The Future, What's it gonna be like?

Here's a game to start some discussion... What do you think the future will be like?

The game goes like this: You list three movies set in the future; one for each of the following questions.

1) What do you hope the future will be like? - This movie explains what kind of future you want to live in. Best possible scenario.

2) What do you fear the future will be like? - This movie explains what kind of future you don't want to live in. Worst possible scenario.

3) What do you expect the future will be like - This movie explains what kind of future you think we will be living in. Most likely scenario.

Feel free to explain and expand on your choices, reasons, etc. You can also list books, TV, comics, or other works of fiction.

I'll start:

1) I hope the future will be like Star Trek.

2) I fear the future will be like The Matrix.

3) I expect the future will be like The Fifth Element.

Reasoning:

Despite the Federation being a complete communist state, Star Trek has replicators, so they don't have to deal with limited resources and communism works. I'd be glad to live in a communist state, as long as there's unlimited resources. I want to live in this future because holodecks are a billion times better than a PS3, and what happens on Risa stays on Risa.

I hope that the future doesn't turn out like the Matrix because I don't want to be a battery, and even if I didn't know about the reality of the world, it's still just like the current world inside the matrix, and this world is boring.

However, I fully expect the future to turn out like the Fifth Element, because we keep getting better technology, but human nature stays the same. We're all lazy, horny, and greedy so the future will be full of ads, stores, flying cars, instant chicken, and crazy skimpy clothing.

I want to be a cartoon but i doubt that would happen and space cars would scare me because peta would be all over new fuel sources so we dont pollute the world which would then make the cars not work and then they would also try to make us just use corn and maybe someones alergic to corn and then what huh huh?!?!? Also they scare me because i would be in a drive by then what i couldnt jump out of the car without going to my bloody death because it was on fire.

1. WW3 occurs, governments collapse, human race loses most technology, we thus lose most abilities to destroy each other and ruin the Earth.

2. WW3 occurs, we all die.

3. WW3 occurs, the world is united under one order, we are then forced to conform to a worldwide facist gov't.

I mean, I don't expect our technology to be as extreme as it's portrayed in movies.

Wowserz, I actually agree with you for once. We all know that WW3 will happen eventually, so we have to look to it. I just hope that it doesn't happen in my lifetime.

Reasoning?

Master of Orion has humans leaving the confines of earth and exploring galaxies, meeting other alien races on the way. Assuming that we can establish diplomatic relations, I would think that it would be a very interesting scenario.

Fallout? Let's see: Post WWIII? Check. Humanity trying to rebuild? Check. Humans NOT deciding to throw off their differences for the sake of our collective future? Check. Sex, drugs, and violence? Check, check, and check.
...Wait, can I hope and fear simultaneously?

To support my actual projection, I see the world being ruled by an evil tyrant(maybe not a supernatural one, but...) and huge populations living in cities, while not so many people live in the countryside, clinging to a simpler life. Also, you doesn't want to meet the Scottsman?
