Jeph had been thinking about her since that night on the beach. Omari, what an animated character. She'd been so sweet, but then just everything had gone completely wrong...
But it was something he couldn't control, things she'd said that he was sure she hadn't meant it but it had been weighing on his mind for the last week or so. Was it that? That his dad hated him? It was slowly killing him.
Sighing heavily, he huffed and pulled his hat down over his face as he flopped down onto a nearby bench, dropping his head back and breathing out heavily.
Omari knew the things she had said were out of order, and she'd do anything to apologise. Of course she'd be too nervous to actually get the words out and she'd probably stutter and he's think she was retarded as well. So she did what every girl does when they're feeling down. Retail therapy. In other words, she went shopping.
So far she hadn't missed a single one on her way through town. Topshop, Bay, Pilot, Hot Topic, Mark One, New Look, Million Dollar Babe, Chanel, Gucci, oh and the list goes on. She had millions of bags at her side, and your probably thinking 'where did she get all that money?!'. Let's just say there may have been a guy, that she may have agreed to go out with, and may not have meant it, to maybe just get his credit card. It helped being beautiful. Her flats made a repeating thudding noise on the ground as she diverted down an alley way, starting through the market with her mobile phone to her ear. "Yes, I love you too .. Yes .. Yes." And what a lovely time to drop all of her bags. Right. In front. Of. Jeph. "Oh wait a second, I just dropped some bags .. Yeah I did .. Yes I do love you. I promise .. Not at the moment .. Don't say that on the phone, someone might hear you .. (insert giggle here) Mhm, sure." Omari giggled, crouching down to start picking up her bags. "Yes you are the best kisser .. No I haven't kissed anyone else since I've been here .. I'm not lieing, why would I lie to you?"
Jeph had been comfortably sitting on the bench, minding his own business, not disturbing anyone. He thought he was being rather polite about other people's space believe it or not. But then she came along. For some reason all he wanted to do was act like a little boy and kick her clothes around everywhere along the highstreet. But no, no he was a gentleman. So...again he sighed, looking down at her small frame as she picked up her bags. Reaching down, he picked a rather small garment (one he was highly unfamiliar with at that) with one finger off the pavement and handed it to her without looking at her, his chin resting in the palm of his hand as his elbow rest on his knee. Ahh life was such a bittersweet symphony.
"Well you'll have to hang on for a second .. I'm trying to pick up all my bloody clothes .. SHH .. There's people around me .. Look I'll ring you back .. Yes .. Mhm .. Love you too .. No I love you more .. " She hung up on him because she'd discovered how long that could go on for when she let it. He really was a sweet boy but he was so naive. When your filthy rich and a girl asks for your credit card it's wisest to say no. She muttered something under her breath, praying to god none of her clothes had got dirty. Replacing them back in the correct bags she glanced to her side, ready to pick up the rest of her things .. Then noticing .. Oh god .. Her eyes lifted to his, but he didn’t even want to look at her. Omari couldn't expect much more. Her hand outstretched and she took the garment from him, replacing it in her bag. Swallowing, her mouth opened, her mind racing for something to say. "I .. umm .. thanks."
Jeph didn't quite look up to her when she hung up on her beau, but he did as she muttered her thanks. God she was beautiful. No problem. He said with a soft smile, true JephA style. He didn't want to ask about the guy on the phone, but there was no doubting that a little part of his heart was entirely demolished. Kind of like the lost city of Atlantis- poof. Gone. You...(insert throat clear here) may...wanna, be...careful. He stumbled over his words before he collected himself. Some of the curbs around here are murder if you're not paying attention.
Oh god she felt like a twat then. Standing infront of him with ten million or so bags in her hands having just told someone she loved them on the phone after she couldn't open up to him. Idiot. Her eyes dropped to her feet, the points of her flats rubbing over each other. That was a sign that she was nervous, and didn't know what to say. When she played with her fingers it was a sign she was lying. And when she was obsessed with how clean things must be it was a sign she was distraught. It fell silent between them, and she found it the perfect time to say her piece. "Listen, I just-", before she could finish her phone was buzzing in her jeans. She grunted in exasperation, yanking the phone out of her pocket and hurling it at the floor. "Give me a fucking second, you twat!" She said rather loudly at the phone, not realising how many people were then staring at her. She then turned back to Jeph, her eyes meeting his for a second. God, he was handsome. No, no, he hated her, carry on .. "I wanted to say sorry. I was out of order, and I can understand if you never want to talk to me again ever but I'm a coward, and I ruin my own life in front of my eyes just because I want a reason to be a failure." She glanced down at her feet. "I'm not looking for an excuse, but I'm sorry. Say anything. Call me anything. I deserve it." She was prepared for the worst. Whore, slut, bitch, maybe even a slap? Deep down she knew he wouldn't ever do that though ..
