Ahora mismo no tengo tiempo para traducirla íntegramente pero lo que viene a decir es que la decisión de echar a Isaiah fue muy premeditada y que no se arrepiente de nada ya que cree que fue lo mejor para todos. Que nadie de la ABC le presionó para echarlo y que a pesar de lo que se pueda pensar, en ningún momento el final de la tercera temporada habría sido diferente aunque Isaiah siguiera en la serie. También dice que en ningún momento se pensó en sustituir a Isaiah por otro actor de raza negra, se refiere a que Preston Burke fue un personaje muy querido durante tres temporadas y el mero hecho de poner a otro actor no cubre la falta de Isaiah porque lo más importante de Preston Burke no era, ni mucho menos, su raza. En cuanto al silencio que ha mantenido dice que lo hizo por proteger a todo el elenco de Grey's a los que considera una familia, dice que cuando hay un suceso de este calibre no le importa para nada el mundo exterior y sólo quiere pensar en los suyos.

Al preguntarle por su reacción con T.R dice que todo va muy bien, que T.R y todos siguen adelante y que está haciendo un trabajo magnifico. Todo en el set está muy bien y se sienten todos muy frescos, con ganas de rodar y de pasárselo un poco mejor esta temporada

También habla de la reacción de George-Izzie diciendo que la gente a reaccionado de una forma muy fuerte. Cree que nadie está preparada para una relación así, ni ella mismo, ni George e Izzie, ni la audiencia. Pero que habrá que ver como transcurren las cosas.

I think that sneaky Shonda Rhimes tried to escape! Immediately following the press tour panel for Private Practice, Rhimes -- while stepping down from the dais -- attempted to duck backstage before the gaggle stampede could swallow her up. There was just one problem: There was no backstage for her to head to. The black curtain she tried to penetrate was actually covering a wall. There was no way out. As a result, she was forced to answer direct questions about a topic that she has thus far been able to avoid: Isaiahgate. (For the record, an ABC rep denies that Rhimes was trying to flee the scene -- insisting she was merely unsure where she was supposed to go.) In any event, I gotta give her credit. Once she realized her back was to the wall -- quite literally -- she handled the interrogation with candor and grace.

How difficult was it for you to have to let Isaiah go, on a personal level?
Shonda Rhimes: It wasn't. It was a decision that was a long time in coming, and it felt like it was the right decision for all of us.

Given everything that transpired during the hiatus, did you feel the need to give the cast a pep talk on the first day back?
Rhimes: No. They're a group of real professionals who really rose to the occasion last season, and really delivered some amazingly powerhouse performances at a time when we were all sort of having an emotionally hard time. So, I feel like, no, we're a family. Nobody needed a pep talk.

So, the decision to fire Isaiah was not something that was imposed on you?
Rhimes: The great thing about [ABC Studios head] Mark Pedowitz and [ABC president] Steve McPherson is they never imposed anything on me.

So you agreed with the decision?
Rhimes: Of course I did.

Would you have written the season finale differently if that stuff hadn't happened during the season?
Rhimes: I wrote the season-ender exactly as I planned to write the season-ender. What's kind of amazing is the season-ender finished the story of Preston Burke that really paid tribute to that character and the talent of Isaiah Washington in a way that made sense. But also went exactly where our show was planning to go anyway.

You were quoted as saying it was disturbing the thought that one black actor could be replaced with another. Do you have any second thoughts about saying that, particularly in light of the recent recast on Private Practice?
Rhimes: No, I think there's a point there. I think that Preston Burke, the character that audiences have come to know and love for three seasons, it's very different. And at a time which there was some talk of, 'Let's cast this actor or that actor... " sort of naming a bunch of black actors... as if the only thing that was important about the character of Preston Burke was his race. That was disturbing to me. It's a very different situation from the enhanced [two-hour episode of Grey's], which was our version of a pilot. Pilots get recast all the time. Ours just happened to air. It wasn't a matter of needing to find another black actor. It was a matter of, Audra McDonald is the person we want.

Do you understand that there were people that interpreted this as you turning a homophobic incident into a racial incident?
Rhimes: I do now. Absolutely. But I do think that [specific] discussion was disturbing to me -- as disturbing as the entire incident that happened for T.R. and Isaiah.

In retrospect, do you wish you had spoken out sooner about the whole thing?
Rhimes: Here's the thing. I know for you guys it's incredibly frustrating that I didn't say something. And I'm kind of sorry, because I know you guys have stories to tell. For me, the story we have to tell is the story of the show, and my instinct when something like this happened is to sort of close the doors and hunker down with people that are my family and protect them as much as possible. The outside world became far less important to me than those people that I work with every day. And making sure that those people that I work with are OK. I wasn't worried about the outside world. The outside world's not something that I can control. But the people I work with every day were. And I really was spending my time dealing with that, not dealing with whether or not I should make a statement.

When was the moment when you realized, 'You know, we're going to have to make a change here?'
Rhimes: Again, I feel like this is stuff that happened in our family, and I don't want to give specifics on sort of how and what happened. But there was a moment when I was sure and felt good and comfortable about the decision and that it was the right decision to be made for everybody.

How are things between you and T.R. now?
Rhimes: We're good. I feel like everybody is working really well together. T.R. is doing some amazing work. We're moving forward. We're excited about the stories we're telling this season. It feels like they're fresh... and we're going with the idea that we want to have a little bit more fun this season.

