flamelily - June 29, 2008 08:57 PM (GMT)
OHMIGOD that was heartwrenching!!!
:cry :cry :cry :cry :melt :melt
EnglishLass - June 29, 2008 08:59 PM (GMT)
Oh my god, totally awesome episode. :cheer :hi5
It hit the ground running and never gave up right through to the end.
I don't think I can find fault in the episode, it took me through the range of emotions :o :D :( :cry
Thought the picture of the hell hounds was chilling, have to love the lengths that the crew goes to make the episode memorable.
Both Jared and Jensen were on top form, and you could see the pain in both of their faces.
Kudos to the young girl who played Lilith, totally scary and could go from the sweet innocent to the scariest thing in a second and sold it so well. :fire
Got to love Bobby standing up Dean and Sam telling them that family doesn't end with blood linking back to DALDOM and picking up the fact that Dean is playing wounded
Have to agree with Dean - Bon Jovi rocks on occasion, and this was a great brother brother moment.
Dean being able to see demon's was a twist, that I loved.
My heartbreaking moments :cry
1. Dean telling Sam that he is his weak spot.
2. Sam's face when Bobby says that Dean is playing wounded.
3. Dean realising that he may have to kill the young girl.
4. The mother begging Sam to kill her daughter.
5. Sam holding Dean at the end.
My classic lines
Bobby - What do you think that I'm a ditch able prom date
Dean - Remember what Dad taught you, remember what I taught you
Sam - I'm not going to let you go to hell..
Lilith - I don't have to answer to puppy chow. Sic 'em boys
There is one thing that Supernatural knows how to do well and that is season finales and this I think tops Season 1 and Season 2 finale.
markie - June 29, 2008 08:59 PM (GMT)
Well that got you right between the emotions..
Jodie - June 29, 2008 09:15 PM (GMT)
omg! i don't know what to say, talk about traumatic I can't believe how gruesome Dean's death was lol i'm kinda glad they showed it all it's glory but at the same time i really didn't wanna see Dean ripped apart :cry
It was so sad and scary and i agree 'EnglishLass' the little girl that played lilith was really creepy.
I'm so glad it wasn't a disappointment (not that that's happened yet!) J2 on amazing form and i loved Bobby "Family dosen't end with blood" he's so cool.
I loved it!
I love supernatural endings how they answer questions but still leave some unanswered so you don't feel let down but still need to know more, the perfect balance. ITV2+1 here I come!
but what do i do on sunday nights now? lol
Nephilims_child - June 29, 2008 09:31 PM (GMT)
Blows me away every time I see it. *sniffle* So can't wait for next season.
Ditchable prom date was the line that made me laugh.
That picture of the hellhounds in the book Dean falls asleep on is by a guy called Todd Lockwood, its awesome (I have it as my wallpaper - my mother is worried  )

As finales go I think season 2 is better (but I`m a Sam girl so I might be biased).
My initial thoughts are (although I love her) Ruby was a waste of space in this eppy. What was all this you can save Dean .......you don`t have time.........you can`t save Dean ............we needed time stuff all about? Why didn`t she just tell him what to do and see if he could have done it???
I`m sorry but it just seemed thrown together this ep. There was no explanations for anything apart from why Dean could see demons.
How did Dean know the little girl was Lileth? It`s not as if he knew she`d be a little girl! after all she did get inside Ruby`s body in the end.
What could Sam have done to save Dean? Ruby never really explained.
I do love this ep but like I say it just seemed like they threw it together to get it over with. I know it`s all to do with the writers strike and if they hadn`t have done Ghostfacers they could have stretched the story arc out a bit more and thrown in a few more explainers. Made it all fit together better.
wow I didn`t know I felt this strongly about it. sorry for the rant. now to the good points:
Bobby telling Dean in his own words that he is family. Gotta love Bobby.
Tensions rising and the boys getting all argumentative about the situation. :o
Bon Jovi rock. Yes, rub it in that I didn`t get to see them in the UK. :(
Loved the effects when Dean was being ripped apart by the hellhounds.
Finally, congrats to Jensen for his death scene. (he held his breath over and over so Jared could get his mood right) :clap and I cried buckets. :cry
Also Jared who did cry buckets and made it look so real.
For the third and final time JARED`S HAIR!!!!!!!!! It has been getting straighter in the last 3 eps and I think it looks bloody gorgeous.
flamelily - June 29, 2008 09:51 PM (GMT)
I too am over on ITV2 +1 - love the bit where Dean sees what Ruby really looks like - cracked me up. Not so much when he saw the demon in Sam (keep fighting it Sammy!!!)
Both guys were excellent and Bobby was so great. Dean was looking especially hot in this episode don't you think :fire
EnglishLass - June 29, 2008 09:56 PM (GMT)
I selected this season over season 2 as I felt that there was more of a cliff hanger in the same vain as season 1 whereas season 2 was wrapped up in the second episode of the finale. I am cliff hanger kind of gal..
If they had left it at the end of AHBL1 and come back with season 3 with AHBL2 I would totally agree.
I assumed that as the eyes show the ranking of the demons to the normal, that something in Dean's demon spotting vision would pick up the fact that Lilith was in the young girl.
My reading of the point when she was saying there was no time left anymore, was that she wasn't Ruby anymore and didn't want to give away that she was now Lilith and was covering by saying that there wasn't enough time.
Have to agree with you on Jared's hair. I wonder if he had it cut for Friday 13th or if he just had it cut over the writer's strike.
markie - June 29, 2008 09:56 PM (GMT)
Terrifically acted episode . Sam simply gorgeous .Dean,s death cant look coward me :D

