Wasn't planning on it. I’m not a civie, but you already know that don’t you?"
DEMON: "Keep walking."
SOPHIE: "What do you want?”
DEMON: "A word."
SOPHIE: "About?"
DEMON: "I hear you can communicate with angels."
SOPHIE: "You heard right, now let go of my arm before you lose yours."
DEMON: "Oh a feisty little one."
SOPHIE: "I may be young but I suggest you let me go. I can run circles around other hunters and you know that but, that's why you sought me out. Isn’t it? Tell me, what's your name?"
LYLE: "Lyle and you’re Sophie."
SOPHIE: "Well Lyle I would say it's nice to meet you but I'd be lying through my teeth."
LYLE: "Ouch I’m hurt."
SOPHIE: "Yeah I’m sure. So about this angel...I’d like to limit the time I have to spend talking to a demon."
LYLE: "Yes well talking to a hunter isn’t at the top of my Christmas List either. I need your help tracking him down so I can kill him.”
SOPHIE: "An angel? Well that’s gonna be a neat trip. Who and why?"
LYLE: "Castiel...It’s for a friend.”
*She is silent.*
LYLE: "I know about you and your family."
**Flashback: Sophie is 6 years old. There is a party going on, lots of people present. Then a chaos, people are running around screaming. The noise we can hear in the background is the same we've heard when Castiel was "speaking" to Dean. It’s an angel’s true "voice". Through all the screaming, we focus in on Sophie who is just standing there asking questions, she is calm. She can understand the angel, Castiel. Her mother, father and all others eyes are burned out and they perish. She is too young to understand but is left crying over her parents limp bodies. Left all alone in the world she started research. It’s the reason she began hunting.**
LYLE: "You were young when you spoke to him last. Only a child I was told."
*ignoring the horrible memory it brings back she continues.*
SOPHIE: "Why is he topside? How did you find out about it? He isn’t exactly a walking billboard. He knows how to make himself invisible."
LYLE: “No, he knows how to make himself nearly invisible. And it was the Winchesters. He’s the one who pulled Dean out of the pit."
SOPHIE: "The Winchesters?”
LYLE: “You know them?”
SOHPIE: “I know of them.”
LYLE: “I see, and how is that?”
SOPHIE: “I get the newsletter. How do you think? I’m a good hunter and I keep up with what’s going on. When something as big as the Devils Gate goes down; we all know about it. Got any idea why he did it?”
LYLE: "No one knows."
SOPHIE: "Exactly what I would except from a low level demon. You want to walk in there with half the information. Hate to break it to you but you’ll be dead where you’re standing."
LYLE: "Don't you want revenge?"
SOPHIE: "Revenge isn't worth anything if you’re dead. Castiel is smart he's not just going to show up and wait to be killed by the likes of you. He knows what's up. I’m sorry but I can't help you."
LYLE: "What if your life depended on it?"
*Sophie starts to choke and falls to her knees but puts her hand out and flings the Lyle against a wall*
SOPHIE: "(taking a deep breath) Now that wasn't very nice. You should mind your manners Lyle."
LYLE: "I had almost forgotten that you had powers of your own."
SOPHIE: "It comes with the territory I guess."
LYLE: "I need you to do this for me Sophie and I know deep down that you want to see him pay for what happened to your parents. How about I disappear for a while you ask for the Winchesters help on a case and create a connection to Dean. Then when the time is right I’ll put you in peril, damsel in distress that whole deal. He will show up to save you with Castiel in tow. That’s when I’ll hold up my end of the deal by killing the bastard. You won't be harmed I promise. We both win."
SOPHIE: "Crossing the Winchesters is a bad idea and…”
LYLE: “It’s a risk I’m willing to take.”
SOPHIE: “Let me finish. And, I wouldn't take a demons word for crap. I can't promise you anything but…I do need help on a case. Do you know how I can get a hold of the famous Winchester boys?"
SUPERNATURAL
**Scene: Sam and Dean in a motel room. They aren’t speaking; the tension is so thick you can cut it with a knife. Sam is on the computer and Dean in on the opposite side of the room cleaning out a gun.**
SAM: “When are you going forgive me for this Dean?”
DEAN: “Sammy it’s gonna take time. I don’t even know when you are being honest with me.”
SAM: “Dean…”
DEAN: “You lied to me Sam and I’m not going to talk about it anymore.”
*the phone rings.*
DEAN: “Hello? Yes this is Dean Winchester.”
*mumbling on the other end of the phone but you can make out “need your help”.*
DEAN: “Who is this…okay, Lancaster; yeah we’re about 4 hours away from there. We’re on our way.”
*he hangs up the phone. A look of confusion spread across his face.*
SAM: “Who was that?”
DEAN: “A hunter said her name was Sophie Bennett. She needs our help on a job. Sounded young, and hot…hehe.”
SAM: “How did she get your number?”
DEAN: “She said she had some connections.”
SAM: “We better call Ellen or Bobby; see if anyone has heard of her.”
DEAN: “Since when do you play it safe? If she is a demon then you can just send her back to Hell yourself can’t you?”
