The IIHF Junior hockey championships started in Ottawa. Defending champion Canada blasted Finland 8-1 to open up things. Play continues today. I'm looking at a Canada - US final unless someone else comes out of the woodwork

Hmmm not sure what your looking at, but Canada beat the CR first game, not Finland. 2nd game they beat Kazhakstan 15-0.....

Big game new years eve, Canada vs USA, winner gets a bye to semi's.

Sweden is really good, and the Russians always have a solid team. USA probably has the best number 1 line in the tournament, but I'm betting on a Sweden vs Canada final, Canada taking gold for a 5th straight year.

Players to watch:
John Tavares: Number 1 pick in the NHL, not the greatest skater in the world, but boy can he shoot.

Victor Hedman: 6'6 swedish defenceman is probably the best defender in the tournament, if anyone is taken number 1 over Tavares, this is him

Ryan Ellis: Small defenceman, actually right now is basically only playing on the powerplay...But when you talk about "quarterbacks" of the powerplay, he is the prototype. Scouts say they haven't seen a defenceman who can move the puck this well in the CHL in 20 years. Watch out for his pump fake on the pp. Currently a top 10 pick, but would not be surprised if he moves up to top 5

last night's gold medal game was one of the best hockey games I have watched in a long time.....great goaltending.....referees let several calls go that were solid penalties both ways.....Canada has now won 5 consecutive Gols medals....now the only championship that Pat Burns had not won is a Stanley Cup......

As a canadian, the semi-finals were INSANE. Scoring with 5 seconds left, everyone in the room went crazy. 2nd year in a row they put us through some serious drama!

Nothing like Canadian Junior Hockey
