Title: A Brother's Love
Description: Dean is dead, can Sam's bring him back?
Deanwinchesterfan1985 - February 21, 2007 11:56 PM (GMT)
Hey everyone I'm here again. Sorry that it took me so long to get this started. I know that no one is happy with where I left The Gift. In fact I surprised I'm still alive. LOL. In all seriousness this was not my fault. I came home from work totally ready to get started on this next fan fic but Comcast was here setting up our new internet service. So I had to wait to use the computer. Now they are done and I'm online. Horray! I just want to thank everyone so much for all the support and comments that they have given on all my last fan fics and I hope you enjoy this one!
A Brother’s Love
The friends and family had soon departed after Dean’s funeral, leaving Sam alone. The only person that remained was Bobby. He watched Sam tensely for the first few hours after they had returned to the motel from the graveyard. Sam feeling slightly hollow but filled with determination. He would get his brother back, but he would have to wait until after Bobby went home. If anyone knew what he was planning, what he was going to do. They would try to stop him. Sam couldn’t have that. No one must stop him.
“Sam are you ok?” Bobby asked tentatively watching as Sam flipped idly through the TV stations but not watching anything.
“I’m fine Bobby.” Sam said flatly not really wanting to go into details on what he was really thinking about. He knew that Bobby wouldn’t approve. Hell no one would approve.
“I’m going to stay here tonight and head out first thing in the morning.” Bobby said giving Sam a sad glance. He looked at the empty bed, the one closest to the door. Dean’s bed. He glanced at Sam but walked out to the truck to get a sleeping bag and extra pillow he kept stashed in there at all times. It felt wrong to be taking Dean’s bed. He couldn’t do it.
Sam hadn’t moved when Bobby returned to make himself as comfortable as possible on the floor. Sam didn’t even seem to acknowledge that Bobby even existed let alone was in the same room with him and at the moment was setting up camp on the floor.
Sam just continued to stare at the TV blinking every so often as a bright flash of color danced in the otherwise dark room. Bobby settled himself down and soon was snoring softly.
Only then did Sam move he turned to look at the sleeping figure on the floor before pulling his laptop from the bag next to his bed. The still recent scars on his abdomen pulled and he hissed slightly before settling himself against the headboard and flipping the computer on. The bright screen illuminated the Sam’s face and the white wall behind him.
Sam’s fingers clicked furiously as he searched the Internet for possible solutions to his current problem. He had to get Dean back; he had to bring his brother to life again. At any cost. Sam was willing to do anything just to hear one smart-ass remark come out of his brother’s smart-ass mouth. Hell he just wanted to see his brother one last time alive and well.
He didn’t care if the two never saw each other after Dean came back, just as long as he knew that Dean was no longer six feet under the dirt in some crappy coffin. Sam’s search produced him with several possible solutions all of them ending in the same way. Dean would come back a monster, just like in Stephen King’s Pet Cemetery. Sam didn’t want that. He wanted his brother just the way he had been.
Bobby groaned and turned on the floor making Sam stop to look at him for a moment. Bobby’s soft snoring once again filled the room and Sam let out a breath of relief. He continued his soft key pounding in the darkness.
Coming up with solution after solution Sam saved each and every page to his favorites. Taking mental notes, reading until he felt like his eyeballs might pop out of their sockets. His fingers ached, his wrists were sore and his back was strained. His head pounded for the relief that sleep would bring it and his abdomen throbbed for the painkillers he had been prescribed to take.
As the sun poked over the mountaintops, bringing with it a new dawn and a bright new day Sam finally decided to rest. Bobby would probably head out first thing this morning. Leaving Sam alone to try out some of these new solutions. He was determined and once he had his brother back. The two of them would disappear. Forever.

wow! sorry, that sounds a little unappreciative, but i'm actually just so amazed by how great this story is already that that's all i can describe it as being, it's just wow-worthy! I guess when i said i'd be right over here after posting my reply to the gift that i took a few dtours and got lost in some haunted forest. unfortunately, you killed off dean and sam was too distressed to help me so i had to fight off all the ghosts by myself to get here! maybe next time i get lost somewhere like that they'll come to my rescue!
anyway, great start! poor sammy! and i hope that dean comes back all safe and sound even though i'm sure that you have some super-evil plan cooked up that'll make him a monster. :stir :D
jennmbc - February 22, 2007 12:12 AM (GMT)
Well I finally stopped crying (and read another story which made me cry again LOL).
All better now!!!
Can't wait to see where you take this. Now you know the drill...