SAM: “Dean, I you know I don’t do that…”
DEAN: “No I got it Sam you don’t need to explain anything to me, but this girl sounds legit, so we’re going.”
SAM: “Fine.”
**Scene: Sophie is in a small apartment in her pajamas, sitting in the living room sharpening a knife. It’s about 11:00 at night. Music plays in the background. Someone knocks on the door. She gets up to answer it.**
DEAN: “We’re looking for Sophie.”
SOPHIE: “You found her, are you Dean?”
DEAN: “Yes, wait you’re…?”
SOPHIE: “Sophie, and yes I’m a hunter. No joke.”
SAM: “You’re…?”
SOPHIE: “You must be Sam. Hi it’s nice to meet you.”
SAM: “Yeah, you too. Aren’t you a little young to be a hunter?”
SOPHIE: “Well we don’t pick our lives Sam; you of all people should know that.”
SAM: “I guess you’ve got a point there.”
SOPHIE: “Are you gonna come in or do I have to prove to you I’m really a hunter?”
DEAN: “No we will. But how do you know about us?”
*they walk into the house and sit down at the dining room table.*
SOPHIE: “Who hasn’t heard about you boys? You’re pretty famous.”
DEAN: “We aren’t looking for fan club members this month, sorry.”
SOPHIE: “Not what I meant. Huh…”
DEAN: “What?”
SOPHIE: “They weren’t joking when they said you were a smart ass. It’s actually something we have in common.”
SAM: “They?”
SOPHIE: “Other hunters who have told me about you. Plus…”
DEAN: “Plus what?”
SOPHIE: “Plus, like Sam I have a little bit of an upper hand on the other side as well.”
*both look at her in shock.*
DEAN: “What do you mean?”
SOPHIE: “Are you shocked because I know about Sam or because I have my own gifts?”
SAM: “I’d say a little bit of both, combined with the honesty.”
DEAN: “I never thought a conversation with a teenager could be tolerable or interesting but go on.”
SOPHIE: “Well if we are going to be working together on this case then I figured I should be the one to tell you. I can communicate with angels, and can control humans and demons with telekinesis. I’ve been able to do it since I was little.”
DEAN: “Since? What do you call yourself now?”
SOPHIE: “Trust me Dean; I have enough experience with this stuff to keep up with the both of you. I can handle myself. I’m not some reckless idiot; I know what I’m doing.”
DEAN: “Touchy, touchy.”
SAM: “Sophie?”
SOPHIE: “Yeah?”
SAM: “Do you live here all alone?”
SOPHIE: “I do, yeah.”
SAM: “What happened to your parents?”
*she is silent and looks to the ground.*
DEAN: “Oh, I’m sorry”
SAM: “Yeah.”
SOPHIE: “Don’t be…don’t you have your deep dark secrets that you keep from everyone?”
SAM: “Sure.”
*Sam looks to Dean, who is staring a Sophie. She is reaching for some papers on a messy desk a few feet away from the dining room table.*
DEAN: “What is that?”
SOPHIE: “What’s what?”
DEAN: “On your hip?”
SOPHIE: “Oh this? It’s a protective symbol that st…”
DEAN: “I know what it is, we have the same ones. How did you get it?”
SOPHIE: “This tattoo artist didn’t have the heart to turn away a 14 year old girl who wanted to get a tat in “remembrance of her dead parents.” You can’t be too careful.”
DEAN: “You’re pretty smart I’ll give you that.”
SOPHIE: “Thanks, so about this case. It’s a sprit or at least that’s as far as I’ve gotten. He or she is haunting this local house, people keep going in and either don’t come out or if they are they don’t say much. They are almost like vegetables. I’ve talked to two of the victims who made it out…well if you could call what they are alive.”
DEAN: “Who are they?”
SOPHIE: “Rachel Turner and Jacob Sanchez…”
*she places pictures of them on the table in front of Sam and Dean.*
SOPHIE: “…and let me tell you, it was difficult to even get a look from them, they were both in shock. And another odd thing, the both have marks around their necks, like someone was trying to hang them. I asked the hospital staff what they thought was wrong and all they could give me was that severe shock put them into a “state of comatose while they are awake”. It’s nothing they’ve ever seen before.”
SAM: “And the people who don’t make it out alive?”
*as she is naming off the people, she matches them with a picture.*
SOHPIE: “There are five so far, all from different backgrounds and lifestyles. A single mother, family man, old woman, a 10 year old boy, a high powered business associate. There’s no pattern as far as I can tell. Only that, this house was the last place they were seen. However I talked to their families and friends and apparently they were distant from them in the weeks leading up to their death. Came in at odd hours of the night, barely spoke. I don’t know what’s up but it’s something.”
DEAN: “Where do you want to start?”
SOPHIE: “Well I think we should do a follow up with the families. Just to make sure there was nothing that I missed.”
SAM: “Yeah, that sounds like a good idea.”
SOPHIE: “Well it’s getting kind of late, we can pick it up tomorrow. You both are welcome to stay here. Unless you think a hotel room would be more comfortable.”
