NOTE: Participation in 2007 Comps will be FREE!

During the discussion/vote for "Comp Prizes" many of you were against prizes, but supported the idea of Points Series Awards..

NOTE: Participation in 2007 Comps will be FREE!

After researching pricing on trophies and plaques I discovered that they are very expensive. The only way to have awards is to make "Points Series" part of the BENEFIT of supporting SERCRC.com. About $20-25 per year.

NOTE: Participation in 2007 Comps will be FREE!

I think this is a good compromise for those in it for fun and camaraderie, and those who want a little extra something to work for thumb.gif

NOTE: Participation in 2007 Comps will be FREE!

hey fish, how much did you get quoted? also were you looking for plaques for the winner of each class for each comp? or just the season point series? i have a friend who owns a trophy shop and if i can get an idea of what you are wanting i'll look into it and see if we can get a deal

For the entire 2007 Season thumb.gif

My Goal would be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
for 2007 Point Series in 2.2, Super and Combined.

9x Total

Etched plaques like TLTRyan won at the Scale Comp

Maybe even etched Glass or Acrylic for 1st Place.
Kinda looks like a rock thumb.gif

One way to save alittle money would be to do away with the combined trophy for each comp. Have one for the end of the season, but not each comp. Just my 2 cent.

IMO I still think we should ditch the "combined" thing.

Did anyone really pay attention to the combined scores last year? I'm pretty sure we're the only club out that that even recognizes a combined point series leader. But really it would mean three fewer trophies we would have to buy which would make buying trophies 1/3 less expensive.

I have a little proposal or proposition, or what ever you call it.

In my metal casting class I have to do a project where I make my own mold and cast it out of aluminum, bronze, or iron. I was thinking that I could either design and cast some type of plaque or trophy for our point series.

For a plaque, it could be in the outline shape of a rock (similar to what Fish posted of the acrylic one). It could have a 4x6 indention for a photo and what ever words at the bottom. Like KILLERTXT 2.2 SERCRC POINT SERIES CHAMPION 2007.'

For a trophy, I could do the top design as the outline of a truck or a tire. The base could resemble a rock and have a blank face, so that a plastic faceplate could be glued to it. This would make it easier to use the trophy at anytime, not just for a specific event or award.

I need to know whether or not I should do this by the end of this week, because next week is my spring break and I will be making my mold during that time. If you guys have any ideas, or just think I should scrap the idea please say so. I was originally planning on making some scale chassis side plates, but this idea just came to me and I think it would be pretty cool.

I don't know how many I would be allowed to cast, but I don't think my teaching would have a problem with me making 3 or more. And I could do some in aluminum and some in bronze.

I will post a picture of one of the things that I have cast once I get home on friday.

hey sven , that sounds pretty cool. I would give it a thumb.gif . I do remember one of the west coast groups that had trophies with different themes like a tire or something along that line. That would also cut down on spending costs on the other trophies (which i still have to get a quote from a guy when i go home next)