There seems to be a lot of in-fighting at Grey's. Do you think you can do anything differently in terms of managing that set?
Rhimes: Well, I don't know. I've never run a television show before, so I only know one way to run a television show, which is: you have an enormously talented group of people; you become enormously popular way faster than you ever thought was going to happen; and then you swim.

Switching gears, were you surprised by the strong reaction to George/Izzie?
Rhimes: I had a strong reaction to George and Izzie.

A strong negative reaction?
Rhimes: I wasn't sure I was ready for it. I don't think anybody's ready for it. I don't know if George and Izzie are ready for it. He's married, and she said some really harsh things. I feel like if you follow our characters you know that they're flawed, they're human, they make mistakes. Sometimes mistakes are the absolute right decision and sometimes mistakes are the absolute wrong one. It's a really interesting relationship to explore.

Sabeis q? Me dá pena Shonda, en serio... creo q ha sido algo q se le ha ido de las manos sin saber cómo, y en el fondo, su decisión me parece la correcta... en cuanto al despido (no hablemos ya de ello mas) como lo de guardar silencio.

Realmnente parece q le importa el cast y q todo se desarrolle como en cualquier otro trabajo, y dejó q fueran los demás losq hablaran xra hacerlo ella ahora q todo está calmado, y con todo lo de los Emmys, parecia un buen momento!

Muchas gracias por el artículo , me puse a leerlo y está muy interesante y el tema es que Shonda lo tenía todo previsto... sabía cual era el momento justo para no cortar "más" la historia de Burke & Cristina... aunque para mi quedarán muchos cabos sueltos con esta decisión!! ¬¬

Aunque ya lo dije a mi personalmente no me parece mal la relacion entre george e izzie pero pq es que me caen genial, por eso haber como hace para solucionar ese entuerto aunque cualquier cosa seguro porque con esa cabeza tan retorcida que tiene la señora shonda. :huh:

Lo único que espero que con el dempeo no nos haga sufrir mas. :(

A mí lo que me alegra de esta entrevista y de todas las veces que hemos visto a Shonda hablar este verano, es que habla del Gizzie, o de Isaiah vamos xD Quiero decir, que espero que esta temporada no nos rellene tanto la serie de MerDer, porque respeto a quien le guste pero el temita harta mucho, está en todas partes y terminas hartandote, y conste que a mí me gustan pero no taanto. Así que más protagonismo para otras personas!

Y en lo de Isaiah yo opino como ipop, la verdad que creo que Shonda lo ha hecho bien, intentando contentar tanto a la ABC como sin quedar mal con Isaiah, no sé, creo que lo ha hecho bien...

la verdad es que he leido la entrevista, muchas gracias killa....... :rolleyes: y he de decir que estoy de acuerdo en general con Shonda, aunque no tengo del todo claro que ese final no fuese un poco forzado por la previsible marcha de IsapesadoBurke........

A mi en particular no me disgusta la relacion entre George e Izzie
pero todos sabemos que quien manda es en realidad el publico en
los EEUU.

Por mi parte me gustaria que le dieran una oportunidad
quiza uno o dos capitulos para tantear como va con respecto al nivel

de audiencia y con ello o dar una continuidad o un final a ese hilo
de la trama.

Recuerdo que en una entreviesta que le hizo el canal E! en E!News
Shonda habia dicho que una de las Series que habia influenciado en

ella era Dawson's Creek y para quien la conozca sabran a lo que me

refiero en cuestion de sorpresas en la relacion de los personajes.

Yo creo que lo de Izz y George no sabe como llevarlo,es un tema peliagudo.Y a los norteamericanos no les suelen gustar estas movidas cuando le tienen simptatía a un personaje (a mi la Dra. Torres no me cae mal).
Sobre lo de Burke,ya es agua pasada,ha hablado ahora porque las cosas estan más calmadas.

para arreglar lo de gizzie tendran que meter algo de fantasia tipo "lost" porque sino no tiene arreglo. yo creo que shonda lo paso fatal, porque las presiones seguro que estubieron ahi.

Pues según Pizquita , al menos en los 2 primeros capítulos de la 4ª temporada el gizzie sigue.

Muxas thanks por la entrevista. La verdad que recién tengo tiempo para ponermen al día en muchos post y me encantó leer como Shonda esgrime sus argumentos del por qué Isaiah no está ya en la serie y demases cuestiones relacionadas con Grey's.

pues yo creo que la relacion de cristina y burk daba mucho juego y me encantaba....y ahora que. se va a quedar cristina despechada siempre despues de lo que paso con el aborto y su relacion con burk. es injusto. solo por un mal entendido que se tubo que solucionar en los camerinos y no salir en la prensa

Me da un poco de pena no ver más al Dr. Burke, en el fondo me gustaba ese aire altivo y con buen fondo que tenía el personaje... :snif:
Lo que no llevo muy bién es la relación entre Izzie y George, no me acaba de gustar que se lien entre ellos, a ver qué pasará...

A mi no me gusta nada el gizzie,es contranatura,pero si adoro el merder,a mi denme muuuucho merder,me encanta.

:P Yo también estoy de acuerdo con Shonda, aunque he de reconocer, que voy a hechar algo de menos a Burke, al igual que a Addison (... Bueno, a Addison, sinceramente, la echaré mas de menos :xd: )