SAM: “Do you have room?”
DEAN: “No offense but we know hunting doesn’t exactly bring in the big bucks, and this place seems a little cramped as it is.”
SOPHIE: “Hunting may not bring in cash but cards sure do. You two seem to do fine as well, if you know what I mean.”
*her and Dean both smirk.*
DEAN: “I feel ya there.”
SOPHIE: “Wanna play me?”
DEAN: “Ha-ha maybe some other time.”
SOPHIE: “Well either way, there’s plenty of room here. The guest bedroom is back that way.”
*she points down a long hallway.*
SAM: “Thanks Sophie, we’ll see you in the morning.”
SOPHIE: “Bright and early.”
**Scene: Sam and Dean in their room. It’s bigger than they both expected. The apartment seemed small in the main part. But then see that there is only one bed. Dean mutters something under his breath. They start to talk.**
DEAN: “Wow”
SAM: “Yeah”
DEAN: “I mean really, wow. She’s so young.”
SAM: “Well Dean you remember how young we were when mom died.”
DEAN: “Yeah but Sammy we had dad. Sophie is all alone here. Plus dad was always there to protect us. She’s had to look out for herself for pretty much her whole life. It’s…”
SAM: “Impressive?”
DEAN: “Exactly.”
SAM: “No kidding.”
DEAN: “We need to look out for her.”
SAM: “Dean, like you said she’s taken care of herself since she was little. I’m not sure she needs, or would accept our help.”
DEAN: “I just want to keep an eye on her. I know that we don’t know her that well but I feel like this is the right thing to do.”
SAM: “Okay whatever you say Dean. Look we should get some shut eye alright.”
DEAN: “Yeah your right, night Sammy”
SAM: “Night Dean.”
**Scene: Its morning, around 6:30 a.m. Dean’s in bed, he can’t sleep there’s something about sleeping in the same bed with Sam that’s making him uneasy. He decides to get up and see if Sophie is awake. Whether or not he is willing to admit it there is something about her that is making him want to know more. He walks down the hall down to the main part of the apartment looking at the pictures on the walls. There are a couple of Sophie and her parents from when she was little. It looks like she is about 5 or 6 in them. He strolls into the dining room, Sophie is at a chair reading the paper and sharpening a knife.**
SOPHIE: “Morning sunshine. How’d ya sleep?”
DEAN: ”Nice and cozy, thanks. One bed? You’re a real crack up.”
SOPHIE: ”Aw don’t be like that, you two are brothers I figured it wouldn’t be that big of a deal.”
*she smirks.*
SOPHIE: “Coffee’s in the kitchen, mugs in the far cupboard.”
DEAN: “Yeah, yeah. Thanks. So, why are you up so early?”
*Dean goes to pour himself some coffee, then goes to sit across from her at the table.*
SOPHIE: “I’m an early riser. Plus, when I have a case that’s eating away at me, sleeping kinda takes the back burner, ya know?”
DEAN: “Absolutely. Speaking of, did you find anything else of about our little mystery creature?”
SOPHIE: “Well I checked the history of the house. Which is what I should have done from the start; it’s pretty nuts. I’m thinking that it’s a spirit of a man named Francis Denser; the lore on it pretty much matches what’s going on with the victims. The story goes he owned this house…
*she shows him a picture of the house next to a picture of him and his family.*
SOPHIE: “…back after the Civil War and he owned slaves, even though it was illegal at the time. One of them revolted and killed him and his entire family while they slept. Guess the scene was pretty grizzly. By the time the cops discovered the bodies hanging in the bedroom the slave was long gone. The next family to move in, in 1892 walked into the house and never walked out.
DEAN: “Un-huh.”
SOPHIE: “Someone or should I say something, killed them all pretty soon after they set up shop. A neighbor saw a girl “standing” in the window wearing a white nightgown everyday after they’d moved in and finally called the police. When they broke in the whole family was strung up wearing white nightgowns. Locals say that it was the spirit of the Denser and his family haunting the house after there death. Soon after that someone bought the property just to keep people out. She died one week before the killings started. Until now there haven’t been any survivors or people in the house so that would explain why I couldn’t find out anything about our comatose duo with the neck wounds.”
DEAN: “Alright, now we need to find out were he is buried and salt and burn the bastard.”
*Sam walks into the room and sits next to Dean.*
SAM: “Morning.”
SOPHIE: “Hey Sam.”
DEAN: “Well, we found out who our little mystery spirit. You wanna fill him in, I’m gonna go call Bobby to see if he’s found out anything more about these seals.”
SOPHIE: “Seals?”
SAM: “You know Lilith?
SOPHIE: “Not personally thank god.”
SAM: “Ha-ha yeah, well we found out that Lilith is trying to bust Lucifer out of Hell.”
SOPHIE: “Lucifer like Satan? The actual Devil?”
SAM: “The very one.”
SOPHIE: “What do you know?”
DEAN: “Not much just that she’s a pain in the ass, and we have to stop her.”