Jeph listened to her string of verbal diarreha, but he couldn't help but know she meant her appology. He didn't really know what to say, but then she kept going so he really didn't have anything to worry about. He made sure she was done, taking a moment to absorbe what she'd just spat out of that cute little mouth of hers.
Sighing heavily, he sat back on the bench. Omari you know I'm not going to do that to you. He said, patting the spot on the bench beside him for her to come sit. I'm nicer then you remember? He smirked playfully.
So she rambled. But she was nervous. She wanted him to accept her apology but she wouldn't be surprised if he didn't. Her heart had stopped beating in her chest, waiting on edge for him to say something. Possibly fuck off. When he finally spoke a sigh escaped her lips but she still stood there like a little girl that had been told off. Her eyes glanced down at her feet then back up to him, glancing at the seat next to him and obediantly taking it, placing her bags in the small space beside her, and some on the floor. When he spoke again she grinned, chuckling softly, "I remember." She replied, resting her head on his shoulder, loosening up slightly. "He'll be here any second." She told him. The guy, who's name was Ben, had only been in his apartment, which was practically round the corner. And .. Yep, there he came. The boy came sprinting round the corner, stopping and leaning down on his knee's to gasp for breath, his eyes scanning the market place for our oh so lovely Omari. When he spotted her his brow furrowed, glancing at Jeph. "Who's he?"
Jeph laughed softly and wrapped his arm around her shoulders, kissing the top of his head. I think it'd be impossible to forget. He teased. Sure he had been angry with her that night, but it was something she couldn't control and she'd appologized. She'd warned him of what he was getting into and he wouldn't hold it against her. But as she spoke again, he looked down to her, cocking his head to the side in confusion. Huh? He questioned, but then it was quite apparent. Oh. Wow.
Sufficed to say, she adored being there in Jeph's arms, it wasn't far from paradise. If only her 'boyfriend' wasn't standing there in front of her and they weren't in the marketplace, it would be perfect. "Listen, Alex." She began, pulling away from Jeph and standing up before the boy. "No offence or anything, but fuck off, yeah? Here's your credit card," She said, pulling the gold piece of plastic from her pocket and placing it in his hand. "And there's the path. I'm sorry for everything, including mixing out your credit card. See you around." She said, kissing his cheek swiftly and then turning him with his shoulders and giving him a shove in the direction he had came. It was obvious Alex was confused, and rather angry, because he them stormed off. Omari replaced herself back down next to Jeph and rested her head on his chest. "Guys." She muttered, rolling her eyes, giggling softly.
Jeph watched the exchange in front of him in awe, not quite sure if he should laugh or not. Well, seems that he had one that battle without even fighting for it. As she shoved him away he had to turn his head, doing his best not to break out with a laugh before he was gone and around the corner and she was sitting back down beside him on the bench. Now, I have absolute faith that you are quite aware of what I'm about to tell you, but you know I don't have one of them right? He asked as he wrapped his arm around her shoulders again, resting his chin on the shoulder of hers that was closest to him. Goodness she was pretty.
When he spoke she laughed, lifting her hand and giving his cheek a small pat. "Mm, sadly. I'm sure you''ll earn one though." She said turning her head as she felt his chin resting on her shoulder. She looked at him and grinned, blowing air into her cheeks and making a fatty face, then blowing a raspberry. "Your a cute kid, you know that?" She said, kissing the tip of his nose before setting her eyes out over the market once again. She wouldn't be surprised if Alex came back to pick up the phone she'd hurled at the floor. Omari smiled softly, watching the people bustling about and most probably whispering about her.
Jeph resisted the urge to reach out and pinch her cheeks as she puffed them out, laughing at her remark. Why yes I'm very well aware thank you very much. He replied, leaning up to kiss her cheek softly. And speaking of filthy rich people- guess who got an audition for lead guitar in a band? Though it was a safe bet that she'd guess anyway, he thought he'd ask.
A small pink flush creeped to Omari's cheek when he kissed her. He made her blush, so he couldn't be that bad, hmm? When he spoke of the lead guitarist she grinned, looking down at him and lifting her fingers to tweak the end of his nose. "I could put on the excitement act, but Calvin already told me. But I think someone deserves a congratulations kiss." She said with a chuckle, lifting his chin with two of her fingers, her eyes watching his. "Close your eyes, if you may, Jephrey dear." It was true, the girl quite liked pet names. And Jephrey was his.
Jeph frowned as she spoke about Calvin, sighing as he did what she commanded- his lids falling lazily over his eyes. Well you could at least pretend you know, it wouldn't exactly kill you. Not that I want you to die, not at all. I'm just saying...well you're going to kiss me so I'll shut up now. He finally managed, taking a deep breath and taking a hold of her hand, kissing the top of it gently. Just because he could.
