Title: Link Flop

clodnutz - September 7, 2006 11:44 PM (GMT)
Running a clod based rig (4-link set-up) The question is: I am running conical washers on DuBro Heavy duty rod ends and R/c Guy lower shock mounts on the lower links-but the shocks seems to make the the links shift/flop one side or another,(looking on end) seemingly putting the link in a loaded position. I want the added articulation from the conicals, but is this flop/shift normal ? If I hard load (thread them down) the shocks, they will stay "floped" on one side, but just wondering if this was right or not
Thanks again

I had the same thing happen I had to tighten the links and ends down and loctite them to keep them from moving.

Or...

I know where you can buy a Pimp Cane chassis for cheap, & avoid the whole issue of shocks & links... ;)

I had the same problem when running bent links on my clod. I also use the Bubro monster rod ends. My solution was to pop the ball out of one the rod ends (I chose the chassis end) and run a large ( I used a 10-24 I think) screw through it. It prevents the link from twisting too much, yet still allows decent flex because the other rod end still works.
