Ta-da! An argument to attempt to prove that Amy Rose's origins are so crappy that she shouldn't be an existing character today.
------------- Sonic CD, an entry into the Sonic series just before the release of Sonic 3, introduced two characters: Metal Sonic, a creation of Dr. Robotnik's, and Amy Rose, the typical damsel in distress that signaled the beginning of the end. While Metal Sonic was an admissible creation of the good Doctor, Amy Rose was a tell-tale sign that SEGA was giving to the "fans" and paying little to no attention as to whether or not their attempted stories would actually be sensible within the game. As it was implied to the player, Metal Sonic is supposed to be a robotic equivalent to Sonic and is Dr. Robotnik's latest-and-greatest creation. Instead of using it to attack Sonic or the planet itself, he chose to kidnap one Amy Rose. This and a second decision to revolve his entire evil scheme around kidnapping her make absolutely no sense! Why would Dr. Robotnik waste Metal Sonic's obvious power on the simple chore of kidnapping a defenseless peon when there are literally thousands of badniks at his disposal capable of doing the same job? Why would he want to kidnap anyone in the first place when using his latest gadget as a potentially lethal weapon is quicker and more effective? If kidnapping is honestly his intent, why is he choosing a brand-new obsessive fangirl over the established friend, Tails? While he may be able to defend himself a bit better than a clueless fangirl with his accessibility to transportation, that's a minor inconvenience for a robot built to rival Sonic's abilities and a maniacal genius. After all, even with his "Save Everybody" complex, Sonic would much rather rescue his friend than some chick who just recently started her stalking career. The idea of an entire plot to rule the planet consisting of simply snatching up a random damsel in distress with the highest-end technology available in an attempt to lead the hero to a predetermined location is ridiculous. Dr. Robotnik is not the type to waste his time on baiting Sonic from location to location using pretty princesses. If he had the "kidnap somebody" mentality, it would be used as a mindless diversion (suitable for a typical badnik) to keep Sonic out of his way rather than a full-blown cat and mouse game. Furthermore, for such a diversion to work at its full potential, the victim would have to be someone who Sonic knew and cared about (thus willing to follow the badnik around for as long as Dr. Robotnik needs) - not an infatuated girl whose existence was only acknowledged by him due to the fact that she was following him around with little hearts over her head. This plot merely serves to conveniently place Amy in the center of the mix instead of more realistic approaches and make her appear far more important than she truly is in the eyes of the player, her hero. Therefore, Amy Rose's only purpose is to be a poor plot device and satisfy the description of the stereotypical Japanese fanboy's hopelessly devoted fantasy girl. Since Sonic CD, Amy was seen in comics, future television shows, and future games as the girl who was always following Sonic due to her undying love for him. How shocking. --------------- Sorry about the length. :P This is a portion of an essay that I wrote concerning the Sonic universe. Depending on your responses, I might just make the essay available for download when it's complete. (Keep in mind that this is the rough draft of the Sonic CD argument.) |

In other words, Amy is a crazy fangirl who decided to stalk Sonic and if some angst filled man got in control; The next sonic game would have one very insane stalker Amy who decides if she can't have him she's uselss in life and quits life.
But ofcourse we all know that won't happen as SEGA listens to the fans more then themselves. |

You mean SEGA listens to the psychotic tweens who want more Shadow, correct?
I don't really know how to take your response. Can't tell if it was for or against my argument :P |
