So I wanted to jump onto this almost completed project programming wise (usually a good way to make sure a game you're going to work on gets finished) and offered to redo some of this guys graphics with a proper pixel art touch. So I went about redoing some armor (LEFT: MINE, RIGHT: HIS):

(I will admit the blue and green shields are a bit too shiny here)

But this is the part that pisses me off: He honestly believes the right column IS better looking and I can't seem to explain to him how low contrast and pillow shading conquers over hue shifting and metal that actually shines. To top it all off he even showed his pals on his forum and they agreed with him about this. I will admit this isn't top notch stuff but they are better right? Or am I just going crazy?
C&C appreciated while you're at it.
Also, humourous e-mail quote I got from him:
"this has a much more glowing style. Like plastic
on tree"
I couldn't explain to him that plastic is less shiny then metal in general. (D=)
