Nice tutorial :)

halfDemon - March 11, 2006 07:05 PM (GMT)
Not bad, it could use some explanation.

Opacus - March 12, 2006 03:35 PM (GMT)
Where's the contrast?

WAZU_1G34RTRN4 - April 22, 2006 07:50 AM (GMT)
Lol, SW is obsessed with contrast. No offence

Dark Rogue - April 22, 2006 08:58 PM (GMT)
What do you mean? He IS contrast.

And I agree with him.

CrimeHawk - April 22, 2006 09:12 PM (GMT)
yes, it does need some contrast, but for something like this you don't want much contrast or it won't give it the smooth look
~matt~

Rayne - June 6, 2006 03:58 PM (GMT)
I think it looked perfect.... and contrast is color difference right?

tomster 785 - August 28, 2006 11:49 AM (GMT)
ya, also it odes need a tad more contrast

zeid - September 11, 2006 05:24 PM (GMT)
The good old' bunch at Sprite Art have covered this one nicely, with the exception it's a glossy sphere. Just remove the 'Glossy' bits.

Hope they dont mind me using this quick edit to get my point across. Anyways its a rough example of what i mean by get rid of the gloss.

Sprite Art

Chessmasterriley your example is nice, but the end product does look a little flat, i find this can be due to different computer screen settings. If you decrease the luminosity of the darker reds it would look alot better, I wouldn't think you would lose the smoothness too badly, if people refrain from dithering in this situation it will look smooth, if you dither it will look more matted e.g. the edit i've shown.

"the good old bunch" ... "Hope they dont mind"

heh, its not a 'they' its a he. St0ven is pretty dang good.

Dark Rogue - September 11, 2006 07:57 PM (GMT)
Really? St0ven is all of those people? =/ Fiction, I guess.

Does that include Tsugumo?

tomster 785 - September 11, 2006 08:01 PM (GMT)
no tsugumo isn't him, if st0ven was tsugumo why would he take the trouble to make a whole new site for the one tutorial?

That's some pretty sweet ambient lighting, Joseph.

zeid - September 12, 2006 02:46 AM (GMT)
Yeah that’s nice Joseph, But just to re-iterate the sphere I showed was just a quick edit of the one used in the example to show what I meant to "get rid of the glossiness and make it look matted/non-shinny" so I wouldn’t say it was mine.

Wow I hadn’t actually considered that all those people could be st0ven, I had gone to the site ages ago and recalled that it had a lot of nifty tutorials. It certainly is impressive though, and it does explain why all the names except st0ven’s don’t really seem to be web-aliases.

Here's how mine looks: user posted image.

Wow! Those tutorials are helping me!

Joseph - October 22, 2006 03:05 AM (GMT)
its okay, however its an oval, not a circle, if you hadnt noticed that. also, make sure you check the dates of the topics. you've revived two old topics now, please read the rules before posting. its not that it isnt allowed, but also notice that the older topics have older drawings, and in most cases, the artist has gotten better, meaning this isnt the best tutorial out there.

silent sniper - October 22, 2006 03:48 AM (GMT)
i made this wit stovens (teh guy from SA) tut a while ago user posted image
