Since nobody reads livejournal anymore, this topic is going to be my own personal journal about the novel and my thoughts on the whole process of writing it, as well as sharing some ideas.

PLANNED STRUCTURE AS OF NOW

Chpt 1: Simulator scene - Reuben called to Doc Bromley
Chpt 2: Doc Bromley's office, Doc reveals he's chosen Reuben to be world's first time traveler.
Chpt. 3: Two parts. Lubby dubby romace scene between Reuben and girlfriend Holly. Reuben goes to bed later with dream sequence.
Chpt 4: Time lab scene. Entire accident transpires.
Chpt 5: Accident aftermath with time lab team
Chpt 6: Reuben finds himself in a forest, meets Malcolm. Learns he in Scotland 1278. Malcolm mistakes him for a magician. Is taken to city of Perth.
Chpt 7: Reuben meets king Alexander III. King requests the retrieval of stolen royal heirlooms.
Chpt 8. Preperation for journey. Reuben meets Alicia, a virtual clone of Holly and Malcolm's. Alicia and Malcolm both journey with Reuben.

Things start to get fuzzy here. I'll flesh them out more as I get to them.

- Some exposition about Lord Makdowall and his magical powers
- Reuben gets a warning from a magical being
- Visit to Stirling
- Visit to Glasgow

then onward to all the Makdowall Manor crap. Don't want to get too ahead of myself here.

Map I made of all Scottish locations in the novel. Makdowall Manor is a ficticious location set near the real town of Lochwinnoch.

Currently I'm writing chapter 3. I've already written the dream sequence half and am having trouble with the first quote-unquote love scene. I've never written any romance... anything before. I want it to be significant, yet not cheesy or LOOK AT ME LADIES, I'M A LOVE SCEEEEEEENE. Anyone got any tips?

Maybe go on a date.
I know it's tough for us writers but it's always best to get some good ideas for any idea by actually going out and doing it.

Otherwise you can read some romance novels or just go with with feels natural for the characters.

MAKE REUBEN A ROBOT. THE SEX WILL BE ALL LIKE "LEFT, DOWN, ROTATE SIXTY-TWO DEGREES, ENGAGE ROTOR"

Read three paragraphs of Twilight dialogue.

Now write the exact opposite of that.

Had a fun idea today that I'm pretty sure I want to put into the book. As established from that map up there, the route Reuben and his companions travel will be from Perth to Stirling to Glasgow to Lochwinnoch. The town of Elderslie just happens to fall in between Glasgow and Lochwinnoch. Elderslie is also the wildy-believed birthplace of William Wallace. In 1278 he'd be about 6 or 7 years old. Might be fun for Reuben to encounter kid Wallace. He wouldn't make the connection as to who the kid is, though.