xgetawayxcar09 - February 22, 2007 12:49 AM (GMT)
*is still crying*

he already died, that's enough.
i cried so hard when poor little Gage in the book came back to life AND KILLED PEOPLE
OOOHHHH WHY IS THE WORLD SO CRUEEELLLL
okay i better stop. i'm getting wound up again.
but yeahhh. this still is an amazing story.
really it is! once i get past the part of dean dying and the emotional torrents of grief and horrid feelings, then i'm amazed at your writing abilities.
i certainly wouldnt be able to kill dean off.
i would be crying too much and probably short circuit the comp. LOL
cause i'm a huge dean fan...and *starts crying again*
okay really i'm stopping now
*runs away in tears, towel now sopping wet*
WHERE'S MORE TOWELS????
JennieC - February 22, 2007 12:54 AM (GMT)
Wonderful beginning! Reading the first paragraph, hell, the first sentence, made my belly twist in angst. I am looking forward to this story, so please:
Write more soon!!
ps, thank you for giving me Bobby, too!
deathsingsasong - February 22, 2007 01:15 AM (GMT)
Sam, he's a pretty smart kid, you know?
Always got good grades,
is intelligent regarding morals and humanity,
all that sort of stuff...
So...what in the HELL makes him think that bringing Dean BACK to life would be anywhere NEAR a good idea???
Sammy, I'm disappointed.
BUT DON'T GET ME WRONG, I'm not saying that I don't want Dean back...
It's just, I want DEAN back, not a shell of Dean that will go Pet Semetary on everyone's ass.
You know what I mean?
To the update...
This story has already become fantastic, not that I expected anything less.
I mean, I've read all FIVE in the series and bore the emotional trauma and years of therapy that comes with it.
So, Since I think that I have been rambling on for WAY!! too long, I'll just leave off with a summary.
EvilSoulessDean = sad
Update = AWESOME!!!
Deanwinchesterfan1985 - February 22, 2007 01:36 AM (GMT)
Hey everyone I decided to add another chapter really quick and I will get started on chapter three. I might get it posted I'm not sure. I will see how it goes. I'm glad that everyone is enjoying it so far. I've had a lot of complaints about Dean coming back a zombie and acting like the characters from Stephen King's Pet Cemetery. I have to tell you that things are not always as they appear. Please just give me a chance to write to that part of the fan fic and I promise you will understand! I know in the summary of the The Gift for this it was saying Dean would come back that way, I've been doing some thinking about how Dean is going to come back. No he isn't going to be the same (Sorry to spoil it a little bit for everyone) but he is going to be more than the shell of who he used to be. You will understand when I get there I promise. I still have a little ways to go before I get there though. So just relax and enjoy the ride until then. I promise if you stick with it, you will be surprised and probably like it. I like it already and I haven't even gotten there yet. LOL. Thanks so much for all the wonderful comments and support so far! I really appreciate it.
Storm_Lover13--Well Dean isn't going to be a monster so to speak. He will be different but that is all I'm going to tell you. Bringing a guy back from the dead can change them. I'm glad that you enjoyed this first chapter, and I understand about getting lost. Thanks for the comment!
Jenn--Yep I know the drill. Did I update soon enough for you? I'm sorry that you were crying and then cried again after you read that other fan fic. But if it makes you feel any better Dean is coming back and won't be all Pet Cemetery on everyone. Is that a good thing? Thanks for the comment!
Bethany--That is a good idea to have constant supervision. You have a tendency to die a lot which can't be a good thing. I'm glad you didn't go to the light because Dean isn't there. Well he won't be very much longer anyway. So you would be stuck in the light without some hot guy to comfort you! So it is a good thing you stayed away! I'm proud of you. Thanks for the comment!
Shannon--Like I said it isn't going to be like Pet Cemetery so I'm glad you're going to stick it out. Dean won't be dead for too long I promise. Yes he will be different but he won't be going after Sam and trying to kill him or anything. He will still be the same lovable Dean that we all know. He will just have something that he goes out to take care of at night. I promise you will like it. Thanks for sticking with me. I'm a huge Dean fan as well love the big brother thing going on. It makes him so freaking hot! So ask me honestly do you really think I could be that cruel? I'm a bitch I admit but not the biggest bitch in the world. I've got big towels if you still need them. Let me know ;) Thanks for the comment!
JennieC--Awesome a new reader. I love hearing from new readers always a good thing! I appreciate every single comment I get so thank you! I'm glad that you like this fan fic so far even though I'm only on chapter two now. LOL. You are welcome for Bobby. Thanks again for the comment!
Cait--Sam is really smart that is why he is doing a deep search into this. Making sure that he has all the kinks worked out before he actually tries something. I'm glad that you are enjoying this fic so far and like I said Dean will NOT and I repeat NOT be a shell of who he was. He will be the same lovable Dean that we all care about so much. I love Dean way too much to turn him into one of those zombies from Pet Cemetery. You will understand later on in this fan fic. Thanks for sticking with me I really appreciate all the support. Thanks for the comment!
Now without further delays on with the show! Enjoy!
Bobby woke around nine and glanced over at the bed where Sam was still snoring softly. He stood slowly and stretched letting the stiff muscles in his back extend fully. The floor was not the most comfortable place in the world to sleep but he had had worse.
