Chocolate hued mitts padded softly on the bright terra. A light layer of crisp dew fell heavily on the new grass, illuminating the green in contrast to the browned mascu. Cool air graced the land, for t'was the early morn. Emerald pools peered through the glare of the sun that threatened to blind him, forcing his crown below to gaze at the bunches of flowers that adorned the ground... Celebrating the arrival of that cheerful season: Spring.

Mitts paused at the border of the Emerald fields, reluctant to venture so far out of his boundaries of comfort. Of course he would not set foot into the dreaded place of Boulder of Amber- ah, hopefully someday he would, yet not today. No, he would simply be out of his range, leaving the fields entirely unprotected... But surely there were none near. He had frustratedly admitted that to himself earlier.

He and Kipesse had arranged this before even beginning their construction; they must meet, however grudgingly, and create their own pack rules and guidelines. Punishments, agreements... Yet the bruten worried that it would end in growls and snarls, that nothing would be agreed upon.

Keeping his tanned tassle high, even above the raised crown, the mascu ventured out of the terra into the depths of unclaimed nothingness. Sitting 'pon his haunches and sporting a grave, forced serious expression, he awaited the arrival of his enemy.

It was not at all difficult to tell the boundaries apart from her own lands; the Boulder of Amber's packlands were distinguished and often lush- however, the border lands were often untouched and even barren. Giving a snort-like sniff of disapproval, the young owner of the Boulder of Amber parted from her own lands and into the more boring borders.

She lowered her nares to the ground, sniffing for other wolfen. Though he'd never crossed this exact area, senses told the fae that Malokyrn- the deemed enemy- was not far from where she stood. Her expression fouled at the thought of Emerald Fields' pack leader- she did not remember much of him, but the stories her mother had told her still forcefully told her that Mal was quite a menace.

Pausing before she completely left her own territory, Kipesse continued on, grudgingly, through the land. Before long, she could make out what appeared to be a wolfen in the not-so-far-off distance. A sassy expression that was almost a grin crept upon her wolfen features, as she moved forward- awaiting the greeting of the other, and conjuring up her own remarks.

Kip was not a beast who was prone to worry or really any feelings of negativity- except, of course, for hate- and so it did not even cross her mind that perhaps the meeting of the to alphas would be unsuccessful. All that littered her mind was the thoughts of hateful triumph that, for her, so often occured.

My cute little Mal's a control freak. XDDD

Twin peaks perked abruptly at the crunching of grass under wolfen paws; T'was not a new arrival... nares identified the femora as Kipesse. The bruten forced down the growl that had arisen in his throat, twisted the angry snarl into a look a displeasure. Crown twisted to meet the vixen in her cold steelblue orbs, reflecting his bright green ones. Ah, yes. The meeting had begun.

The mascu drew slightly closer to her, suspended on stiff pillars, then fell to rounded haunches once more. Pinnions longed for her to say the first word, for his sire had told him the tales of sassy Kip's idiotic outgoing disposition; yet she seemed entirely silent. Was she teasing him? Testing him? Or just shyer than Jesaedin has told him? No. His father had been correct about this evil wolfess. She had to be toying him. Huh.

Hello, Kipesse, he began harshly. Despite our greatest regrets, I'm sure, we have met again.

Ah, he must thank the cruel Jesaedin for teaching him the art of speech at an early age; even to his critical ears, the tones did not sound like those of a mere pup. For he had long since advanced from puppyhood; the bruten was young, true enough, but an adult. And if this encounter went askew it would be the fault of the foolish femora before him.

We have matters to settle. The foremost being, of course, each pack's specific rules. I would like to touch especially on one subject: punishment. If, for example, one of my wolves were to trod into your terra; please state your punishments for such an act. Also state your general rules.

The bruten felt in control. The bruten felt superior.

Hearing the words of the brute before her, the vixen's cunning expression returned.

Punishment for trodding upon my territory? she repeated smugly, Well- and believe me when I say this- I would so like to suggest death, however I'm not sure how possible such matters would be at this point... As only I rest in my own lands at this desperate time. Perhaps until the both of us have gained a reasonable amount of members, I shall lighten up on matters of punishment... Just to go easy on you.

Her expression grew to a teasing smirk at her last remark, and banner swished tauntingly for several seconds before she ceased, in order to keep from suggesting a submissive position. Ah yes, she certainly was enjoying this.

