SWRPC Rules
General Rules
1) Obey all of IF's rules: these can be read at the Terms of Service, and the Terms of Use.
The most prominent of those being:
Prohibited Content:
Users may not post, upload, link to, or email any Content that contains, promotes, gives instruction about, or provides prohibited Content. Prohibited Content includes any Content that breaks any local, state, county, national or international law. Prohibited Content also includes:
- Content that infringes upon any rights (including, but not limited to, copyrights and trademarks)
- Abusive, threatening, defamatory, racist, or obscene Content
- Viruses or any other harmful computer software
- False information or libel
- Spam, chain letters, or pyramid schemes
- Gambling or Illicit drugs
- Terrorism
- Hacking or cheating Content for internet/online games
- Warez, Roms, CD-Keys, Cracks, Passwords, or Serial Numbers
- Pornography, nudity, or sexual material of any kind
- Excessive profanity
- Content that is invasive of privacy or impersonation of any person/entity
- Hacking materials or information.
2) Common Courtesy:
This is pretty straight forward, just use common courtesy when dealing with other's, just as you do in real life, to people you actually talk to in person. No one likes a jerk, or ass, so don't be one, and there won't be any problems.
This can include a variety of things, such as when angry, don't resort to childish name calling, realize that you're getting angry, at someone you've never even met, nothing is stopping you from simply walking away for a bit, and realizing how dumb it really is to get angry at such a thing.
Regardless, do know that I deal with flamer's as need be, regardless of your position at the site, or how long you've known me or any of that, you do the crime, you do the time mentality.
3) Staff
1) Having moderating and admin powers is a privilege, not a right. Abuse of the powers will result in removal of them, with a very low chance of ever getting them back.
2) Do not ask to be an admin or mod (or VIP since we're on the subject of promotions). If you ask, you won't get it. If you should be an admin or Mod, the staff will decide on it. (All promotions must be cleared by the Head Administrator)
4) Advertising
We staff frown on people and other staff advertising there websites or other's websites. So, you can only advertise in your own signature and/or in your profile. If there is a thread made that is only advertising, the link will be removed, the thread will be locked, and will be given a friendly warning.
If advertising from same person is continued, warnings or suspensions will be given to him/her, depending on how much they do it.
5) Have fun
This one is self explanatory....just have fun. Whether you have more fun role playing, or just chatting in the general section, just have fun, enjoy yourselves.
RP Rules
General stuff:
1) Profane or Vulgar language will not be tolerated in RP's when not done tastefully. However, if you're character is supposed to swear, then make it one that would be seen in Star Wars.
So if you've heard it in Star Wars, then it's acceptable, such as when Han Solo says "I'll see you in Hell!" that means that Hell is acceptable. In Episode II, Dexter Jester, says "They're cloners. Damn good ones too" so that means Damn is acceptable. Two other common SW curses are "Blast" and "Sith Spit."
Some unacceptable ones, are common curse words in today's society, such as
f**k, s**t, etc...
2) Show Respect. Even if you don't like someone, show them respect, if you have a problem with someone, work it out via PM, rather than cluttering up RP's with insults. (If the insult is in character, that's different, but OOC insults are just childish.)
Character Creation:
1) Your character is not a god, so don't act like it. If you're character loses a limb, it can't grow back, you can get an artificial limb, but no regeneration. You can't dodge everything, you can't never miss, and you CAN'T instantly kill people.
2) Character's shouldn't start out totally decked out in full Cortosis Armor, with 20 lightsabers, and a gun as big as a house. Start small, build up.
3) Jedi, Sith, and certain individuals with the qualifications (such as ex-Jedi/Sith, or Dark Jedi) are the only beings capable of using a lightsaber, without self inflicted amputation. Until you are instructed by one with the ability to wield one, you can't. You can actually teach yourself, but it will take much longer.
4) Try to limit the 'hand me down' lightsabers. Your first lightsaber, most of the time, should be constructed. Unless you are a Sith, sometimes they award their apprentices with a Lightsaber, but in that case it is earned, and not simply inherited, or given to them by family.
5) Cortosis is not an unlimited resource, not everyone get's suits of armor laced with Cortosis, so until you have a lot of money to afford it, or are a high ranking officer or something in a faction, all you can get are simple things, like cortosis swords.