He walked over to Sam’s bed quietly, not wanting to wake the poor kid. Sam had literally been pushed into hell by his brother’s death and was desperately trying to claw his way back. He hadn’t slept very well since this had happened. Bobby knew because he was the one there comforting Sam when he woke up screaming for Dean.
Dean had left a huge hole in Sam, one that could probably never be fixed. Bobby brushed some of Sam’s hair away from his forehead and looked at the pale young man. The dark circles under Sam’s eyes spoke of how tired he really was.
Bobby scribbled a quick good bye to Sam and left it on top of the TV before gathering the few belongings he had brought in and walked out of the motel as quietly as possible. He would make sure to check in on Sam more often, he knew John never would.
John had been hurt horribly by Dean’s death, although he would never admit as much to Sam. He had taken off right after the funeral services without even saying good-bye. He hadn’t spoken to Sam the whole time he had been there. Bobby was sure that hurt Sam just as deeply as Dean’s death had.
John could be one selfish bastard sometimes, but Bobby figured that the stubborn hunter had his own reasons for not comforting his son. His only son. John was never one who liked to show emotions, always brushing them under the rug. Declaring them as signs of weakness. But Dean’s death wasn’t something that could just be brushed under the rug. It was killing John inside and because of that he had to stay away from his youngest. You can’t save others from drowning if you are drowning yourself.
Bobby gave the motel room door one last sad glance before getting into his truck and driving off. He would have to make sure that Sam stayed on the radar.
Sam’s exhaustion let him sleep for several more hours finally waking in the early afternoon. He blinked the sleep away from his eyes and looked around the now empty room. He had never felt so alone. Dean had always been there, or at least close by. Even hospital stays hadn’t been this lonely.
The pain of Dean’s death once again clutched Sam’s heart like a fist made of ice. He couldn’t stand the fact that he was alone, he didn’t like being alone. When he was alone he was vulnerable. He sat up in his bed and once again pulled the laptop up so that it was resting on his legs. He had to go over the details of each plan to see which way would be the best to bring his brother back. He wouldn’t be able to live with himself if he brought Dean back a monster.
As he scanned and crossed out each possible solution he was left with only three options. An ancient spell, magic or a wish. All three seemed really out in the dark but Sam was willing to give it a try. He just had to figure out how he could come in contact with a witch or gypsy. Those would be his best chance of getting his brother back in one piece, and in the same condition he had been in before the werewolf had exposed his racing heart to the open.
Sam gagged at the memory remembering just how badly wounded Dean had been. He wondered just how much pain had been in before his heart had mercifully stopped and he had drifted away. Too much, he had been in too much. Sam knew that Dean had suffered too much in the short time that he had lived through the traumatic experience.
Sam’s fingers once again began searching through the Internet, hoping to find some clue on where he could find a real witch or gypsy. Sometimes ads were placed to get some business and Sam was willing to try anything.
The first promising ad that Sam found was in Los Alamos, New Mexico. He stood up hastily and began packing his belongings into his bag not bothering about being neat. He was packed in ten minutes and grabbed both duffels. His own and of course his brother’s. Dean would need his duffel when he came back, and he would be back. Of that Sam was sure. He had a strong feeling in his gut that he would be seeing his brother again before too long. He couldn’t wait.

jj'sgirl - February 22, 2007 03:07 AM (GMT)

jennmbc - February 22, 2007 10:49 AM (GMT)
This update was certainly fast enough.
Poor Sammy, and John is a bastard!!!
I wonder if Bobby will figure out what Sam's up to.
At least I didn't cry this time when I read your update. LOL
Great update and I can't wait for more :cheer
Deanwinchesterfan1985 - February 22, 2007 09:51 PM (GMT)
Hey everyone sorry I didn't update this morning. It was crazy. I went in to work on my only day off because a friend called off sick. If she hadn't I would have been here all morning adding update after update until everyone was sick of them. LOL. I can't update again right now though because a friend is going to be here before too long, I'm taking her to go see Night at the Museum. So I will udpate again tonight after I get home. Thanks for all the comments!
Julie--I'm glad that you are enjoying this story so far. I'm not too sure about this chapter but I hope you like it anyway. Thanks for the comment. P.S. No more writing in silly putty it is a pain in the ass to get out of the carpet! LOL.
jj's girl--I told you I was a mean writer. Although in all fairness I wasn't really expecting to do that when I started The Gift. It was a totally last minute thing. What can I say? My mind is a little twisted. Thanks for the comment glad you are enjoying it so far!
Amanda--It is sad not having Dean's smart ass attitude around isn't it? Well he will be coming back before too long. Just give me a few more chapters. Thanks for the comment!
