Title: S2 E9: Croatoan

dean_an_sam_rock - March 12, 2007 11:04 AM (GMT)
This area is to discuss CROATOAN.

At no stage do i want next weeks promo discussed. It did contain a spoiler, and i'd prefer that discussion is kept off the board. Theories are ok, although most theories would be blown since channel 10 revealed the big punch line.

So, to make it clear:

NO DISCUSSING THE PROMO.

Savvy?

Good. Any discussion will be removed without notice.

*breathes*

oh man..i wonder why sam's immune? i cant believe dean really shot those people...i know they were mad...but thats crazy!!!

and that dude at the end...he did exactly what meg did....this is getting GOOD.

Share your thoughts!

Cait_ - March 12, 2007 11:26 AM (GMT)
Wooooow.
Okay.
That episode was really... exceptionally great.

I loved how we're finding out so much more stuff about everyone.

*is excited*

I laughed at the part when Dean is driving out of town to get help and he sees the car with windows smashed and blood everywhere, and it shows the number plate with the letters WTF

haha.. yeah.. or is it just me that's weird?

dean_an_sam_rock - March 12, 2007 11:30 AM (GMT)

Aly - March 12, 2007 11:31 AM (GMT)

supernatch - March 12, 2007 09:50 PM (GMT)
I really like this epi, it had a real Dawn of the Dead feel to it. Brilliant pieces of dead-pan comedy writing:

When Dean says to the Sarg, "You have a neighbour named Mr Rodgers?" and the reply "Not anymore"!! Loved that.

When Sarg keeps the gun pointed at Dean from the front seat of the Impala, and Dean keeps his on the Sarg and says "This should be a relaxing drive" and takes off very precariously.

When Duane Tanner asks where his parents are and Dean mutters under his breath to Sammy "Awkward"

When Dean stays with Sam and jokes about a Fooz Ball table.

Loved both boys in this epi. Really pushes the point home that Dean really does have only Sam to live for now. And, once again, I felt that Sammy's little puppy dog eyes (when he was lying on the floor and Dean wouldn't help him up) took my heart from Dean, but only for an instant I swear!!! :drool1

aussiemel - March 13, 2007 01:30 AM (GMT)
Supernatch, you said all the parts I was going to say. lol

I really liked this ep. Although Dean shooting the mum as she was cowering in the corner was a bit hard to swallow. Yeah she was infected, but still. Bloody hell that was cold.

I loved the bit when Dean was trying to get to the next town and came across the roadblock and the guy tells him to get out of the car and Dean says 'well you are an attractive man but sorry I don't swing that way'.

Loved the bit at the end with just the two guys, Sammy with tears pouring down his face and Dean admitting he was tired of the life. I would have liked for that to go on a bit longer it was so emotional.

supernatch - March 13, 2007 03:29 AM (GMT)
Totally agree aussiemel. Dean shooting those people was cold. Not coz he did it, because we know he had to, but the way that he did it was what freaked me out. I want to know what he meant when Sam was talking about a clean Conscience and Dean quickly replied "It's too late for that". Bit of insight into the inner workings of Dean Winchester!! Doesn't happen very often.

Aly - March 13, 2007 07:55 AM (GMT)
I love the bit where he said

SAM
Dean, I'm sick. It's over for me. It doesn't have to be for you.

DEAN
No?

SAM
No, you can keep going.

DEAN
Who says I want to?

SAM
What?

DEAN crosses to the other wall and pulls a handgun out of his waistband before sitting on the file cabinet.

DEAN
I'm tired, Sam. I'm tired of this job, this life . . . this weight on my shoulders, man. I'm tired of it.

SAM
So what, so you're just going to give up? You're just gonna lay down and die? Look, Dean, I know this stuff with Dad has —

DEAN
You're wrong. It's not about Dad. I mean, part of it is, sure, but . . .

SAM
What is it about?

OMG FAVE BIT!!!! and the end

angel_music - March 13, 2007 08:02 AM (GMT)
I liked last nights ep, mainly because it was different to the previous eps shown this season. I thought both Jared and Jensen really steped up in tonights ep. Don't get me wrong, they always act really well, last nights was just very well done.

Can someone explain, the Mr.Rodgers thing? Because i don't get why it would be weird to have a neighbour called mr Rodgers.

Stupid Channel ten

Cait_ - March 13, 2007 10:01 AM (GMT)
Aly.
I loved that part aswell. It was so amazing and the way they acted it aswell.
:clap

Oh, and I also don't understand the Mr. Rogers thing. What movie/TV show are they refering to?

ms.supernatural - March 13, 2007 10:52 AM (GMT)
Would it be the Mr. Rogers in "Leave It To Beaver"?
... like in the original 1961 version?

JammasterJ - March 14, 2007 01:46 AM (GMT)
Yeah I am pretty sure they were refering to THAT Mr Rogers from Leave it to Beaver. We didn't really get it here in Australia but it was one of those Brady Bunch style shows and I think Mr Rogers was supposed to be the ulitmate good neighbour, sorta like Ned Flanders in the Simpsons. I don't know I could be wrong as I have never watched the show but just picked up bits of info from other yankee shows.