6) You can have personal ships, but don't go crazy. A Bounty Hunter won't have a Star Destroyer size ship as a personal ship.
7) When writing up you're character's profile, do a good job. Don't just say their name, and maybe their home planet, no spend some time on it, and write a good in depth profile. Further, don't just put "Unknown" for the place of birth and all that, unless it really plays a part of the character's history, like they don't even know in the game. Its not like the characters in the story will know what is in the profile.
8) Please don't give your character a title they don't have. So for example, if you are not a Sith Lord or higher, you can't call yourself "Darth." If you are in the Jedi, but not a Master, you can't call yourself "Master." If you are in a military faction, don't give your character a rank you don't have, etc.
10) Try to steer clear of all things canon. Absolutely no cannon characters, or relation's to cannon characters. Don't use Canon names, canon' looks, (Though you can be similar, have some originality people!) etc. None, make up your own stuff, instead of just borrowing things from Lucas.
12) Combat/Lightsaber forms take a long time to learn, let alone master. So none of this "I know every form" crap.
13) Try to downsize the ancientness of your characters, ancient characters that have been around for thousands of years, are really not that great. Mostly they just give off the image that you think you're better than other's, because your character has been alive for 2,000 years longer than their character.
14) Alignment matters. So if you're a LS Jedi, and you use Plague, it's not only going to take more energy than it would to a DS Sith, but it will effect you. Not only does alignment change regarding your actions, but also it effects your abilities with the force. No one can master every single power, if you focus on one side, the other weakens for you, if you switch to the weak one, the more time you spend on it, the weaker your previously strong side becomes. The only powers that are unaffected by alignment are the core/universal powers. So, just know that if you tend to use both sides of the force, you will not be as effective in one side, as someone who focuses on that side specifically.
15) Force Sensitives should try to be kept to a lower number than non force sensitives most of the time. You are allowed to have as many characters as you can handle, but out of all those characters, only a few (even two is plenty for anyone) should be force sensitive. (If any)
General RP stuff:
1) Keep the OOC chat to a minimum. In RP's, you should never post a post, that has all OOC, but no RP. If you want to speak to someone OOC, then PM them, or do it in General Chat, don't clutter up RP's with it, it's a pain for the Mods and Admins to clean. That is what "RP Discussion" is for!
2) No super weapons of any kind.
3) When having big battles/wars, be realistic with you're forces. Both for ground and space conflicts, keep in mind that RP's with thousands, hundreds of thousands, and yes even millions of ships, are both implausible and stupid, so don't even go there.
4) No destroying planets/systems. The most damage you can do to a planet, is heavy bombardment of it's surface. You can essentially waste a planet, but it will not cease to exist. (If you want a planet destroyed for RP purposes, PM the staff first. If you get their approval, then you can destroy the planet.)
Fighting/Death(s):
1) If you are killed, you can't suddenly claim that it wasn't you. (like it was a clone or robot or something) If something like that is the case, it must be made clear BEFORE the fight takes place, so all know what's involved. In the RP sense, they won't know it's not you, until "you" die, but in OOC sense, they will.
2) All attacks/assaults, have to be counter-able, meaning, you always have to give the opposition a chance to respond. So you can't just totally own someone in a fight, or take an enemy planet, with no resistance. (If this is negotiated with the opposing party beforehand, for say dramatic effect, then it's different, otherwise you can't auto hit/win.) Though please notes with some power differences like between a Sith Lord, and a Jedi Padawan, it can't really be helped, the Lord would mop the floor with the Padawan no question.
3) If a force sensitive character is killed, they may return as a force ghost, but will have no ability to effect the corporeal world. All they can do to influence things, is speak to those still living.
4) If you are hit with a blaster, it's most likely not fatal unless within 5 meters (15 feet), although it should definitely hinder you, if not put you out of the fight altogether. If you are shot in the head...unless you have a helmet of some kind, you really don't have much of a chance of survival, regardless of the range at which you were hit from.
