Mika feel downwards into the field of stars, the clear sky above her obscuring. Everything was fading into a pale grey, making it so that there was nothing more. She thought of children and what could have been, but knowing that what was. Sleep. Rest.

And, as such, she shut her mental eyes and went into silence. How quiet. How peaceful.

Gregory's eyes twitched. He couldn't feel her. He couldn't feel her pulse in his ears. He couldn't feel it in his veins. She was cold. The smell of death.

Cold. Lifeless. Hard. His fingertips grazed her cheek. He wanted to stay with her. Part of him wanted to join her. To end his unlife. To stand in the sun... but he was a coward. He wanted to cling to her life. She couldn't die because he didn't want her to! Gregory clung to her corps. He didn't want to let go.

The stench of death clouded his every sense. He wanted to cling to her. He wanted to stay, but..

Death hung in the air. It set his already frayed nerves on edge. He was shaking. He wanted her. Gently, he laid her on the ground.

He reached into his pocket. Two coins we placed delicately on her eyelids, and a soft prayer was said to a being that Gregory wasn't sure existed.

And he was gone.