SAM: “She is breaking these 66 seals to get him out. That’s why the angels are here.”
SOPHIE: “Wait like revelations? And the Apocalypse?”
DEAN: “Yeah how’d you know about that?”
SOPHIE: “When you find out you can talk to angels the best way to research them is through the place where the legends began. The Bible was a good start. This is bad news guys. If the Bible isn’t just fiction and these seals are really being broken, then worst is yet to come.”
DEAN: “Yeah we know.”
SAM: “That’s why we have to stop Lilith.”
SOPHIE: “I can help.”
DEAN: “One case at a time.”
SOPHIE: “I know I’m just offering for when things start to go down. I could be a pretty good asset.”
SAM: “We’ll let you know what’s up.”
DEAN: “We will?”
SAM: “She deserves to know Dean.”
DEAN: “But…”
SOPHIE: “No. Don’t try to protect me because you think I’m too young to handle this. If Hell literally is coming to Earth then I’m gonna be shooting off rounds not sitting at home knitting.”
DEAN: “Fine. Well Bobby calls.”
*Dean walks out of the room and onto the back porch.*
SAM: “Don’t worry about him, he’s just…overprotective.”
SOPHIE: “Being his younger brother you would know right?”
SAM: “More than I would like to. Ha-ha.”
SOPHIE: “So about this case…”
**Scene: Dean outside dialing the phone and looks toward Sam and Sophie then once they are out of sight, he puts it away and Castiel appears behind him. They start to talk.**
DEAN: “Jeez, do you have to creep up like that all the time? I swear it’s like a freakin’ pop up picture book only every time I turn the page I still get you.”
CASTIEL: “I sensed you needed something Dean. What is it?”
DEAN: “I meet this hunter, and she told me she can speak to angels. I was wondering if you’ve ever come across her.”
CASTIEL: “What is her name?”
DEAN: “Sophie. Sophie Bennett.”
CASTIEL: “Yes I have. She was only a small child when I encountered her. Unfortunately her parents perished when we spoke.”
DEAN: “What happened?”
CASTIEL: “You remember what happened to your friend Pamela?”
DEAN: “Oh…does she know it was you?”
CASTIEL: “I’m certain she remembers. Dean you sound worried.”
DEAN: “No, I don’t know, maybe. When she said that she could talk to angels, she was a little harsh. Knowing that you killed her parents makes this more complicated. I’m going to talk to her about it tonight.”
CASTIEL: “Dean, please mention to her that I never intended for harm to come to her parents.”
DEAN: “I will, but I think it’s best if you stay away for a while Cas. At least until I figure things out with her.”
CASTIEL: “As you wish. Goodbye Dean.”
*He blinks and Castiel is gone and walks back into the dining room where Sophie has just finished telling Sam about the case. They have moved to the computer.*
SAM: “What’d Bobby say?”
DEAN: “Uh, not much, nothings changed.”
SOPHIE: “Bad news.”
DEAN: “What?”
SOPHIE: “He wasn’t buried. He was cremated, along with his entire family.”
DEAN: “Well is it ever easy?”
SAM: “Nope.”
SOPHIE: “Nah then it wouldn’t be fun.”
DEAN: “Ha-ha I hear ya.”
**Scene: 11:00 p.m. Inside of the Denser house. Sam, Dean, and Sophie are walking around, shotguns cocked and flashlights searching. The house is littered with old furniture, it’s dusty and dark. They walk upstairs to the room where his family was hung. It is empty, no furniture, nothing. Then suddenly…**
SOPHIE: “SAM BEHIND YOU!”
*Sam turns around to see the ghost of a woman standing behind him she is crying. Then she charges at them, he shoots the gun and she disappears.*
DEAN: “That was close.”
SAM: “Yeah no kidding.”
SOPHIE: “So it isn’t Denser?”
SAM: “No, that was his wife, I remember her from the picture.”
SOPHIE: “What?”
SAM: “Uh I should have seen it before.”
DEAN: “What are you talking about Sammy?”
SAM: “Yeah it makes sense, I mean wasn’t there something in the legend that mentioned his wife might have been having an affair with the slave that killed them?”
SOPHIE: “I think so. What do you think happened?”
SAM: “Well, my best guess is that he promised to take her with him when he got out but went back on his word and now she’s seriously upset and pissed. So now she’s killing anyone who sets foot in the house.”
SOPHIE: “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.”
SAM: “Ha-ha yeah.”
DEAN: “So now that we’ve figured out what’s keeping her here how are we waste her?”
SAM: “Well since she’s attached to the house and this room, there has to be something keeping her here.”
*Sophie is wandering around the room and comes to a closet door and stops. She opens it slowly, and turns to Sam and Dean.*
SOPHIE: “I think I found it.”
*she holds up a rope, it’s tied in the form of a noose.*
SAM: “That has to be it.”
DEAN: “Couldn’t be anymore obvious. But what are we supposed to do? I mean do you think just salting and burning the rope is going to work?”
SAM: “Well it’s worth a shot.”
