Title: Resources Exchange
Description: Share tutorials, fonts, brushes...
sweetie0704 - June 24, 2007 07:51 AM (GMT)
Just a note. I merged the tutorial list and the resource thread together. Feel free to post any fonts, brushes, textures, and anything else that you've found helpful. :) There is now a tutorials forum, so anything about tutorials can go there. ~grkgrl88I hope this is okay for me to post here. If not, mods, feel free to delete :D
I was just looking through some of my tutorial stuff on lj and I found a list that has tutorials for programs other than photoshop, like GIMP and PSP. So I thought I would post the link for those of you who would like it. So
here it is. Have fun!
There are also links at the bottom of the entry for Photoshop tutorials and other great tutorials as well
Gaussian - June 24, 2007 03:48 PM (GMT)
I'm so confused. I thought a tutorial was a lesson on how to use something. Like how to use Photoshop to make icons. I'm wrong in this instance, right??
Senator Seth of the UGS - June 24, 2007 03:57 PM (GMT)
No that's what that site is about. It's for tuts on how to make the stuff that they are showing you.
Very nice site Sweetie, thanks a lot for sharing! :D
Gaussian - June 24, 2007 04:09 PM (GMT)
Ooh....I get it. You click on the icon for the tut.
So cool .....now I just need to get one those programs they're using. Details....details.
grkgrl88 - June 24, 2007 06:09 PM (GMT)
I pinned this topic so we don't lose it. Thank you for posting, sweetie. :)
Edited to add: Here's
another list, but it's not sorted by program.
sweetie0704 - June 24, 2007 07:07 PM (GMT)
You're welcome, guys :D I'm glad this could be of use. I love tutorials, so I'm always on the lookout. I have so many in my memories on lj  I'll see if I can add some more lists like that later this week.
grkgrl88, that's a great list! Thanks for the link :hug

Here's a list for Photoshop tutorials.
TammiTam - July 2, 2007 09:30 PM (GMT)
Ok, after an idea of mine and some agreement from others, I was thinking we should do a font exchange. Honestly, because they have to be linked from a webspace to be downloadable (as I'm sure not everyone wants to give out their email addresses) I can use mine. It's quick, easy, and I don't mind.
All I need is some people interested in giving (and receiving) fonts that aren't common (as much as I like it, please, no more versions of arial, my puter already has every one known to man!)
And, I guess, since this is an exchange we can ask for requests too. Plus brushes, textures, anything else we want to share. All we need is people that are interesting in passing on their fonts!
g_alena - July 2, 2007 11:11 PM (GMT)
i'll start just by giving out some links which help me and on the first one there is also a great tutorial on how to and where to save them on your computer. because i think not everyone probably knows that (i know i didn't two months ago  )
here you have hundreds of fonts...
http://www.dafont.com/and here a cool site too and there are also great brushes and textures

oh yeah grudge brushes are awesome...they're my best friends hehe :) and yeah Keren-R does do fantastic grudge brushes
here's a couple of brushes I love for GIMP:
Flame BrushesMotion BrushesNightsky Brushes (this one adds a little star touch to make the banners more romantic haha)
Dirty BrushesGrudge Masking Brushesother than that
deviantart.com is your number one spot for textures (I've gotten a lot from there), brushes, and tutorials. For brushes type in the program you got then put brushes after it like for me I put "GIMP brushes" in the search bar....
you'll also find a lot of things in
livejournal.com just search what you want under interests
TammiTam - July 3, 2007 08:26 PM (GMT)

Great idea for a thread!

sweetie0704 - July 4, 2007 01:55 AM (GMT)
Wow! Look what's happened to the little thread! Great idea,
Tammi! :hi5
grkgrl88, did you want to combine my
tutorial thread in here too? That way we can exchange tutorials.
I can't wait to dive into the awesome things posted when I get back! I will also try and come up with all of the stuff I've gone crazy downloading, too.
Is is sad that I'm really excited over things like this?

Thanks girl! I've always wanted to do things like this, cause honestly, what better way to get better than to get the help of people doing what you are?
Did that make sense?

I am too! I'll see a texture someone uses, or a technique, and I wonder ... can I do that too? So I think it's awesome that we can all help each other!
Edit: Vany ... that texture is AWESOME!!

later when I have time :P I'll write a little tutorial on how to do the glowing text in my second banner...people have asked me how and it's simple and it applies to every program out there so watch out for it!
grkgrl88 - July 5, 2007 10:47 PM (GMT)
Mina made a huge
thread about a year ago with links to fonts, textures, brushes, and a lot of other stuff. It was in the Rules and Requests forum, but I thought it'd be better over here. It's pinned and green. :)

grkgrl88 - July 27, 2007 04:12 PM (GMT)
A couple things...
I made a sub-forum for Tutorials, so any info on tutorials can go
over there.
SNnat17 posted a glowing text tutorial in this thread, but it's been moved to the new forum
here.

Some things I found on Delicious today...
Seamless patterns from Web Design Ledger
Texture Lovers50 Handwritten Fonts (I've seen some of these before, but lots of cool fonts.)
grkgrl88 - June 15, 2009 05:23 AM (GMT)
A few grunge textures on
FlickrBlendfu - patterns and brushes for Photoshop and GIMP
Article on Smashing Magazine about tweaks to make GIMP more like Photoshop
Knoxdiver - July 9, 2009 05:29 AM (GMT)
Honestly, I'm still new to GIMP and new to brushes so I just made my first foray into deviantART for them. I came across this really awesome tutorial on how to make your own GIMP brushes (for those of you out there who are creative enough to do such things):
Make a GIMP brush.
For cool backgrounds and unusual textures with cool coloring, I suggest
Digital Blasphemy. Although you have to pay to get larger versions, you can get several HQ backgrounds from the free gallery, and there are plenty of thumbnail versions that still look good when resized.