Becky--It is going to be good you can feel it already? I'll take your word for it. I wish I could say I felt as confident, but then I feel the same way about all my stories. So I guess it will be? I don't know you'll have to let me know as the story progesses. Thanks for the comment.
Jenn--I'm glad that the update was fast enough for you. I am glad that you didn't cry with the last update. That is a good thing. The story will get a little emotionally traumatic for Sam in the upcoming chapters, you will see but hopefully not too sad. Dean will be back before too long and Sam will be happy again. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks again everyone. I will update again tonight!
A car ride had never seemed so long to Sam. His brother wasn’t making annoying faces at him from the passenger seat or even snoring. Dean wasn’t there to yell at him when he didn’t use the turn signal or swerved into tight spaces in between cars.
Sam played Dean’s music just to make him feel close to his brother. After a few minutes though the memories of arguing with Dean over his choice of music made Sam pop out the tape he had so hastily inserted into it. He fiddled with the radio and finally settled on ‘Iris’ by the Goo Goo Dolls. The words seemed to flow through him. Not really hearing what was being said.
As he turned off the interstate he started to look for a motel. The only one in town didn’t look too appealing but Sam didn’t really care. He would only be staying here until he found the witch he had found on the Internet. After that he would take his brother and they would head out. Taking a vacation and seeing some of the things that Dean wanted to see. The top thing on his list would be The Grand Canyon. Dean had always wanted to see that, but never had.
Sam walked into the office with a small weak smile as the young woman behind the counter beamed at him.
“Hi there. Checking in?” The girl was Dean’s type. Tall with blonde hair that hung limply on her shoulders. Her bright green eyes seemed to be sparkling with the love of life. Her smile was warm and open.
Sam gawked at her for a moment before realizing that she was waiting for him to answer. He shook his head and pulled out his wallet. “Yeah, for three nights please.”
“Ok king bed then?” She looked somewhere over his shoulder and Sam realized that she was checking to see if he was with anyone.
“That’s fine.” Sam nodded and pulled out his newly obtained fake credit card. Samuel Hess. Samuel Cult had spent the rest of the money on his card and more besides on Dean’s funeral services. It had quickly drained the card dry and Sam had discarded it before heading out of town.
“Ok that is going to be sixty dollars.” The girl said holding her hand out expectantly for the card.
“Sixty dollars, is that all?” Sam asked narrowing his eyes curiously. He had never stayed somewhere so cheap.
“I well, I gave you my discount.” The girl was blushing hard now she avoided Sam’s surprised eyes and ran the card through the machine.
“Thanks. um” Sam smiled brightly and paused, realizing he didn’t know her name.
“My name’s Crystal.” The blonde turned back to Sam and handed him his card back.
“Thanks, Crystal. I don’t know why you did it but I appreciate it.” Sam’s smile faltered slightly when he saw Crystal looking away suddenly blushing again.
“No problem.” Crystal said quickly and handed Sam his receipt and room key. “Room 12 buzz if you need anything. I’ll be here all night.” She winked at him and smiled again before turning away from him, her cheeks a permanent pink now.
Sam stuffed his receipt into his pocket and walked back out to the impala to grab his duffel. As he shouldered the heavy bag he hesitated looking at Dean’s. It didn’t seem right to leave it in the car even if Dean wasn’t here. Sam shouldered that bag as well and made his way to room twelve unaware that Crystal’s eyes were eyeing him hungrily.
“He’s yummy.” Crystal whispered watching the young man shove the key into his room and disappear from view.
The room was no different from the hundred different rooms that Sam had stayed in. Well there was one difference, instead of the two single beds only one large one was in this room. It seemed so wrong but it seemed silly to get a room with two beds for just him.
The dark red comforter matched the carpet making Sam think of blood. It was the same color. A few ugly pictures hung from the walls and a small microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker sat on a small bar on one side of the room. A TV sat in front of the bed its blank screen seemed so empty. So dark, so cold and Sam somehow found it strangely comforting. As if it reflected everything he was feeling at the moment. Man being with out Dean was damn hard!
Sam settled himself and pulled up the page with the advertisement he had seen earlier. He read through it and his eyes popped open with surprise. The witch, was none other than the girl at the front desk.

But honestly, who doesn't?
But that means she'll be more sympathetic to him!
Since this update was awesome and did not make me miss Dean more than the other ones did, I will be nice and not ruin your house today. Maybe tomorrow, we'll see ;3

deathsingsasong - February 22, 2007 11:40 PM (GMT)
Sam is very, very yummy Crystal. I totally agree 100%.
And I love how out of all the aspects in the update, everyone seems to focus on the "He's yummy" part.
Hey, it IS the truth.
So, Crystal's the witch?
She seems like a nice witch. Like Glinda from Wizard of Oz.
I'm just hoping that she IS a nice witch and doesn't just SEEM like one.