*They walk outside the house and put the rope on the ground. Sam pours salt and gasoline on the rope. Dean lights a match and drops it on the rope. They hear a scream and look up. The wife’s spirit is hanging in the window crying. Then her figure burns with the rope.*
SOPHIE: “I wonder why someone would leave the rope in the house for so long.”
SAM: “Fear. Maybe they tried to get it out but she killed them. At least it’s over.”
DEAN: “That was pretty easy considering…”
SOPHIE: “Considering what?”
DEAN: “Nothing, forget I said anything.”
*Sophie looks toward Dean confused.*
SAM: “Alright well you wanna head back to your place?”
SOPHIE: “Yeah that sounds good.”
**Scene: back at Sophie’s place. She and Dean are sitting the living room. Sam is in the kitchen getting a glass of water. Sophie is reading a book on revelations and Dean is staring at her.**
DEAN: “You know about Castiel.”
*she looks up at him.*
SOPHIE: “What?”
DEAN: “He killed your parents and you know he’s the one who dragged me out of the pit.”
SOPHIE: “Yes, I know about him.”
DEAN: “So why didn’t you just say that from the start?”
SOPHIE: “Would you have trusted my intentions if I were to tell you how I knew him?”
DEAN: “Probably not. It’s just…”
SOPHIE: “Dean, I only asked you and Sam here because you are the best and I knew you could help me.”
DEAN: “Sophie that case was easy and you know it.”
SOPHIE: “I…”
SAM: “Whatcha talking about?”
DEAN: “Nothing.”
SAM: “Alright well I’m going to bed.”
SOPHIE: “Night Sam.”
DEAN: “Night Sammy. See you in a while.”
*Sam walks out of the room and down the hall. Finally reaches the bedroom turns around and waves then walks in.*
SOPHIE: “Dean, I found out I could talk to angels on the same day that my parents died. It’s not exactly an ideal situation, but I learned to deal. I became a hunter, learned to take care of myself and survived. Castiel became the least of my worries when I started to hunt. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you but I knew that you and Sam wouldn’t have helped me if I did.”
DEAN: “Sophie. I’m sorry about your parents…”
SOPHIE: “It’s fine. Listen I’m gonna go for a walk. Clear my head. I’ll be back soon.”
DEAN: “Okay. I’ll see you when you get back.”
SOPHIE: “Don’t wait up for me.”
DEAN: “Just come back in one piece okay?”
SOPHIE: “Ha-ha I’ll do my best.”
**Scene: Sophie is walking into a warehouse late at night. She draws a symbol on the floor, lights a candle and starts speaking in Latin. The wind starts blowing and a figure appears.**
LYLE: “How are things going?”
SOPHIE: “I’m out Lyle. I’m done. The Winchesters are more important to me than Castiel.”
LYLE: “I was afraid this was going to happen. Those boys just seem to have that affect on people.”
SOPHIE: “I’m sorry, but you need to leave them and me alone.”
*She turns to walk away.*
LYLE: “Not so fast.”
*Sophie is stopped in her tracks. Lyle then spins her around and smacks her. She lifts her head and glares at him.*
LYLE: “I’ve learned some new tricks since we last spoke. You’re not as all powerful as you led me to believe are you?”
*Sophie is silent.*
LYLE: “So you listen to me. Now things are on my terms. You either play along with what I want or I will kill you and the Winchesters.”
SOPHIE: “You son of a bitch I’ll…”
*Lyle punches her in the jaw and she falls to the floor hitting her head on the pavement and gets knocked out. Lyle bends over her.*
LYLE: “You’ll what? I can’t hear you Sophie you’ll have to speak up.”
**Scene: Dean is walking around the guest bedroom. Sam is sitting on the bed, typing on the laptop.**
DEAN: “Where the hell is she? She said she was going for a walk, 3 hours ago.”
SAM: “Dean I’m sure she’s fine. She’s not used to having someone worry about where she is so I’m sure she thinks nothing of coming in and out when she pleases. Sit down, just relax.”
DEAN: “No Sam, she knows how hunters are. We know when something is wrong. She would have called.”
*Dean’s phone rings. He looks at the number, relief spreads across his face, he answers it.*
DEAN: “Sophie where are you?”
SOPHIE: “(slurring his name) Dean?”
DEAN: “Sophie what’s going on? Are you okay?”
LYLE: “No Dean I’d say that our little Sophie is in quite a pickle.”
DEAN: “Who the hell is this?”
LYLE: “Oh you don’t know me, but I know you. And we have someone in common, dear little Sophia. There are some things about herself that she hasn’t told you. In fact she was working with me in a plot to kill your little angelic muse, Castiel.”
DEAN: “Where is Sophie?”
SAM: “Dean what’s going on?”
LYLE: “Oh she’s sitting here with me. Say hello, Sophie.”
SOPHIE: “(speaking slowly) Dean I’m sorry. He, he…”
DEAN: “Hey, hey Sophie, listen to me. It’s ok, Sam and I are gonna come get you.”
