Newgrounds has been phished, May be forced to shut down, please look

In case some of you haven't noticed, Egoraptor, one of Newgrounds' moderators, was 'hacked', more or less got his login information phished by the Duck Division. They then decided to plaster the Art Portal with pornographic images, without any mods restraining them. Flagged reviews, also, were given clean marks, and penalized the users flagging them. Celest's whistle was even lowered due to this. A mother from San Fransisco is going to sue Newgrounds staff for being responsible for putting these highly pornographic images on the front page of a site her thirteen year old son regularly visits.

"No one actually hacked the site - they phished a couple mod's passwords, and then did things we trust mods not to do. This wasn't a case of exploited security weaknesses; it was a clever hoax site that duped some people. There's nothing we can do to prevent things like that, except tell users to be VERY CAREFUL."

I'm waiting for TomFulp to speak up on the matter. Ego already admitted to being hacked, so this isn't a joke.

So does this mean that Newgrounds isn't safe to visit right now? I mean, moreso than usual?

It's safe to visit now, but there's the possibility of the site shutting down.

It was only a matter of time before one of the "crews" screwed things up for everyone else.

Newgrounds has been in court many times before, I'm pretty sure they can get out of this one too. This isn't the first time someone has tried to shutdown the site.

And what is that kid doing going to newgrounds in the first place...*cough* dress-up games *cough*. (jk)

But what I really mean to say is that there is already a fair bit of mature content on newgrounds as is...although from what I saw, it was a little over the top. But this kid should have already known what to expect from NG's. I pray his mother doesn't find the other stuff.

Newgrounds marks anything Mature as such. The kid's mom doesn't have a case.

Stupid, stupid, over protective mothers, they ruin pretty much everything (or at least try).

That's the issue, though. They got everything to not be marked Mature, therefore the case still stands. =/

What if Duck Division is actually comprised of overprotective mothers trying to shut down Newgrounds?

That would be hilariously ironic.

I think it's got more to do with someone seeing an opportunity to rake some cash in at someone else's expense.

*gasp* Someone exploiting others in an attempt to make money? Absolutely unheard of!