I loved this episode, one of my favourites so far! Jensen did such an amazing job this week. Fave bit was when Dean gave the keys to the impala to the sarg and told them all to leave letting them know he was staying. The look he gave to the sarg before he closed the door was an unbelievable piece of acting! With just that one look he was able to convey everything - that there was no way he was going as without Sam there is nothing for him.

I also liked all the "awkward" bit.

WHile I loved the earie tone of the whole episode I did find the ending highly confusing. It seemed like it just ended ubruptly. Why the hell was Sammy immune?? Was the whole thing just an exercise by the demon to see if Sam was immune? Seems like a whole lot of effort to go to and very elaborate to just test Sam when there were easier options. I mean how could the demon be sure that Sam would be there?? Jesus this show is getting better and better!!

supernatch - March 14, 2007 02:35 AM (GMT)
In regards to the Mr Rodgers thing, I looked it up on the net. Here is the explanation: Referencing the TV series Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, which aired primarily on PBS and was aimed at children. The sweater-wearing Fred Rogers hosted the show and made the phrase "Won't you be my neighbor?" famous.

:jest

JammasterJ - March 14, 2007 03:03 AM (GMT)
I remember Eddie Murphy used to do a skit as Mr Rogers and sing "Won't you be my neighbour" 15 years later I finally get it! ;)

angel_music - March 14, 2007 06:19 AM (GMT)
thank-you for explaining the mr rodger thing

JammasterJ - March 14, 2007 07:53 AM (GMT)
I was just thinking, if the whole exercise was a test by the demon to see if Sam was immune then there are some big questions. The only way the demon could have known the boys would be there would be if he knew that Sam would have a vision to lead them there. Do you think this means that the demon does actually control or have some influence over Sams visions? Maybe this means that the demon has given the children their abilities??

I find the whole thing a bit elaborate just to test Sam, surely there are other easier ways to see if Sam would be infected by the virus without the need to go to the trouble of infecting and then wiping out a whole town.

Cait_ - March 14, 2007 10:43 AM (GMT)
^ Well said.
I think that demon does have control over him, but therefor wouldn't he already know if he was immune or not?
And all those tests wouldn't have to be taken.

I swear, this show mess's with your minds.

JammasterJ - March 15, 2007 12:40 AM (GMT)
I know. Instead of it getting clearer, with each episode my understanding of whats going on gets murkier and murkier. Bloody Kripke, he's an evil genius. I wonder if the test was just for Sam or for all the other children as well. It would have been alot easier to test this theory on one of the other people with abilities than someone like Sam who has spent his whole life hunting things like this and would have much more of a chance to ruin the demons plans. So is Sam different in some way than the others, or is the demon just messing with Sams mind?

God! The episodes need to come faster!!!!!!!!

Oohh Nice I like the way u think!

And also that test might mean they are going to use that virus later down the track, its like there is War being planned in Demon world! What are the demons gunna do with the virus? Why now? They is Sammy immune? And if Sammy is immune does that mean the other special childern are immue or is Sammy EXTRA special?

And also with what JammasterJ said

I definately agree but also that Sammy seems to be fighting and rebelling against the Demon whereas the rest like Weber (evil twin in Simon Said) didnt revolt but excepted the demon.

But I have always wondered y the demon has killed of the mother of the infants and not the fathers? What would taking away the mother do to the childern. Yeh they would all live better lives but Webers Mum wasnt taken away, y is he soo special?

ARGGHH!!!! KRIPKE U EVIL GENIUS!!

tristanrose101 - March 21, 2007 09:44 AM (GMT)
Loved it when Sammy ticked Dean off for not paying attention in History lessons. Dean also couldn't get the pronounciation right BOTH times (just like in in Provenance) . Dean was desperate in his actions- he was trying to contain the virus the best he could-desperate times calls for desperate measures-Winchester style. But when it STILL got to Sammy-that was the last straw...He felt like a failure . In "Hunted" he was recalling to Gordon how he made his first kill at 16 with his dad, while Sam sat in the car. Dean's a hunter of all things evil (or perceived to be evil) therefore it's torture (curse?) to think that his little bro. needs to be eliminated like one too. :( :( :( Heavy stuff.

JammasterJ - March 22, 2007 12:56 AM (GMT)
Yeah, i think this was one of the heaviest episodes so far. We got to see both of them fall apart and the cracks that were begining to show in previous episodes became gaping chasms. This was such a good episode. I was a little worried at the start of the season as I didn't think the episodes were up to the standard of the first season but they have just been going from strength to strength lately, I am so impressed.

I wonder how long it will take for Sam to break?? And what sort of Dad leaves his youngest son in the car unprotected while he goes on a hunt??

ams - March 24, 2007 04:55 AM (GMT)