And I'm also hoping for another update, preferrably soon, but don't worry I'll be waiting for however long it takes!!
jennmbc - February 22, 2007 11:52 PM (GMT)
ohhh nice twist that Crystal is the witch.
Hope you had fun at the movies.
I wish I could give Sam a hug. Poor baby :cry
I wonder what Crystal will do for Sam? I wonder what I could do for Sam :evil

Yes Candace, I'm glad I didn't got to the light... okay, my brother thinks I' insane now, 'cuz he's never read one of my posts...
Yeah... the lonely light would have been intolerable!
JennieC - February 23, 2007 12:29 AM (GMT)
Wow! You had a second update before I even had a chance to read the first! NIIIICEEEE!
You are doing a wonderful job capturing the angst from Sam, I am almost feeling a loss myself and I am just an observer.
Including the Grand Canyon was a wonderful touch. It is that kind of subtle attention to detail that makes this a wonderful story so far. I feel like I am reading about the Sammy we see each week, very nice.
|“He’s yummy.” Crystal whispered watching the young man shove the key into his room and disappear from view. |
Oh, Yeah he is!!!
Need to see what dad is up to <_<
Want to know more about this Crystal chick
Need me some DEAN!
thank you for a job well posted!
Klem - February 23, 2007 12:45 PM (GMT)
That was so good!!!! I though something was up with the girl!!!! Well I have a six an half hour field placement soon, I'll read an update hopefully when I get back....keep up ther great work!!!!
Deanwinchesterfan1985 - February 23, 2007 02:28 PM (GMT)
Hey everyone sorry I didn't update again last night. I was so tired. Yesterday was supposed to be my day off and I went in to work to cover someone else's shift. I was up way too early and work was way too long. By the time I got home I was already exhausted. I actually fell asleep at the movie theater when my friend and I went to see our movie. LOL. So needless to say when I came home I just wanted to sleep which is what I did. So anyway I hope this chapter was worth the wait. I have to work again this morning and have a few things to take care of when I get home but I will update after that I promise. Thanks for all the wonderful comments everyone! I appreciate them!
Shannon--Yes Crystal meant Sam was yummy in the oh my gosh he is so hot kind of way, not the wow I'm so hungry kind of way. Unless she is hungry for something else, although you didn't hear it from me. LOL. Yeah that always bugged the crap out of me that they spelled cemetery wrong so I spell it the right way despite how they do it in the book. That just bugs the hell out of me! I'm not going to kill Sam! I promise! Killing Dean was totally unexpected and was really hard to do. Bringing him back is going to be fun though. I'm excited. Thanks for the comment!
Storm_Lover13--Glad you enjoyed the little twist. Crystal had better help Sam out or else huh? Hmm too bad I was planning on her poking out an eyeball and ripping him limb from limb. J/K. I promise she is a good witch. Thanks for the comment!
Julie--Well thank you for not ruining my house yesterday. I was too tired to even try and clean it up. So by the time I would have gotten around to it, it would have been too late. Hopefully this chapter doesn't make you ruin my house today either. I'm still tired so I don't have a lot of energy to clean up. Thanks for the comment!
jj's girl--Hope you have a nice weekend away. Sam is one to get down to business isn't he? I like that about him. Anyway I don't know how many chapters I will have up by the time you get back but I hope you enjoy them. Thanks for the comment!
Cait--I thought it was funny that everyone seemed to focus on the "He's yummy" part as well. I'm glad that everyone enjoyed it though. So Crystal is a good witch not just pretending to be one, just to put your mind at ease. She really cares about Sam as well even though she just met him. Sorry that I took so long with this update. Hope you enjoy it. Thanks for the comment!
Jenn--Glad you enjoyed the twist with Crystal. Yeah I had fun at the movies until right in the middle of it when I fell asleep. LOL. What will Crystal do for Sam? Well I guess you'll just have to find out in the upcoming chapters. I'm not going to give anything away. Thanks for the comment!
Amanda--Can't wait for more huh? Sorry that I made you wait then. Just too tired to write any last night. Thanks for the comment!
Bethany--I bet that the lonely light would have sucked. Totally would have been different it Dean was there with you forever, I mean that would be heaven right there right? Who wouldn't want to spend eternity with a really cute guy? LOL. I'm glad you came back though since Dean is coming back. Your brother thinks your insane huh? Hmm well mine does too. Does that make us even? Thanks for the comment!
JennieC--I've been told that I update quickly although in all fairness this story has been progressing a little slower than my others. I'm just so exhausted from work and everything else going on. I'm glad that you enjoyed the last two chapters. Thank you for all the compliments you're making me blush :blush . Yes Sam is yummy I'm glad you enjoyed that part. You will find out more about Crystal in the upcoming chapters and Dean will be back before too long. Thanks for the comment!
Becky--I'm glad that you enjoyed the last chapter. Hope your six and half hour field placement goes well! This update will for sure be up by the time you get back. As for another one? Hmm. I doubt it but I will update again later this afternoon. Thanks for the comment!
