Title: Scale Trail Class disscussion
Fishmaxx - January 22, 2007 03:38 PM (GMT)
Later today Scale Trail Class rules will be released. 90% of the rules deal with minimum vehicle requirements class rules, and the bonus system that rewards more scale trucks with a "BONUS" points that are deducted from Course/Trails portion of the competition. The Course/Trails scoring will be handled exactly like rock-crawling with a few addition rules for winching, vehicle recovery, etc.
The rules were set up to reward scale vehicles that are generally street legal, and might see out on the local trails any given weekend. Extreme vehicles that might be found on some off road competition, 4x4 website or off road magazine are not what this class is about. No specific rules were made against these types of vehicles........they just won't get very many bonus points thumbsup.gif
These for (4) trucks competed at the recent Scale4x4 Competition in Augusta, GA, and not all of them will be legal in our Scale Trails Class.

For now I am not telling you which ones :flipoff:

Look forwarding to seeing your setup Fish. I wish I could make more of the events but this dang thing called work always screws me up.

I had a little part in the making of the rules. Let me just say that they're awesome and I think everyone will be very happy with them.
Now it's time to build something!

Highmark and Rindaen definitely had the biggest hand in getting them done. They applied their 1:1 and RC skilz to come up with some awesome ideas. Rxcrawler and Syco also came up with some good stuff that we used. Badd, Pinchflat, Destroyer, and BrandO also put in their 2 cents. I just stitched all the ideas together.
If you don't like them then you definetly can't blame ole Fish for that, and if you do I'll just blame one of the other 8 :flipoff:
:thankyou:

What was the reasoning behind the 36" winch cable limit? The more cable you have, the weaker the winch becomes. Not to mention 36" is rarely long enough.

Didn't want people winching through the entire course in 1 winch.
What is your suggested length?
Destroyer - January 23, 2007 04:43 AM (GMT)
I dunno....I never winched once at the Scale Comp, but when I drive around the yard, I am rarely close to something solid. I'd say 4ft would be ideal. Then I'd only have to cut my cable about a foot or so. :retarded:
Highmark - January 23, 2007 04:47 AM (GMT)
Yeah the cable length rule is there for two reasons:
#1 As fish said we don't want a person winching through an entire course or a large section.
#2 If we let people winch 5 feet every time they feel it neccesary it's going to eat up alot of time.

on the subject of 36" winch line . it willbe up to course builders to make sure you can get hooked on to something . (rock , tree , bush or whatever) I think everyone worked hard on the rules . some may need to be twicked but it is a very good starting place . this shouldbe a fun class !!!!!!!! thumbsup.gif

Me and highmark talked about this and if nothing else we will place trucks where we feel a winching will be needed or you can get a buddy to pull up for a winching point. thumbsup.gif
RXCRAWLER - January 23, 2007 05:37 AM (GMT)
Or we could just get someone to step on the line. Not very "scale" but it works.
Highmark - January 23, 2007 06:05 AM (GMT)
Finding a viable winch point might also be a good 'scale' challenge aswell.
Remember, there's not always a spot to winch. ;)
But really, I have some stakes here that we could hammer into the ground if it comes down to it.

I'm going to start a scale insurance company. You sent me $10 a month and I fix your truck if you wreck it. :P

Hey that might be a good deal if that includes the replacement parts.
Fishmaxx - January 23, 2007 04:43 PM (GMT)
