It was only a day before the full moon. Thatch always got rather distant and lonely before hand, no matter who was around him at the time. He hated that it was that way for him, but he figured that it was the wolf within him. Instead of drinking, as had been doing for the past few months, the boy figured he'd do something he hadn't done in a while and play his guitar.

Gathering the instrument, he headed down the corridor near the intrance to the Gryffindor commonroom, there was a classroom there that had great acoustics. Sitting on the window ledge, one foot on the wall, Thatch adjusted himself and he guitar and strumed the strungs slowly, tuning it up a bit.

He leaned his head back, not watching his fingers as they moved down the fretboard. The melody was slow, but sweet. He sighed, and closed his eyes, as the words came to him...

Are you climbing up a slippery pole?
Fallin Deep In A Hole?
Fallin Down
Are you lost in an exitless maze,
Chasing impossible ways?

Are you runnin up a slippery hill?
Are you going to spill?
Can't you build a snowman in the desert?
Are You chasing an imaginary treasure?
Walls, they go under and there over the top
They haven't made a cage strong enough to keep 'em keep 'em keep 'em
Mountains are enormous, but they all have a top
It's up to someone with a dream to come and reach 'em reach 'em reach 'em

It's Just A Dream
You're Only Dreamin'
Another Dream

Will love be yours, if so, will it last?
When the summer's past, summers past
When you're alone, starin up at the moon
Is it staring at you
You're lucky dime you didn't mean to spend Will you ever see it again?

Walls, they go under then there over the top
They haven't made a cage strong enough to keep 'em keep 'em keep 'em
Mountains are enormous, but they all have a top
It's up to someone with a dream to come and reach 'em reach 'em reach 'em

It's Just A Dream
You're Only Dreamin'
Another Dream

Walls, they go under then there over the top
They haven't made a cage strong enough to keep 'em keep 'em keep 'em
Mountains are enormous, but they all have a top
It's up to someone with a dream to come and reach 'em reach 'em reach 'em

Yeah, come and reach em
Only a dream
It's just a dream
It's just a dream
And then they go on in your head and you would scream
Holdin Back your dreams
Yeah, ohh, holdin back your dreams
Yeah, Hold Always Dreamin' Never Always Dreamin'

[a/n: Zug Izland, Dreams is the song. ]

Nai felt sneaky, she was wondering why Thatch had seemed off lately, she knew the full moon had to do something with it. Nai followed Thatch quietly, she knew he had not noticed her. She watched enter the class room, and she sat outside the door.

Nai had brought her knees to her chest as she sat next to the door listening to the guitar. Then the words came.

The words flooded her, she never heard him sing before, the words made her feel so helpless, and yet helpful. She wanted to go speak to him and for once she was nervous.

Song was his way of letting out feeling. Her's was adventures.

Thats when it hit her, she had a plan, and hoped that later Thatch would not hate her for it later.

Thus she shifted. She held her mouth closed so the sighs of pain would not come out, she grew charcoal grey fur and little pointy ears. Her eyes stayed golden, but were more vibrant. Her hands escaped her and formed under her, they had grown little pads and claws, a tail sprouted, it was long and fluffy.

There she stood in the hall next to the door as a large charcoal grey wolf.

She wandered into the classroom, tail down, ears bent back with a look of sorrow in her eyes. She whined a small bit to catch his attention. Looked out the window, whimpered and started heading for the door.

She hoped he would follow.

The song had faded somewhere in his throat as the last note played out against the dusty walls of the room. He wasn't really sure where the words had come from, and if he'd ever remember them again, but it sure did help to get them out when he did. To be honest with himself, he was confused. He really liked Nai, but in a way he felt now he was cheating on Heather, even if they hadn't spoken in at least a few months now. He supposed it was the fact that he didn't know. Their relationship was either over or somewhere in limbo, and she'd show up out of nowhere and then he'd be the on to have to make a choice.

A damn near impossible choice.

Thatch sighed again, taking a glance outside. Anyone that didn't hate it, would probably have enjoyed the silvery glow of the moon on the gardens or grounds. Thatch on the other hand, just shook his head.

An odd noise came from behind. It sounded like something was hurt, or crying. Looking in the direction of the noise, he wasn't really surprised to find those golden eyes staring up at him. The sadness within them, however, was another story. A pang of guilt traced his body. He had isolated himself from her too... and she understood him.

As she turned away from him, Thatch wasn't sure weither or not to follow. Making a split decision, he grabbed his guitar and followed the charcoal tail that had just dissapeared through the doorway.

Nai could hear Thatch's footsteps quickly following her. She did not want to be too fast but she really was not to worried, he would be able to find her. She darted around corners, panting lightly. Her charcoal paws were racing, her mind was trying to keep up with her feet, and her heart was pounding. She truly was just following where her feet were taking her.

As she ran the silver moonlight would spill unto her fur as she passed by the windows. Occasionally she would glance back to see if Thatch was behind her. She broke through a the doors, to the outside and headed for the beach.

She kept running to the sea front, and hoped Thatch would continue following.

Nai needed Thatch to follow her, she knew that he may have a decision to make if Heather ever appeared, but for now, the night was hers, he was hers and she was his.

There was a strange thought that had crossed the young man's mind, as he continued along the hallway after Nai. He didn't question her at all. He had just gotten up, and followed her. Even in the form she was in, which was a wild animal that could just as easily torn him apart then look at him, he trusted her.

A small smile snuck onto his face at that idea, as he went through the front doors, onto the grounds and off across them. He figured that they were either going down to the quidditch field, or the ocean front...and the way that she was bounding past the field, he opted for the latter.

Picking up his pace, Thatch made sure to place the guitar strap around his neck and shoulder, and he moved it around so that it was against his back so that he could jog to keep up with Nai.