So you`re saying Sam`s death was not a cliffhanger but Dean`s is?
The hair....the hair....the hair! :thud :thud :thud I`m glad we agree on something.
crazyisgood - June 29, 2008 10:34 PM (GMT)
Man that episode was so sad what an evil ciffy, with Season 2 we knew there was one more episode to go so a chance of Sam coming back soon, this is just cruel, reminds me of the wait between season 1 and 2 with them in the car.
This has to be the only TV show that has made me cry.
Woop they didn't cut anything out, that did kind of have me worried as that was far more gruesome than last weeks.
Those boys are such great actors, especially when their voices cracked as they were doing emotionally sad scenes, putting so much in to the characters.
Bet they were glad they had Bobby watching their backs from across the street, clever good ol' Bobby, the only person to have survived 3 whole seasons, even if he was only in one episode in season 1.
I'm so desperate to see season 4, or at least get my season 3 DVDs.
EnglishLass - June 29, 2008 10:35 PM (GMT)
I am a total Bi-Winchester girl, I wouldn't put one brother ahead of another.
So, no that's not what I am saying at all, I don't think Sam's death is any less than Dean's death. They both had me in tears and pulled my heart to bits.
AHBL1 had me on the edge of my seat, if the series had ended at the end of that episode then I would be saying that Season 2 and Season 3 were tied for best season ends.
We knew at the end of AHBL2 that Sam was alive going into season 3. At the end of NRFTW Dean is in Hell, and were not sure how Sam is going to get him back.
likethewolf - June 29, 2008 11:23 PM (GMT)
I'm a Dean girl and so I both loved and hated this! Nah, it was an excellent episode! My dad actually phoned me after and ordered me to tell him what was going to happen next season, getting really angry when I said I didn't know! My dads just a casual viewer so his reaction says a lot!
I've said it before and I'll sa it again...Kripke is a God!
Roll on season four!
Missy_Bee - June 29, 2008 11:30 PM (GMT)
:cry DEAN!!
That was intense and I loved it! I cried too, although weirdly I cried more at the look on Dean's face when he stopped singing Bon Jovi (best. moment. ever.) than the end, I was a little bit spoiled before I saw this (accidently) so I kinda knew.
It was great that it was action all the way through. That little girl who played Lillith was awesome, I loved how she went from menacing to a cute little girl in seconds.
I think i need to watch this ep again though, it definitly merits a second watch.
ETA: I'm a Dean/Jensen gal but I totally agree, Jared's hair looked lovely

No problem, Empala67.
JarAck27 - June 30, 2008 10:10 AM (GMT)
DEAN!!!! :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry
That was soooooooooooo sad :( It was bad enough getting shown how he dies and then having Sam (great acting by Jared) crying and holding Dean. But what really got me was the final clip, that is such a mean cliffhanger! Jensen's acting blew me away (again) :clap
The special effects were fantastic too, as was the writing ("Wanted Dead or Alive" scene was brilliant and Dean's face was heartbreaking, also Bobby)
irismay42 - June 30, 2008 05:21 PM (GMT)
I'm probably imagining things, but I'm sure you could see a lot more gore during Dean's death scene that I saw in the US version... Maybe it just wasn't as dark!!!
x...H.I.M...X - June 30, 2008 05:30 PM (GMT)
:cry Damn hell hounds <_<
By the way did anyone notice what Deans last word was... His Fav 'Bitch' :lmao
*Sigh* What can i say like all other episodes it was amazing and other than that this one was totally heart wrenching *sobs*
Roll on Season 4 Babey!!! :skip