And as for general rules... I like to keep it simple- there will be no trespassing upon my land, and of course if I am ever to host specifics, they will be followed... If not, of course, those disobeying will be severely punished. Perhaps I shall be naive for talking back to you, but I suppose now would be an excellent time for you to state your own rules.

So as to protect herself from boredom and discomfort, the femora shifted for a moment before lowering herself to her haunches and making herself at home. No matter what the occasion, she always liked to appear casual and though she were enjoying herself- which, in most cases, she was.

Mwaha.

The bruten scoffed nearly inaudibly; ohh, yes. She was taunting him, teasing him, toying with him... How he would like to rip that smirk off her ugly little maw. No; they could keep this reasonable. Perhaps.

Slowly, the mascu rose from his haunches to rest on tanned pillars. Banner raised even higher, he began to circle her ponderously. His rules? Mmh, well, he hadn't really planned them. Yet no matter; surely they would flow easily from his maw. She had suggested death... "Going easy on him," how he wanted to make her pay for her smart remarks. Of course he would appear above her to ignore the foolish taunting. Hah.

Death seems entirely reasonable.. So I bestow similar rules upon my own terra. If your beasts should trod into my lands, I shall leave them at the mercy of my pack members and myself to deal with them as we please; should death be the result, so be it.

The brute had stopped his circular motion to speak with her; upon further though, he picked up the habit again, ever circling, trapping her... Piercing pools evaluated the alphena of the neighboring pack. He knew nothing of her, and this bothered him. He wanted to battle against her, find out her powers... She had to be fairly good at hunting, wasn't it true? Jesaedin had told him of the poor hunting in Boulder of Amber, how they had so little prey and needed to be experienced in the art of the hunt in order to avoid starvation. But could this little vixen fight? Could she think?

Another subject I'd like to touch on: our object of power.

Accccchhh! Soooosososo short!

As always, Kipesse did not take in fury or fear from the words of the other, but stealth-inquired joy. Though his orbs glared into hers, she did not return the stare but instead looked at him plainly and simply. And she enjoyed his circling; she had always liked it when her opponents wrongly thought themselves able to outwit her.

Ooh, object of power? What a fascinating subject it is!

Her tone was mock-overjoyed and accented with just a hint of irony. However, this was another of her little tricks- play sarcastic, even though you're not really. It did so appeal to her to get an opposite point of view from her opponents. And what made it even more amusing was how much he was hating her for it.

Slowly mounting her paws, her smirk changed to a sly sort of look of superiority. Patiently, as always, she waited for his outraged reply.

I'm sorry. X_X

Stop trying to keep calm, Mal, a subconscious voice urged the bruten. It's not healthy. For surely it was true... He needed to, ah, express himself. The growl that he had kept so expertly at the bottom of his throat was longing to come up; maw was beginning to wrinkle at the edges, obvious warnings of a snarl... And it broke through. The bruten snapped and snarled, grunting angrily at the vixen.

Do not play with me, wolfess, it is a waste of our time!

Why must she be so difficult? It was not to her advantage nor his to act in such a frustrating way. Ah, but if she kept this up, surely no pack members would be drawn to her... perhaps this attitude was alright, so long as he could bear it for the next few minutes. But if she refused to cooperate, then he would share his rules and guidelines first.

Very well: Under no circumstances will any wolf, my packlands or yours, approach the core of the Emerald Fields. Any wolf that does so, from your pack, will suffer death.

Or torture, the voice added. Ah, but no, he wouldn't torture victims... simply kill them. For no brute nor fae should live with the powers of the Emerald Fields... And none should know them.

Oh, but of course, that rule...

The vixen cursed herself inaudibly. She had forgotten to mention the penalty for entrance to the Boulder of Amber itself... However, she must come up with a comeback, in order to retain her reputation.

I hardly felt it necessary to bring up that rule... For isn't it obvious? Why on earth should I allow anyone access to my own treasures? That rule has been installed for centuries.

This time, she mentally praised herself. Though in truth she had acted out of stupidity, she had certainly kept her cover well- or so she decided. She lept beside her enemy, so as to make eye contact once more... she loved to have control of her clients this way.

A mock-sour expression crossed her features. Well, she continued, I see no reason to continue this conversation of sorts... shall we part?

As she spoke, she brushed banner dangerously close to the other. This, like all her other movements, was an action of trickery and mocking.
