(Created by gurglebunny based off of a book by Koushun Takami)
As part of a ruthless program by the totalitarian government, highschool students are taken to a small isolated island with a map, food, and various weapons. Forced to wear special collars that explode when they break a rule, they must fight each other until only one "winner" remains. The elimination contest becomes the ultimate in must-see reality television across the country. It's been 13 years since Shuuya and Noriko (for those who have read the book) escaped the program. While their efforts may have brought more people standing up against the government, Program 68 still continues. The basic rules are as follows:
1. There can be only one winner.
2. You may not be in the HQ Forbidden Zone.
3. You may not be in Forbidden Zones after they are announced.
4. You may not leave the island.
If, for any reason a player or players break these rules, you will be killed instantly.
For the new Program, however, the government decided to spice things up. New rules are as follows (in addition to the rules listed above, unless otherwise noted):
1A. Students will be paired in teams of two, effecting rule 1 (two may survive).
2A. If one team member dies, the other is not eliminated.
3A. Two members from different teams who have lost their partners may NOT become new official teams, however, they may unofficially fight together.
4A. If one team member is killed by violating a rule, the other team member's collar explodes.
All rules are final, are rules are finite. The class is selected at random out of all schools in the country. This years pick is Loir Detached High School, Class 3A. (More rules will be explained in the story. Hang tight).

Arc leaned back in his chair, resting on the desk behind his. It was 12:15. Lunch time. He'd forgoten his lunch today, so he just idled. He was staring out the window onto the lawn three stories below. Some lower classmen were playing soccer outside. Arc didn't have much of an athletic bone since he quit the baseball team. He slouched his head on his hand with his elbow on the window sill. He sighed and his stomach gurgled.
"Beck!" came a yell right beside him as a pair of hands slammed on the desk. Arc jumped and slipped backwards, but saved himself by grabbing onto the very window sill he was resting upon. He looked up accusingly to his friend, Dan Hollister slamming a paper in his face.
"What now, Dan?" Arc replied. Recently in the past, the Government outlawed rock music throughout the country. They said it provoked "violent asperations in the youth." Durring a talent show his sophmore year, he got up on the stage with Dan and another one of his friends and did a song by the band Beck, that was obviously rock, without announcing it to the teachers. When he was taken to be disaplined, he just kept stating that it was alternative, not rock. Unhappily, the teachers let him stay at school. Since then, most of the kids referred to him as "Beck". Dan continued.
"They're having a camp for those interested in lingustics! I know how much you like language." That was true. Arc had dreams of becomeing a language history professor at college level. Arc took the paper from Dan. He examined it.
"This isnt just a camp for that. Look here. It's a list. 'Linguistics, writing, science, sports, art and outdoorsmanship.' Anyone can go," Arc explained.
"Ooooooh. Well, we should go together."
"I dont know man..." Arc handed the paper back. Dan looked disappointed, then got an evil grin.
"You could ask Amira to go with you," Dan said, coyly. Arc got a jolted expression on his face and slowly turned to Dan. "You know all the things that happen at these camps, eh?" He continued. Dan raised his hands in the classical "Whatever" pose. The classroom door opened and three girls walked in. "Speak of the devil," said Dan. The three girls that walked in were Olivia Hollister, Amira Hart and Dorsha Peterson (respectivly). Arc had been crushing on Amira since 9th grade.
"Oi! Sis!" yelled Dan, waving to Olivia. The three girls came over. "Did you guys hear about this awesome camp?"
"Duh. We already signed up. You guys better hurry, the deadline is today," Olivia responded, chuckling. Dan and Arc looked at each other, then jumped up from their desks and ran out of the room. Ovilia gave a pathetic look.
"Man, they're idiots." The other girls giggled.

'Linguistics, writing, science, sports, art, outdoorsmanship, open to anyone...' "...hmm..." Kitri studied the sheet on her desk. "Well, as long as there are enough counselors to keep everybody under control, I don't see why I can't go," she finally said, looking up at the boy standing in front of her. "Who knows, I might actually learn something!" She giggled, then frowned. "Sorry, bad joke; I haven't had very good experiences at camps before. Anyway, where do I sign up?"
"Out in the hall, on the bulletin board," the boy replied, "but you'll want to hurry; the deadline is today, and many people have signed up already. If you don't hurry, you might not be able to go." Kitri nodded, getting up quickly and swiftly moving to the door and out.
Wham! Kitri fell back, rubbing her head and looking at the person she'd accidentally run into. "I'm really, really, really sorry," she said, apologizing profusely.
"It's all right," the man said; he wore a black suit with a white shirt and had on tinted glasses. He was standing right next to the bulletin board and was about to take down a sheet when Kitri noticed the title: "Camp Signup".
"Oh, er, excuse me?" she started politely. "Is there any room left on the sheet?" Taking a pen out of a pocket and fiddling with it nervously, she waited as the man looked at the sheet.
"Yes, there are a few spots left," he said after a moment, moving to the side so Kitri could get to the sheet.
"Thank you, sir!" she exclaimed gratefully, providing the information requested on the sheet. "Name, Age, Home Phone Number, Next of Kin...huh?"
"Oh, that's supposed to say, 'Parent/Guardian'," the man told her.
"Ah." Kitri signed her name with a flourish, looking at a few of the other names on the list. "Ooh, Arc, Dan, Olivia, Amira, Dorsha...a lot of people I know are going." She turned to leave, but then looked back at the man. "You might want to wait; a bunch of people here are procrastinators, so even if they want to go, they might come late. Since there are still spots left, you might as well wait for some more people to fill up the last slots."
"Thanks for the advice," the man responded, nodding. Kitri smiled and walked off, blissfully unaware of what was to come.