LYLE: “Very good Dean. You’ve been paying attention. In fact that is exactly what I want you to do. But there is someone special who I want you to bring with you.”
DEAN: “Castiel.”
LYLE: “Smart boy, I’ll make sure the teacher knows to give you a gold star.”
DEAN: “If you lay one finger on her head I will kill you myself. (getting louder) Now tell me where she is.”
LYLE: “Now, now Dean you should really try to relax. Yelling at me isn’t going to do much good for Sophie.”
*Sophie screams*
DEAN: “SOPHIE! Stop it you bastard!”
*Sophie is whimpering in the background*
LYLE: “Oh my Dean did that upset you? Well, I better just give you that address then. 374 Parsons Drive. Oh and Dean, make sure you bring Castiel with you. Coming alone would prove very bad for Sophie’s health.”
*Dean hangs up the phone.*
SAM: “Dean what is going on?”
DEAN: “A demon has Sophie.”
SAM: “Is she okay?”
DEAN: “I don’t know Sammy. I need to make a call first.”
SAM: “What are you talking about? We need to go get her.”
DEAN: “Don’t you think I know that? I’m calling Castiel for help.”
SAM: “Okay. Sorry.”
DEAN: “It’s okay Sammy. It’s just, she…”
SAM: “I know Dean.”
DEAN: “It’s me; I need you to meet me somewhere now. Sophie is in trouble…”
*mumbling on the other end of the phone.*
DEAN: “Okay. Bye.”
SAM: “Dean?”
DEAN: “Yeah I’m alright. We have to go.”
SAM: “She’s gonna be okay Dean, alright.”
*Dean is silent, they walk out the door. The impala’s engine roars to life and the car speeds off.*
*In the car.*
SAM: “So…”
DEAN: “Sophie got mixed up with demon who wants to kill Castiel.”
SAM: “She’ll be fine.”
DEAN: “She better be or this demon will pay hell for it.”
SAM: “Don’t worry he will.”
DEAN: “Well let’s go get our girl and teach this son-of-a-bitch a lesson.”
SAM: “You got it.”
**Scene: Inside the warehouse Sophie is tied to a chair. She’s pretty banged up it’s obvious that Lyle has beaten the crap out of her, knowing that it’s going to make Dean more reckless.**
SOPHIE: “It’s not going to wor…”
*Lyle punches her in the jaw. It takes her a minute to recover she spits blood onto the floor near Lyle’s feet.*
SOPHIE: “Go ahead you son of a bitch. *she smirks* Do your worst.”
LYLE: “Such a mask dear Sophia. You don’t care what happens to the Winchesters…not really.”
SOPHIE: “Actually I care more about them then my own life. I haven’t had anyone like them since my parents died.”
LYLE: “Well dear you might lose yours to save theirs. We’ll see how the night unfolds. Oh I feel like I should have popcorn.”
*Lyle kicks his leg out much fast than any human could and kicks Sophie in the leg. You hear a snap then she screams. It’s broken. She composes herself and bites her lip.*
SOPHIE: “*a little chuckle escapes her lips* Yeah start popping it you dick.”
*The door of the house bursts open. Sam and Dean burst in, shotguns cocked. Dean runs toward Sophie but stops in his tracks. Lyle has a knife held up to her throat.*
LYLE: “Easy now Dean, we don’t want anything to happen to this little one do we?”
DEAN: “Let her go, NOW!”
LYLE: “Watch it.”
*Lyle takes the knife and moves it down toward Sophie’s arm and cuts a sharp line across it. She screams. Dean flinches and Sam holds him back. Then all of a sudden a voice echoes through the empty house. Castiel starts to walk down the staircase.*
CASTIEL: “Lyle let the Sophie go. She has nothing to do with this; it’s me that you want if I’m not mistaken. Untie her and let Dean get her some medical attention.”
LYLE: “Yeah, right.”
*Lyle turns to Sophie again and takes the knife to the other arm; she lets out a yelp and then passes out in the chair. Lyle then smacks her awake, Dean steps forward.*
SOPHIE: “Don’t touch me.”
*Lyle grabs her chin and looks her hard in the eye.*
DEAN: “Lyle please let her go.”
SAM: “Dean…”
LYLE: “What do I look like to you? I’m a demon Dean. Begging and pleading is going to do nothing. I have no sympathy.”
*Lyle smirks. Dean tenses up, looks toward Sam and nods. Sam walks toward Lyle.*
SAM: “Ok my turn. I’m not going to ask you Lyle, I’m going to tell you. Let her go now or I’ll send your ass back to Hell.”
LYLE: “Oh really, Sam will you? I’ll take her with me if you even try it. If you think I’m bluffing, I assure you I’m not.”
*Sam turns back to Dean who is growing more anxious. Dean looks to Castiel who is standing directly behind Lyle. Lyle turns obviously shocked and he falls to the floor. Lyle starts to speak with strain in his voice.*
LYLE: “What…are…you…doing?”
CASTIEL: “Sam, I believe you could be of assistance now, I can restrain him, if you would be so kind as to send him back where he belongs.”
SAM: “My pleasure.”
