Winter was dawning upon the beautiful lands of Fierrona, these lands were a safe haven for all wolves. They were not cast into seperate lands, they lived as one. But as the winter grew harsher the wolves grew angry at each other, they blamed each other for the winter that was yet to come. Often fighting inbetween themseleves, they split, a group of wolves later to be called 'The rogues', broke away from the group, they would not join in with foolish fighting. The group of rogues found there own lands, and split away from there once 'group'. They were filled with hatrid, for everything, they would steal away pups and raise them on there own, only to desert them again. Other wolves walked away on there own, they were called 'The Loners'. After the fight between themselves, they decided to live on there own would be better than in a group, these wolves were independant, yet scared of what may come. The wolves that were left grouped together and made a pack, no ones knows how they agreed not to fight, but they found it easier, if they were together, they could fight the winter. As the winter came, wolves were dying, of starvation or they froze to death. The pack found dens to stay in while the winter grew harsher and harsher. Until the winter never ended, it was unforgiving, merciless. The wolves became weak, the game had left there lands, far across the other side of the mountain. They could not hunt, so they could not survive. The wolves were almost demolished by this winter, until it began to fade, the winter had lasted over six months, killing almost everything in its path, almost. A few wolves from each group survived, but the Fierrona descendents were the last to recover, only seven out of the twenty strong pack survived. But most of those seven were dying, ill, weak. Only one of them brang hope, it was the youngest, and thought to be the weakest wolf in the pack, known as the Omega. But he brought hope, he was faithful to them, even though they bullied and attacked him. His name was Kelri. Kelri often went out, nearly everyday to hunt, he brought along the Alphens pups that were now 1 year old to help. They caught mainly deer, that had made there way back to the lands. Most of the pack recovered, apart from the Alphens. The pups often cried around them, as they lay sickened by the weather. The alpha male, Feron, stood weakly, his eyes dim, and his breathing harsh. He walked out with the Omega, sat with him in the moonlight and spoke.
"Kelri, once i am gone, like you know i will be very soon."
Kelri dipped his head in sorrow, though the alpha was often unkind to him, he was fair and brave, a good leader.
"I would like you, to be the Alpha, Serina and I, want you to be Alpha and choose an Alphena."
Kelri shook his head and stepped backwards, he couldn't be Alpha, he wasn't like Feron at all.
"Yes Kelri, you will be Alpha, look what you have done, you have helped the pack gain strength, you WILL be alpha."
Feron had stepped up to Kelri's face now, snarling, his eyes brightened a little, his old self shining through his appearance. Kelri stood and winced slightly, and stepped up to Feron, he wouldn't have done this, in his life, but, Feron was dying and he couldn'y show weakness.
"Feron, i will do as you wish, but for now, you are the Alpha."
Feron curled lip to show his old, yet strong pearly white teeth. Feron growled slightly, whether it was in approval or to make Kelri angry he didn't know. But the words that came out next shocked him.
"It will not be that easy, Kelri. You will fight me for this place, as any other would have to do. I am dying, yes, but don't let this fool you, i have learnt a lot in my time, and have watched you grow. I know your strengths and weaknesses. Kelri, you will fight me."
Feron snarled at him, aware of the presence of other wolves, they would witness this as much as Feron would. Feron growled deep from his throte and nipped Kelri on the flank. Kelri growled at him but shook his head, replying simply, yet foolishly.
"Feron, i will not fight you, you will die naturally, peacefully, im not going to kill you."
Feron laughed suddenly-his voice cracked and harsh.
"You will not kill me? My boy, i don't think you could kill my even if i was just about to die. I knew you were weak, Kelri, so be it don't fight me. But someone that can, will be the alpha."
Feron had this plan set up in his mind already, to anger Kelri, would make him fight. He turned quickly and snarled at him, walking slowly back over to his mate, Serina, he let out one last remark that would make Kelri, really attack him.
"Kelri, you are weak, as were your parents, i watched there pethetic lives die in the winter, i should've known you would be like them."
Kelri snarled in anger-he had, had enough of Feron's teasing, if he wanted a fight, then he would get one, Kelri lost all respect he had ever had for Feron. Leaping forward kelri flew into Ferons flank, biting hard and shaking his head wildly. Feron snarled loudly and bared his fangs, pouncing onto Kelri he bit into his maw, biting deeper. Kelri growled loudly and retreated, his blood-soaked maw dripping. Ferom stepped back slowly, until they were both running at eachother, front paws erady to scratch and there jaw open widly to bite. The conflict was loud and bone-chilling, the sound of cracking bones sounded through the forst. But who was the surviver? Feron snarled loudly, Kelri's body lying limply on the ground, Feron stepped back slowly, his eyes glazed over and distant. Kelri let out a loud moaning sound and tried to sit up, but he gave up and rested his head on the ground, he stood quickly, panting, his eyes seemed to grow small in worry. He watched as Feron fell to the ground, limping over to him he whined loudly, going into a submissive position. Feron snarled at him, and spoke.
"You do not comfort your enemies, remember that."
They were his last words as the last breath rattled out his maw. Kelri sank back into the shadows slightly, he killed the alpha. Turning his head sharply to the sound of a mournful howl, Serina had raised her head, calling to the Gods. The other wolves howled back, and the cubs that loved Kelri so much, shrank into there mothers shadow in fear. He whined slightly and stepped forward, Serina, walked weakly towards him, and spoke quietly in his ear.
"Kelri, you are Alpha, choose your mate wisely, and look after my pups, for i fear, this is my last night too. I will leave now, tell my pups, that i must go, for the Journey to the Gods."
Kelri lowered his head, it was a sad night, for all of them, he nodded as Serina padded of through the trees. Not a sound, or a movement after she left, apart from Kelri, he sat down slowly. Lifting his head to the heavens he howled, some say he howled for days on end in sadness. Some say he became a God, those stories are true, once he died, his spirit remained in the lands, he watched on his pack, and all the ones around it. Other spirits joined him, but his mate didn't come, this saddened him deeply, but, at least he wasn't, completely alone...