It was so sad
Poor Dean :(
Claire39 - June 30, 2008 06:13 PM (GMT)
How does Jensen manage to pull off the incredible feat of being able to blow us away even more every time we see him? (This coming from a Jared girl!)
His face at the end of the Bon Jovi scene - and the way he looked and sounded when he was telling Sam that he was his weak spot -gah!! That was the scene that I went all teary eyed at - that and the little speech as the clock struck 12! Although I was a little bit more gobsmacked with Jareds performance there - the way he filled up as Dean said "Look after my wheels..." - but then Jensen tore my heart out and stamped on it when he gave Sam those sad smiles that just said it all!!!
God these guys just blow every other programme out of the water! When oh when will they get the recognition they deserve!!! (Although I was chuffed to hear the announcer say "Last in the series of the BRILLIANT Supernatural!!)
Awesome, awesome, awesome!! Roll on S4!!!!
I feel I need to give us UK fans a :hug to help us to get over the long wait!!!

Can't believe I am asking this already, anyone have any clue as to when S4 will start (2009......but the suspense). ITV2 email barrage here I come :supes
Butterflywings - June 30, 2008 08:13 PM (GMT)
It was a fantastic episode and so so sad.
The Bon Jovi song, at the end, was heartbreaking (as someone has already said); Dean's face !!
I also welled up at the end where Dean told Sam to "keep on fighting and look after my wheels, remember what dad taught you and what I taught you" - words to that effect anyway.
The ending was wonderful.
What more can I say? Jared and Jensen did an amazing job in this episode (as always) and I for one cannot wait until S4.
sunnyjunedays - June 30, 2008 09:08 PM (GMT)
It's been 24 hours since i watched the finale and i still feel in a state of shock. How does a tv show do that to me.
I loved this episode, it had so much. The opening recap with Carry On Wayward Son was fantastic. The first sequence with Dean being chased by hell hounds was terrifying, thank goodness it was a dream, Sam's face contorting to terribly was horrifying, Dean's fight with Ruby was amazing especially when he showed her he'd managed to get her knife and that she was trapped in a devil's trap. Bobby telling Dean that "Family don't end with blood boy", was great, i love Bobby even more now, the little girl possessed by Lillith was ultra chilling as were the neighbours protecting her, the Bon Jovi singing in the Impala was a masterpiece, i will never listen to that song again without picturing that scene in my head. Then came the final scenes, Ruby not Ruby, Dean pinned to the table, Dean torn to shreds by the hell hounds, Lillith escaping just as Sam was going to use the knife on her and Sam's tears, OMG, that was so hard to watch as was Dean, shouting for Sam in the final shot. What a finale. Jared and Jensen were perfect.
Kripke and Co did a fabulous job and gave us a finale that wrenched every single emotion out of me and left me wanting season 4 NOW.
Somebody please tell me that i don't have to wait until January or February 09 for the start of season 4 because i don't think i can do it. :cry
hobbleit - July 1, 2008 07:01 AM (GMT)
lol, I started crying when they played carry on my wayward son and just continued from there
Missy_Bee - July 1, 2008 11:31 AM (GMT)
If I was in charge of ITV2, I would start with Supernatural re-runs while we wait for the 4th season, every episode or maybe 2 every week would carry us through to January next year after all there are 60 episodes.
It won't happen, I know, but it would be nice anyway. :)
cheekymadam - July 1, 2008 01:03 PM (GMT)
Poor Dean :cry :cry Awesome Episode wonderful wonderful wonderful
ENCORE ENCORE ENCORE *throws flowers in the air*
:clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap
:bow :bow :bow :bow :bow :bow :bow :bow
I dont think i cried so much since my little cousin was born
sibyllia - July 6, 2008 03:43 PM (GMT)
It's been a week and I'm still recovering from the shock. I sat through the whole episode with my mouth gaping open like a guppy fish.
Poor Dean. Oh my. That very last scene with him in hell... :cry :cry
Superb acting from Jensen and Jared.
I was talking about this with my best friend: Sammy's powers. They did come forward didn't they? I didn't mistake that?
And the scene that made me laugh so much and then cry the hardest - the Bon Jovi scene. When Dean was signing, got Sam to sing, and then Dean stopped and had this extremely wistful look :cry
