Title: Pixeling Program
Description: From Sodahertz
Joseph - September 21, 2006 10:33 PM (GMT)
If you dont know, sodahertz is the proud owner of
LiveDesigner.
Bryan (brainware) and I are starting a pixeling program which, so far, will include these features:
zoom up to 20x
grid system
child windows
different size and shape brushes
onion skinning
animations (unsure about limited frames)
circle tool
rectangle tool
fill tool
undo, redo
saving as png or gif (gif as transparent and/or animation MAYBE)
text (maybe)
left and right click colors
customizable palette (able to save/load/clear)
This topic is created to get ideas from you for this program. Also, we need a name. A catchy pixel sounding name. If you want to design a logo as well go right ahead. (the logo will also be pixeled) The entire interface will be pixeled as well so if you want to come up with a theme or two, go ahead.
You may think this has almost nothing to do with a "community project" but it does. Not only am I getting ideas and such from you, but in return, you'll all recieve of beta version without signing up. Although there is a catch...as long as we use at least one of your ideas, you'll get a free beta version. All other beta testers will be randomly selected from a list of 30 and only 10 will actually test it. 10 plus whoever wins here.

i'm not really too fond of right and left clicking... maybe a feature that could make it so right clicking picks up the color you click on? (like GG)
just and idea

No, I like on MS Paint how you can have two different colors and you don't have to change it.
GIF transparency A MUST if you can program it.

yeah, i said make another part where maybe where it says help, edit, file, etc. you could have a feature that changes it or something

the left/right click is one thing I hate about GG, so in place of that (and what I forgot to mention above) we're going to make it so you can hold control, itll change your tool to an eye dropper, and you can left/right click to pick up the color. the eye dropper will also be as a clickable tool along with the rest.
we always use N_Menu.dll for File, edit, view, help, etc. in all of our programs, and this one has to have it. dont worry about that part.

Ah, like GM. The only in-function function I wish the GM sprite editor had.
Good luck, I actually have LiveDesigner on my computer.
This is being made with GM, correct?

Don't know if you've considered this yet, but mine that I've been making for about a year now (First Release was October 27, 2005), has the following that you haven't listed.
- Layers
- Built-In File Browser
- 8 Custom Color Palettes
- Extended Palette Tools
- Palette Generator (Creates 10 Shades)
The GUI in it is built off of the tutorial found
here.
Anyways, good luck.

I like how you can have THREE different colors in MS Paint selected at once. Do that.

I wish i could use this thing, it sounds soooo!!!! cool! but ill prolly have to wait a while eh? after all the tests are dun and i get some $$

yes, this and livedesigner both were created with gm. by the way, livedesigner has been updated, beta version 2 is now taking sign ups somewhere...check the topic.
we may include layers, but we would have to figure out a workable system first.
the file browser is a no-brainer, so I didnt think I had to say that one...
LiveDesigner already includes a palette generator including ~50 shades.
This may seem like an impossible or very hard task to create with gm, but (trying not to brag) bryan is absolutely amazing with it comes to gml. some of the most amazing creations ever made with gm has come from him...he just doesnt spice it up and release it. (for example, he made a card game (speed) in less than two hours. Programming the entire ai with around 500 lines of code in less than an hour.)
Anyway, I know now ill be getting pro motion on the 27th (this month-my birthday) so that'll help me with more ideas.

if we sell this, it wont be right away. we dont even know if we'll sell livedesigner yet, although its the best and most advanced userbar creater in the world. (besides photoshop itself)
could you explain how those three colors work and how to use them in paint? ive seen that I can change it, but never found how what its for...
EDIT:
nevermind about that...just found out myself. we'll figure out something like that. sorry, but that doesnt really count as an idea, since its already existed.
tomster 785 - September 22, 2006 08:21 AM (GMT)
is it just me or would this NOT be a pixelling program if it had the circle tool, square tool and all of those brushes, it would just make it a photoshop if you ask me ;)
Joseph - September 22, 2006 12:39 PM (GMT)
brushes would include a 1px up to maybe a 10px...no fancy things. if we wanted to make another photoshop, we could, but no.
and the circle and rectangle tool? how does that have to do with photoshop. they will work exactly like mspaint's.
Sohashu - September 22, 2006 12:57 PM (GMT)
I have a few suggestions.
A wide pixel brush.
Being able to change the bits. (like 2 bit, 4 bit etc.)
Picture in picture.
Yeah.
tomster 785 - September 26, 2006 11:34 AM (GMT)
maybe it could have a function of restrictions, like C64 or something, or a NES
Dark Rogue - September 26, 2006 01:37 PM (GMT)
Or if they just had set palettes, that'd be nice.
Something that would automatically change probably isn't that good. If that's what you mean.
tomster 785 - September 26, 2006 02:46 PM (GMT)
yeah, thats what I meant, plus the restrictions, like it would have an 8x8 square where only two colors were allowed like inbuilt calculator type thing (for hi-res C64)
