Title: I hate my Wii

Moose - September 2, 2008 12:39 AM (GMT)
Yeah I hate my Wii... I am sick of all its gimmicks. So, I am going to sell it and buy an Xbox 360. Anyone want to recommend me which one I should go with and which games?

Oblivion - September 2, 2008 01:25 AM (GMT)
I think I'm the only guy here that has a 360 (not counting guys like Sithlord and MM). Anyway, I'll give you a basic rundown.

The best model out there is the Xbox 360 Elite. Not only does it have a 120GB hard drive, HDMI cables and a much more badass look but it also has superior hardware than the original 360. Meaning that it's not likely to go Red Ring of Death on you. The problem with the Elite is the price which comes off at $450.

If you're not willing to pay the extra $150 for the Elite, then go for the 20GB version. It's almost basically the same as the Elite. The only problem is that it's more susceptible to Red Ring of Death and other hardware failures. If you're gonna go for this one, buy the extended warranty with it. My 360 sufferred from aforementioned RRoD but was able to replace it thanks to the warranty. And also, the 20GB is $300 which is only $50 more than the Wii.

Basically, if you want to play your 360 without fear of ANY hardware failures and are willing to fork over $450 then go for the Elite. If you don't wanna pay $450 then be cheap like me and buy the 20GB model and once again, be sure to buy the extended warranty in case you get any failures.

As for the games, I haven't been up to date with the recent installments for it but games like Halo 3 and Gears of War provide an awesome online and offline multiplayer experience but are pretty bland for single player. There's also Bioshock if you're a solo gamer. On the other hand if FPSes aren't for you I'd recommend games like Mass Effect and Soul Calibur 4. Finally don't forget upcoming games like Fable II, Rock Band II and GH: WT.

Yeah I've got a deal in order to sell my Wii for about $300 with a couple games, so I can sell the rest and hopefully get enough for the elite, or I'll just pay the other $150 because money isn't too hard to come by for me at this point.

Meeko - September 2, 2008 03:27 AM (GMT)
I'm buying a 360 tomorrow purely for Tales of Vesperia, Infinite Undiscovery and eventually Star Ocean 4...

I can afford the elite, but I'm cheap as hell so I'll just get the basic.

Nice, I'm also a sports junkie so Madden will be on the top of my list.

RaveDuck - September 3, 2008 12:55 AM (GMT)
ROCK BAND

ROOOOOCCCKKKK BAAAAANNNNNDDDDDDD

The DLC on rock band is the best for any game on the xbox.
We downloaded the "boston" pack and the "jimmy buffet" pack

Try gears of war if you don't like rock band so much. Good game.

Superdude66 - September 4, 2008 08:54 PM (GMT)
Gears of War sucks and Rock Band is dull VERY quickly.

derek - September 4, 2008 09:08 PM (GMT)
Castle Crashers

Seriously, that shit is tight.

Lord PichuPal - September 5, 2008 05:33 AM (GMT)
I hated Gears of War, never got into it because of too much gore and shit like that. Seriously, I can't even tolerate listening to that game let alone watch it (that's how squeamish I am). As for Rock Band, I love that game. I'm planning to get the sequel over Guitar Hero World Tour once I get myself a Wii, which is if I ever can get a job.

But the 360 does have a lot of good games, I guess. I don't pay much attention to it other than sports since I'm a sports junkie as well, and the only reason I have it is my brother. So I actually don't know much of anything about the system's library, so I can't help much.

Price drop, cheaper than wii.

I still say Wii won this time around. They managed to net TONS of non gamers as well as the Nintendo fanboys

Well, it's true that they've been making gamers out of non gamers. The problem is that while they're focusing on the non gamers and casuals, the core Nintendo fans are getting left out. The only thing the actual Nintendo fans have gotten is Brawl and Mario Kart Wii. Granted they're good titles but they could've been a lot better (especially Brawl). What's even worse is the fact that the most hardcore title we're getting this year is Animal Crossing (if you can call it hardcore). Regardless of that, Nintendo's still rolling in money so they probably don't care about their actual fans anymore D=

And Twilight Princess. Granted, it wasn't as good as Ocarina of Time, but as a sometimes-quazi-hardcore Nintendo fan, I was pleased with the direction after Windwaker.

I think Nintendo is aiming more for the non-gamers, but they haven't left their die-hard fans completely in the dust. I'm really happy to see the re-release of some of the old "hardcore" games that were japan-only in their original release (see: Ys) getting new life via virtual console.

Oblivion - September 7, 2008 01:11 AM (GMT)
Apparently I forgot the "this year" in between "gotten" and "Brawl and Mario Kart Wii" X.X

Otherwise I would've mentioned Galaxy which was a damn fine game.

Lord PichuPal - September 7, 2008 08:08 AM (GMT)
It's true the Wii has had more focus on expanding the fanbase beyond all their loyal fans, which is a good marketing strategy. But as mentioned, they are releasing some good titles still for us long-time Nintendo fans. I do still wish that Brawl would've had Raichu in it as a trophy, sticker, cameo, or even the longshot character. But again, they left out the far-better Pokemon compared Pikachu and shitty Jigglypuff. Not to mention wasting space with Toon Link.

Nintendo has been around for much longer in gaming, so gotta cut them some kind of slack compared to other companies. Maybe next system they'll put focus on all the fans they just got from the Wii, which wouldn't be half bad.

The only thing I didn't like about TP was the shield making it a bazillion times easier than it should be.

What's that?
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of Jigglypuff killing you so hard.

Lord PichuPal - September 8, 2008 09:06 AM (GMT)
Jigglypuff was quite frankly the dumbest choice they could make for a character back when the original Smash Bros. came out. I'm surprised they kept bringing it back each game while getting rid of others they tried (like Pichu, who was possibly my best character on Melee). I realize some people like using it and think it's great, but I'm not one of them. I mean, Sleep is its only real good attack and if it fails you leave yourself completely vulnerable. Not to mention it's a terrible Pokemon.

trombonefellow - September 8, 2008 10:17 AM (GMT)
The Friend Code thing was such a stupid idea.

Also PichuPal, Jigglypuff's rollout attack can be quite unforgiving.

WOULD IT BE ABUSING MY POWERS IF I BANNED HIM?

blizzaro333 - September 8, 2008 11:50 PM (GMT)
Jigglypuff was in the original smash bros because it was considered one of the main pokemon in the show. Jigglypuff is a great edge gaurder. Rest is a great wild card move. Pound have good range. Jigglypuff's aerials are pretty good too.

Pichu sucked in melee its a pikachu clone thats weaker except for skull bash. And it damages itself with certain attack. He's lightweight too so he's easy to kill too and combo on.
Ya were getting kinda off topic here.