*Sam looks to Dean and he nods. Then he puts out his hand and sends Lyle back to Hell. But this time it’s faster. As soon as he is done Dean and Sam run to Sophie.*
DEAN: “Soph? Sophie? Hey, hey it’s me.”
*Sophie cocks her head up slowly smiles at Dean, then passes out.*
DEAN: “Castiel is she?”
CASTIEL: “She’s going to be fine, but you need to get her to a hospital as quickly as possible. I’ll take care of Lyles…host.”
SAM: “I’ll start the engine.”
*Sam runs to the car while Dean unties her and picks her up into his arms. He walks out to the Impala and gets into the backseat with her. The car drives away.*
**Scene: Hospital room, mid-day, Dean is sitting on one side of the room with his head down. A small rustling and his head shoots up, he looks like he hasn’t slept in days. Sam walks into the room with some coffee, and looks over at Sophie. She’s sleeping, bandaged up with an IV in her arm and machines beeping all around her. She doesn’t look awful, but it’s not good.**
SAM: “Dean you need to get some sleep. You heard what the doctor said; she’s gonna be fine, she’s just resting. She took a hard beating but she’s tough.”
DEAN: “I know I just want to be here when she wakes up.”
SAM: “I’ve never seen you like this Dean.”
DEAN: “It’s weird Sammy, you and dad and Bobby are pretty much the only people I’ve ever wanted more than anything to protect. But there’s something about Sophie. I feel like we or, I need to keep an eye on her. Like in a way she’s I don’t know family…or something like it.”
SAM: “She’s pretty hard not to fall for. It’s like, in her sarcasm and humor you know she’s one of the strongest most genuine people you’ll ever meet. She dazzling.”
DEAN: *he smiles* “’dazzling?’ Sam that’s the gayest thing I’ve ever heard you say…but you’re right. Ha-ha.”
SOPHIE: “*her voice is weak but surprises both brothers* Dazzles huh?”
DEAN: “*you can hear the excitement in his voice.* Sophie.”
SOPHIE: “That’s my name, don’t wear it out.”
DEAN: “I wouldn’t dream of it. Ha-ha.”
SAM: “How ya feeling Sophie?”
SOPHIE: “I’ve been better. Ha-ha. No, I’m alright. I’m glad you guys are here.”
DEAN: “We aren’t going anywhere.”
*Sophie’s eyes dart to the floor.*
SOPHIE: “Hey Sam can I talk to Dean for a minute alone?”
SAM: “Yeah sure I’ll go call Bobby I’m sure he’s wondering what we’ve been up to.”
SOPHIE: “Thanks Sam.”
*Sam leaves the room and Dean looks at Sophie with confusion.*
DEAN: “What’s up?”
SOPHIE: “Dean I don’t want you to blame yourself for this and I don’t want you and Sam to think that you have to stay because this happened. I’ve had enough charity to last me a lifetime.”
DEAN: “Why would you say that? We are staying because we care about you.”
SOPHIE: “You guys should be out on the road, hunting. Demons aren’t just going to walk back into Hell themselves. *she offers up a smile, you can see that she wants them to stay but knows that they should go.* Really you guys should go.”
DEAN: “Not a chance. Sophie you are considered family now. Sam and I both feel that way.”
SOPHIE: “Thanks. But I’ll be fine.”
DEAN: “We aren’t leaving.”
*Sophie signs heavily.*
DEAN: “What hurts?”
SOPHIE: “There isn’t a part of me that doesn’t. Ha-ha.”
*she smiles at him but his face looks upset.*
SOPHIE: “Dean, this isn’t your fault. I’m the one who was stupid enough to get mixed up with a demon. If it weren’t for you and Sam I would be dead.
DEAN: “Don’t say that…”
SOPHIE: “It’s true though Dean. And could you please tell Castiel I’m sorry and tell him that I forgave him for what happened to my parents a long time ago? I know it wasn’t intentional.”
DEAN: “Sure. When I see him, I’ll pass along the message.”
SOPHIE: “Thank you.”
DEAN: “No problem.”
SOPHIE: “Wow so I’ve really made a mess of things.”
DEAN: “Well it’s all over now.”
SOPHIE: “For now…”
DEAN: “You know, you really don’t act like your 16. You’re very…different.”
SOPHIE: “I’d like to think so. Ha-ha.”
DEAN: “In a good way.”
SOPHIE: “Dean when was the last time you got some rest? You can’t protect my stupid ass if you’re tired. Sam can stay with me, or Castiel maybe?”
DEAN: “Sam will stay with you.”
SOPHIE: “Fine.”
**Scene: Dean walks outside of the hospital and gets into the impala. Castiel appears in front of the car and gets in.**
CASTIEL: “Dean.”
DEAN: “Castiel.”
CASTIEL: “I neglected to mention something earlier with Sophie.”
DEAN: “What?”
CASTIEL: “It’s just that you seemed very protective of her back at the house and I didn’t want to get in the way.”
DEAN: “What? Is this a game for you? Just tell me what it is.”