5) If you are hit with a melee weapon (not including lightsabers) your opponent should specify where it will hit, and how serious the injury will be. (if it's not obvious, like a stab to the throat..is obviously fatal)
6) If you are hit with a lightsaber, your opponent, needs to specify if it was a glancing blow, or an actual hit. If it was an actual hit, something is going to be severed or at least severely cut. (UNLESS...you are wearing a cortosis weave armor, then it may not cut through.)
7) If you are a force user, keep in mind your skill level. If you are a Jedi Master, you can use more powers, use them more efficiently, and prolong their effects, but if you are a youngling, you can't use as many powers, as well, or as long. Simple as that.
The Force:
1) Past Mentor's/Family Members who used the force, do not mean you can utilize it with any skill. Why? Because it requires real training from an appropriate teacher to learn to control the force effectively, whether it be the light or dark side. You can teach yourself, but it takes a lot longer.
2) If you're character has not received training from the Jedi or Sith, or any force sensitive for that matter, they can't use the force without training themselves, which takes a long time. Even if they are force sensitive. They must learn how to do it, before they can do it.
3) Learning new powers takes time, and effort. So you better have good posts for learning new abilities, not just "I learn force speed" no, you should explain how, and all that. If you say you learn a power like the example, it will be ignored, and if you attempt to keep using the ability, you will receive a warning.
4) Some Powers are restricted to various sides, and even classes. For example, a Sith Maurader's Rage ability, is only usable by Sith Mauraders.
5) All you're abilities/Powers need to be listed in your character's profile. If it's not listed, you don't have it, so if you try to use something not in your bio, it can and will be ignored.
6) None of these massive destruction powers, such as the infamous thought bomb, those are the very definition of god-moding, so don't even go there.
7) No destroying planet's with the force, killing hundreds in one move, or anything like that.
8.) You may create you're own force powers, however don't go crazy, and try to keep them in line with what would be considered Star Wars.
Factions:
1) The hierarchy of individual factions, is essentially up to the leaders of said faction. Although all will have a definite hierarchy that they must post, for everyone to read.
2) Unless a faction leader decides to, there is no rank jumping in any faction. So you can't go from a soldier in the Republic, straight up to a Admiral, unless the leaders of the Republic, decide to promote you in said way.
3) To faction leader(s): Don't award those who really don't deserve it, even if they are you're friend. If they are not competent enough to be an admiral in you're fleet, don't make them one. Pretty simple. Feelings may get hurt, but tough cookies.
4) Again, no super weapons. This includes: Super-lasers, Death Stars, Sun Crusher's, Dark-Saber's, etc...
5) Keep Fleets/Armies reasonable.
7) If you want to start your own faction/cult/group/whatever you want to call it, go for it, but don't expect it to receive its own forum unless it becomes noticeably large. Make sure you explain what it is, and it's purpose.
Companies/Businesses:
1) You are allowed to have a business if you wish.
2)You may do whatever you wish to start your business, as long as it's plausible in the RP world.
3) You can attempt to achieve monopolies, if you are that slick of a business person, what's to stop you? However, you are still under the jurisdiction of the Republic, so if you drive other's out of business, they are free to petition the senate, and if the senate rules in their favor, you must comply, or lose you're business.
4) You must list what you have at all times, so you can't suddenly just say you have something someone asks for, if you really don't have it.
5) You are allowed to set your own prices of course, but do not set them ridiculously high, or low. You can have sales, and mark ups as you wish, but don't have any of the permanent prices be too high or low. The RP is not fun if people can't afford what they want, or if they can buy a fleet of star destroyers with 50 cred's. So for example, I shouldn't have to pay 500 credits for a basic vibro-blade, but I shouldn't be able to afford a land speeder for 25 credits, see?
6) You are allowed to give discounts to specific members, or faction members, whomever you wish, but again, don't make it such a ridiculously large difference from everyone else's price that it's just dumb. So for example, if say I wanted to buy a building from you, and you didn't like me, you'd charge me $100,000, but you'd only charge you're friend $1,000, no that's too much of a discount, instead charge him something like $95,000 or something. Pretty easy concept really.
Money:
1) Money will basically be used off hand, meaning we're giving you the benefit of the doubt that you do have the money you say you do, but don't be dumb about it. If you have a butt load of money with no explanation, then its not going to fly.
And that concludes the RP rules. SWRPC reserves the right to change/modify these rules at any time, with or without notice.