Thanks again so much everyone. I really apprecaite every single comment I recieve. I hope everyone enjoys this next chapter and I will update again this afternoon. Have a GREAT morning everyone!
Sam couldn’t believe it the girl at the front desk seemed so normal. How could she be a witch? Sam ran his fingers through his tangled hair and leaned back against the headboard looking at Crystal’s picture. Even from the computer screen her bright green eyes seemed to be staring right at him, drawing him in. They were so mesmerizing. Sam shook his head and shut his laptop. He had to focus. He had to find away to ask Crystal for her help.
He stood slowly from the bed and headed for the bathroom. He would take a hot shower first, to give himself some time to think and then go back and talk to her. He let the hot water run for a few minutes before stripping out of his sweaty clothes. He had been in the car all day and felt sticky and uncomfortable.
The small mirror above the bathroom sink reflected the shadow of the person he used to be. Sam’s brown eyes normally so full of life seemed dark and empty, the black bags indicating lack of sleep and the pasty color of his skin was hardly noticeable compared to the way that it clung to his cheekbones. He hadn’t eaten very well since this had happened either. In fact in the past week he had eaten once and only because Bobby had insisted. He hadn’t been hungry though so whenever Bobby looked away Sam would sneak some of his food into a napkin on his lap.
His face appeared sunken almost like a skeleton, almost but not quite to that point yet. The still fresh scar on his abdomen stood out like a sore thumb. A distinct long mark that stretched from his belly button to almost two inches above that.
Sam shook his head clearing his mind of his thoughts and stepped into the now steaming hot water. He let the water lure him into a false sense of security, enjoying the feeling of the steaming water scalding his back. The way it seemed to burn into him bringing him out of reality and into the loving but painful memories that seemed buried with in him.
Man he was irritated Dean had been in that damn shower all morning. Almost an hour now and still the hot water continued to run. What the hell was Dean doing in there anyway? Sam flipped on his police scanner listening for anything out of the ordinary. He was rewarded with the news that someone else had been killed the night before. They had work to do and he had to get Dean out of that shower.
He walked quickly down the hall of this new house, still feeling like they really shouldn’t be here. He couldn’t believe he let Dean push him into squatting in an empty house. Steam was streaming out from the crack under door as Sam turned the corner to the bathroom. He pounded heavily on the door and waited for his brother to answer.
“You ever coming out of there?!” Sam demanded.
“What?” Dean called over the running water and Sam rolled his eyes in disgust.
“Dean a police call came in on the scanner.” Sam couldn’t keep the irritation out of his voice.
“Hold on!” Dean said firmly finally turning off the water.
“Someone was found dead three blocks from here come on!” Sam spat he couldn’t believe Dean was taking so long in the shower when they should be checking this thing out.
The door cracked open a bit Dean’s smiling face appeared a towel wrapped around his waist and another was wrapped around the top of his head covering his sandy hair. The steam was so thick in the room Sam was surprised that Dean could see anything in there at all. He didn’t envy his brother when he had to find his clothes. "This shower is awesome." Dean beamed at him.
“Come on.” Sam said rolling his eyes and turning away. He heard Dean close the bathroom door with a click. He strode back to the bedroom to grab their stuff and had to suppress a laugh. Dean had looked so funny with that towel wrapped around his head. His brother never ceased to amaze him. One of the many things he loved so much about his brother.
Sam shut off the hot water and grabbed a towel from the rack, wrapping it tightly around his waist. He wiped his face with his hands firmly trying to wipe the memories away with the water.
He grabbed his clothes and pulled them over his semi-wet body making the shirt stick to his back. He grabbed his room key and made his way to the front desk. If he was going to talk to this girl the sooner the better. He didn’t want to be without his brother for any longer than he had to be.
Crystal looked up as Sam once more stepped into the office. She eyed him carefully while trying to pretend that she wasn’t. His shirt was clinging to his damp body making every muscle clearly visible and she smiled appreciatively.
Sam smiled as he walked over to the desk. He had never been more nervous in his life, even telling Dean about his college acceptance letter hadn’t been this bad. He had never had to ask for help from someone he didn’t know. Not with something as important as his brother’s life.
“Hey is your room ok?” Crystal greeted warmly.
Sam nodded and leaned over the desk clasping his hands together and looked into Crystal’s bright green eyes. “It’s great thanks I just have a question for you.”
“Sure.” Crystal nodded and looked to Sam with intense curiosity.
“Are you Crystal Walling?” Sam asked.
Crystal seemed a little taken back but nodded her answer.
Sam bit his lip. Crystal seemed a little uncomfortable that Sam knew who she was. He didn’t want to push his luck he didn’t want to risk pissing her off or worse offending her. But he wanted, no needed her help if he wanted to bring his brother back. “What time do you get off?”