CASTIEL: “I can heal her.”
DEAN: “So you mean to tell me that you’ve made her sit through that pain for a whole day and didn’t think you should say something?”
CASTIEL: “Dean, please just let me heal her so she doesn’t have to be in pain much longer.”
DEAN: “Follow me, now.”
CASTIEL: “Of course.”
**Scene: Sam and Sophie are talking and laughing. Dean walks into the room, Sophie looks to him and then Castiel walks in behind him. She looks to Sam then to Dean.**
SOPHIE: “I thought I told you to get some rest. But I see you’ve brought an even more interesting guest. Hello Castiel.”
CASTIEL: “Sophie. how are you feeling?”
SOPHIE: “Um…I’ve been better. Ha-ha”
DEAN: “Castiel can fix that, seems my little angel can heal people but failed to mention that when Lyle beat the crap out of…”
SOPHIE: “Dean, stop.”
SAM: “The important thing is he’s here now. Sophie is going to get better.”
*Castiel walks toward Sophie and puts his hands over her torso.*
CASTIEL: “Okay I’m just going to need you to hold extremely still.”
SOPHIE: “Yes sir.”
*A bright light cascades over Sophie and then engulfs the room. When it ends Sophie looks amazing. No more bruises or cuts. Her broken leg and ribs are back to normal. Dean and Sam are smiling.*
SOPHIE: “What? Did he turn me into a freak?”
SAM: “No, Sophie you look great, completely back to normal.”
SOPHIE: “I feel great.”
*She goes to get up and Dean stops her.*
DEAN: “You need to relax. You may have been healed but you were still in a fight with a demon.”
SOPHIE: “I was more like a demons punching bag, but we need to get me out of here. Cause I’m thinking that ‘An angel came in and healed my broken body’ isn’t going to work on the nurses.”
SAM: “She’s right Dean, we need to get her out of here.”
CASTIEL: “Maybe I could help you out.”
*Before Dean can say anything Castiel snaps his fingers and they are all suddenly outside of the impala in the parking lot. Sophie is fully dressed in her clothes.*
DEAN: “Well isn’t that a neat little trick.”
SOPHIE: “I’ll say.”
CASTIEL: “I’d say my work here is done. I hate to leave so soon but Sophie it was a pleasure to meet you again, and once again…”
SOPHIE: “Castiel you don’t have to apologize I’ve had a long time to forgive you and it’s okay. What happened to my parents wasn’t your fault it was just wrong place wrong time.”
SAM: “Wait, I thought you said you hadn’t been to Earth is over 2,000 years.”
CASTIEL: “Yes well when you find out that someone down here can actually understand what your saying without you having to possess a person you want to see if it’s true. I let curiosity get the best of me and people died because of it. I’m much more careful now.”
DEAN: “Well you know what they said about the cat.”
SAM: “Dean…”
DEAN: “I wanna get Sophie home. Let’s go.”
CASTIEL: “That’s my cue. Goodbye Sophie. Dean, Sam I’ll be seeing you.”
SOPHIE: “Bye.”
*Sam, Dean and Sophie get into the impala and drive away.*
**Scene: Sam, Dean and Sophie sitting in a park by a lake. It’s empty besides the three of them. The sky is dark and it looks like a storm is rolling in. Thunder rumbles in the distance and Dean finally breaks the silence.**
DEAN: “Sophie we don’t want to just leave you here.”
SAM: “Is there any chance you would consider coming with us?”
SOPHIE: “Guys, I would do anything for you…”
*she looks to Dean and then Sam and smiles.*
SOPHIE: “Anything. But, I sold the house, and everything I don’t need, bought a car and I’m gonna hit the road. With Lilith and the whole apocalypse thing in the air being tied down right now is dangerous. But, if you boys ever need help on a case or you just miss me call me up.”
*she smiles.*
SAM: “That’s our point it’s dangerous out there Sophie.”
SOPHIE: “Danger kind of follows hunters, you two especially.”
DEAN: “True, but we could look out for you better if you’re close to us.”
SOPHIE: “Don’t worry about me; I’m always a phone call away if I need you.”
SAM: “Be careful okay.”
DEAN: “Call once in a while. Maybe we’ll team up on a case or something.”
SOPHIE: “I will. Well, see you around boys.”
*She hugs Sam and then Dean walks her to her car.*
DEAN: “If you need anything, or if you’re ever in trouble.”
SOPHIE: “I know. Dean, trust me I know. Thank you for everything.”
DEAN: “Thank you for what?”
SOPHIE: “For reminding me that there are still good people out there and I have two of them looking out for me…or well three if we’re counting Castiel.”
DEAN: “You’re welcome.”
*Sophie hugs Dean and waves to Sam.*
SOPHIE: “Bye Dean. I’ll be talking to you soon.”
DEAN: “Bye Soph. Be safe.”
SOPHIE: “You too.”
*Sophie gets into the car and drives away. Dean walks back to Sam.*
SAM: “Great girl.”
DEAN: “Yeah.”
*They both watch as her car turns the corner.*