"God, I swear, if i have to take one more exam, I'm going to flip out," Jack mumbled to his friend, Adam. They were sitting in front of their lockers, waiting for the next bell to ring. And of course, it was time for the final exams so everyone was stressed and studying like mad.
"You mean you haven't already," said Adam sarcastically. Adam was a tall, slanky boy, with short red hair and his face was covered in freckles. He really wasn't studying or helping Jack study, mainly because he was the "brain" of the sophmore class. So he had his nose buried in a book. Adam always got straight A's and never failed his tests. So he was ready for any exam a teacher threw at him.
"Yeah well-" 'BBRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIINNNG' "Eh, theres the bell, I better hurry to Mr.McMillan's. His room is a mile away," Jack mumbled as he scrambled his books together and got up from the floor. "Later man," Adam barely said, still reading intently.
Jack ran, still fumbling with his books, desprate to get to McMillan's class. 'If you're late, you fail,' said a voice in Jack's head. It was Mr.McMillan's, and it was right, Jack couldn't take another bad grade.
He screeched to a hault in front of the room, and there was the tardy bell. 'Heh, just in time,' Jack sighed. When he got in the classroom, Mr.McMillan, a short, plump man with wild blonde hair was already walking around the desks, passing out the exam to the students. "Glad to see you can join us Mr. LeFluer," growled Mr. McMillan, "now sit down and take out your pencil.
"Yeah, alright...."
Jack walked out of the school, very worn, about to walk home. The finals defientially did a number on him. 'I didn't even know half the answers,' Jack scolded himself.
"Hey, hey Jack!! Wait up, I want to show you something before you leave," yelled a very sweet, soft voice. Jack spun around, and blushed to see who it was. Victoria Webber, the girl that Jack has been crushing on the whole semester. She motioned Jack to come back to the stairs in front of the school.
"So, have any plans for the summer," Victoria asked casually. Jack turned bright red at this," Uh, not that I know of. Why?" "Almost everyone is going to this amazing camp!" Its away in some kind of forest, and has plenty of things to do," she explained and then handed a sheet of paper to Jack.
'Linguistics, writing, science, sports, art and outdoorsmanship,' it said in bold print. And most of the rest was in really small print, that Jack didn't bother to read.
"Cool, where do I saign up, he said enthusiastically. "Inside," Victoria said sweetly.

"But mom I don't want to!" said Jytix.
"Come on now honey, its got 'Linguistics, writing, science, sports, art, and outdoorsmanship' and its open to anyone and that includes you!" replied Jytix's mom over the school pay phone.
"But....." replied Jytix as he was cut off by his mom.
"Now sign up or I will make sure that your life turns into a living hell!" she said as she hung up.
"goddammit" mumbled Jytix under his breath as he put his name on the list.
As he put his name down on the list a schoolmate named James walked up to him, James had always had a thing for picking on Jytix, but knew that Jytix could beat him up anyday.
"You're signing up, of all people you're signing up" said James sarcastically.
"Got a problem with it?" replied Jytix coldly.
"No, not really, I just didn't think that they allowed losers to camp" teased James.
But Jytix wasn't in the mood, he shot James an evil look and said enticingly "say it again, I dare you."
"Sorry Mr. Sensitive." James said sarcastically.
Jytix was going to beat him up right there, but James took off running and after a second he realized why, the bell had rung "ah, crap" he was late again.

"Hmm, what should I bring?" Kitri knew that she couldn't bring everything she would have liked to, so now, things strewn all over her bed, she was figuring out what she'd need most.
"A compass, mirror...ooh, my GPS receiver!" She held up the electronic device. "With a few modifications, I should be able to get it working off a solar-charged battery." Setting that aside for later, she continued to look. "Lipstick...when will I need lipstick?" She tossed the small tube over her shoulder.
"Flashlight and extra batteries, definitely...oh, yeah, that solar-powered recharger I made will be useful, too; after all, most sleep-away, outdoor summer camps don't have readily available electricity."
She continued, adding something else to her "take" pile every once and a while. "Yeah, bug spray would be a good thing to take. And sunscreen, too. Ugh. I can still remember the last time I got sunburned." She scratched her back as she remembered it; her back had been raw and peeling for weeks afterwards.
Finally, she leaned back and sighed in relief. "Well, that's done." She picked up her GPS receiver and walked over to her desk, which was cluttered with different mechanical and electrical pieces and parts. "Time to work on this, I guess," she said as she grabbed a screwdriver and began unscrewing the object's case.

Jack slouched down into his chair, in front of his computer. He figured that since he was going away for a little while, that he may as well update his blog. But for some odd reason, he couldn't figure out what to say on it. There was so much swirling through his mind. 'I could talk about how the coolest girl in my grade finally noticed me today,' Jack thought, 'well, I dont really want to seem desprate or anything,' he contradicted himself. 'Maybe the camp...'
"Damnit! The camp," Jack yelled as he sprang out of his chair. He forgot completely to pack for tomorrow. Jack opened his closet door and took his duffel bag out and threw it on his bed. He opened his trunk at the foot of the bed, and peered into it, just to find a pile of dust. Jack slowly reached into it, hoping that there wasn't any spiders in there. He took out his father's old sleeping bag and a partialy gone camping kit. Jack groaned, "There isn't even a first aid kit in this thing..." But thankfully he did find a few matches and a knife. But, he set the knife aside on his desk. Jack knew he wouldn't be using it.
Later that night, Jack was lying in bed, staring up at his celing. Each moment that passed by just got him even more excited for the camp. All of his friends were going to be there, even his crush. Nothing could go wrong. Nothing at all... then he fell into the deepest sleep, he has been in, in the longest time.