“In a couple hours. Why?” Crystal asked giving her watch a quick glance.
“I need some help. Can you stop by my room when you’re off? I’ll buy you a cup of coffee.” Sam shifted uncomfortably. He never felt comfortable asking girls out. That was Dean’s job.
“I’d like that. I’ll be there at eight.” Crystal said as the door opened and a young woman with two little kids came inside.
“I’ll see you at eight then.” Sam gave her a brief smile and walked away letting her get back to work.

Hey everyone this is going to be my last post for the night. I'm sorry I'm just so tired that I'm not thinking straight and I can't keep my eyes open. I'm pretty sure this chapter sucks so if it does just let me know. I'll understand. I can't believe I actually wrote it, what with my eyes closing every few seconds as I tried not to collapse on the keyboard. Litterally! So anyway sorry for lack of updates on this story and I'm sorry that Dean hasn't come back in this next chapter. So anyway let me know if it sucks and I will update again tomorrow. Night everyone. Thanks for all the comments!
Amanda--I'm glad that you enjoyed the little memory scene from the last chapter. That was fun to write. Glad you are enjoying it. Thanks for the comment!
Storm_Lover13--I have to ask...if Crystal doesn't help Sam out what is the "or else" going to be? You have to give me a good one. LOL. Glad you enjoyed the last update makes me happy. Thanks for the comment!
Bethany--You are welcome for the Sam in the shower scene. Everyone seemed to get a kick out of that part now didn't they? First it was the "He's yummy." part and now now the shower. LOL. I'm glad that everyone is enjoying it though. Thanks for the comment!
Becky--I'm glad that you enjoyed the last chapter and that it made you happy when you got back. Makes me happy that you enjoyed it. Here is the next chapter. It probably sucks but I'll let you decide for yourself. Thanks for the comment!
Sparkling_Star06--Yep Dean is dead, for now. Wow that is a depressing thing to say. LOL. I killed him off at the end of The Gift but he is coming back so no worries. I can't keep Dean dead for long. I love him way too much to do that. Thanks for the comment!
Jenn--I'm glad that you enjoyed the whole Sammy in the shower thing. That was fun to write as well as a little intresting since I'd prefer to see Dean stepping out of the shower myself but that is just me. LOL. I mean I didn't say that ignore me, I'll just hum to myself for a few seconds while you forget....did you forget yet? Ok good. You are having Dean withdrawls? Well I'm sorry to say but you will have to wait until tomorrow to get him back. I'm too tired to write anymore tonight. Thanks for the comment!
Shannon--I hope you aren't having sex with a dead guy that would be so wrong. LOL. Don't worry Dean will be coming back tomorrow I promise. I think I've kept him dead way too long and it is time to bring him back. I'm glad that you enjoyed the little Sam in the shower scene though. That was fun to write. If I want to use more graphic and revealing scenes next time feel free to do so huh? Hmm I'll keep that in mind. LOL. Thanks for the comment!
Thanks again everyone. Glad you all enjoyed the last chapter. Once again I'm really sorry if this one sucks but what can you do right? I'm too tired to rewrite it. LOL. Have a good one!
After Sam made his way out of the office trying desperately to avoid this woman and her two little noisy brats, Sam headed back to his room. He was tired the last week finally catching up with him. He let himself fall onto the semi-hard bed and closed his eyes. He was just so damn tired. He knew that he still had a couple hours before Crystal would be here so he might as well catch a few winks. He let himself drift off into the slumber his body so desperately craved.
Sam let himself sink into the comfortable couch and draped his arm over the armrest. He looked at the coffee table for a moment and debated about putting his foot on it. It looked so inviting.
“Boy you even think about putting your foot on my table I’m gonna whack you with a spoon.” A large black woman snapped at him.
“I didn’t do anything.” Sam insisted and noted that both his feet were still placed firmly on the ground. Although there was something weird about his feet. He had Dean’s shoes on and his voice sounded different to him.
“Well you were thinking about it.” The woman said menacingly. Sam opened his mouth a little shocked but turned to look at Dean only to see himself smirking in his direction. ‘What the hell?’
Sam looked down at himself for a brief moment and almost died of shock. He was inside Dean’s body there was no doubt about it. Everything about him screamed the name Dean to the last detail. From the dirt scuffed boots to the worn and torn jeans. From the silver ring on his right hand to the pendant resting against his chest.
Sam shifted uncomfortably he knew Dean would be down right violated and would give him a good ass kicking when they got out of this house. He turned once again to see his own body staring at him with a look of puzzlement.
“Dean, are you ok?”
Sam suddenly felt as if he were going to be sick. It was one thing to see himself but to hear himself speaking to himself. It was too much the world started to spin and Sam placed a hand to his forehead. His mind was reeling and no matter how hard he tried to get out of this he was sinking fast.
The feeling of the world caving in on him was driving him crazy and only making his nausea worse. He closed his eyes and let the black take over his vision for a moment but when he nausea died and he felt well enough to open his eyes again Missouri’s house was gone and with it his own body.
Instead he was making his way inside a dark bar looking around furiously for the bastard who had hurt his brother. He was going to make him pay and he was going to pay tonight! He fingered his .45 loaded with silver bullets tenderly. The weapon that would spell this bastard’s doom.
Then suddenly the creature was there he exchange angry words with it but it didn’t matter. The bastard would be dead soon and he would be back on his way to the hospital to get his brother out of there and away from this town from hell.
The creature lept at him as he pulled the trigger on his .45. The creature roared and swerved so that the bullet struck it in the shoulder instead of the heart as Sam had intended. He cursed loudly as the creature fell on him jarring him roughly. Sam thought he heard something snap and felt an intense pain all the way through his ribs. He knew he had broken a few of them.
Dragging in oxygen seemed to be more difficult with every breath and Sam knew that he had pierced a lung. He had to end this now before he blacked out. The creature was circling him, stalking him, mocking him. It made his blood boil. He pulled the silver knife out of his belt and pointed it at the ugly creature.
His vision was growing worse by the second and the werewolf smirked at him as if knowing that his victim was weak, as if knowing he had him right where he wanted him. After a moment’s pause the werewolf lept at him and Sam didn’t hesitate. He thrust the blade into the bastard’s heart.
The man from the werewolf’s skin immediately appeared and they both fell to the floor in a heap of blood and limbs. Sam managed to get Bruce’s body off of him and tried to sit up but felt a searing pain across his chest. He gagged as he looked down to observe the damage. His chest had been ripped wide open. A lung had indeed been pierced by one of his broken ribs and his heart…Sam swallowed thickly. His heart was starting to slow down.
All the world seemed to stop except for the beating of Sam’s heart, the only noise he could focus on. Thump……thump……thump. With every beat it grew softer until it finally stopped beating all together.
Sam woke up startled as a loud banging sounded on the motel door again. He rubbed the sleep from his eyes and walked to the door and saw Crystal standing outside giving him a bright smile.
“Hey, I’m here.” Crystal said beaming brightly at the young hunter.
Sam shook his head trying to clear his thoughts and make sense of the dream he had just had. “Ok, come on in for just a second.” He turned around to go grab his jacket from the bed when a thought struck him like a bash to the head. He had just witnessed Dean’s final moments. What Dean saw before the black had taken him, and his heart had stopped.
Sam’s knees locked and he trembled furiously for a whole minute. His eyes rolled up into his head as the dark started to swarm around him and he felt himself starting to fall. He never heard Crystal’s surprised and worried cry and never felt her arms wrap around him stopping him from banging his head against the dresser. He was too far-gone as a single sound filled his ears. Thump….thump…….thump…….and then all was silent.
P.S. Sorry I guess I should have added this sooner. Sam is NOT dead, just passed out. I promise I'm not going to kill him!
Storm_Lover13 - February 24, 2007 02:38 AM (GMT)
NOOOO!!! You can't kill Sammy too! Please! Have mercy! :cry
P.S. Fabulous update by the way! :D
jennmbc - February 24, 2007 02:49 AM (GMT)
Oh poor Sammy!! Seeing Dean's last moments on Earth :cry
Man that chapter didn't suck at all.
It's good Crystal stopped Sam from hitting his head.
Glad to know we get Dean back soon, but I'm worried about how Dean will be. :hide
JennieC - February 24, 2007 03:22 AM (GMT)
That was incredibly intense, if that is from you being tired, I don't know if my heart can handle you awake!!
I have some catching up:
I loved the 'bugs' refrence with the shower, making the connection to canon helps pull it together nicely. plus....shower..... :thud
The dream sequences are very 'edge of your seat' and are going to have me thinking about this and what it means for Sam to be experiencing Dean's memories. How is that happenning? Why? How, cool and scary that is.
Nice touch adding that Dean was the ladies man. It was a subtle reminder of one more thing that may have irritated Sam when Dean was alive only to want to appreciate it now that Dean is dead.
Get some well deserved rest, honey.
then get cracking!!!!!!!!!
:bow :bow :bow

HURRY UP AND BRING HIM BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!!!!!!!!!

deathsingsasong - February 24, 2007 03:53 AM (GMT)
Oh Poor Sammy!!!
Dean being dead is hard enough, experiencing the painful demise is torture!!
And, wow, Crystal must've been surprised.
But, theres nothing like a distraught Sammy falling into your arms...
man, i wish i could say that from experience.
well, oh well.
anyway, FANTASTIC update!!!!
AND, I can't wait for the next one...
where Dean and Sam will be alive and well, and happy, and joyful, and stress-free
well, i can dream right?
Klem - February 24, 2007 04:33 AM (GMT)
