why not just get all those pixelart from the 'Completed Forum' (there's a bunch there, some are unused) and collect them and organize them into categories and later into a cd.

ask some permissions from the creators though....

Dark Rogue - September 6, 2006 07:49 PM (GMT)
He's asking for clipart, like stuff you put on websites or documents. Just random things in categories.

But, what you said could apply as well. I dunno.

What would the point be? If we made a lot, and they were really good, we could sell it.

But then, we'd have to split the money up between everyone who helped.

teej - September 6, 2006 07:52 PM (GMT)
yeah maybe lets make it a community project.. although one already exists for
sprites. well this one is for cliparts right?

but that would take us a long time to fill up a cd since pixel arts arent the big in file size.

tomster 785 - September 6, 2006 07:55 PM (GMT)
so like if there are alot and they are good someone could make the cover (I have photoshop so I could (never use it in pixel art though)) and I have a load of DVD cases put the PC-CD-ROM on the top like you get for every pc thing then sell it in shops and so on and say every so much the money is split up

I would say this idea is a bit ambitious; who'd buy ours when there are CDs created by groups of proffesionals with more clip art?

tomster 785 - September 8, 2006 03:35 PM (GMT)
well we could always put two disks to it? and we are near pros (except me) indigo is a pro

Dark Rogue - September 8, 2006 04:00 PM (GMT)
That doesn't really answer our questions.

tomster 785 - September 8, 2006 06:36 PM (GMT)
well see my post before that, that should answer your question and my last post answers HD's question (sorry if I've mistyped anything at the moment, I'm really weak from a lack of food for the day (I've only had breakfast at lik 7:00AM and it's 7:00PM))

Erm, not answered.

First, let's figure it this way. Most normal, burnable CDs are 2GB. Ok, so the math:
1000kb in an MB
1000mb in a GB
So 2000 MB in a CD
So 2,000,000 KB in a CD
Most pixel art is (at least for clipart, which I would say... max 200x200?) (and in the biggest file size of .bmp) is about 120kb
so 2,000,000 divided by 120 is...
*gets out computer calculator and divides*
16666.66

SO THAT MEANS 16,667 sprites AT LEAST for one CD
2 CDs being AT LEAST 33,334 Sprites ;)

So yeah, lol, you have fun with that :P

tomster 785 - September 8, 2006 08:25 PM (GMT)
well it would make someone more willing to buy if it is in large numbers and it was good then I would buy it myself

Dark Rogue - September 8, 2006 08:35 PM (GMT)
Now, how would we do SHIPPING costs?

There's a lot more to things than just making pixels and selling them.

You have to think on WHERE to sell them, and we can't obviously sell them worldwide, and we'd have to split the profits between EVERYONE who helps.

A lot of effort for something we'll get 3 bucks for.

tomster 785 - September 8, 2006 08:40 PM (GMT)
in big numbers we divide it between each other or put it in a shop near you (he he he, bad pun) and we get the money from that shop

Dark Rogue - September 8, 2006 08:55 PM (GMT)
Like I said, we'd have to split up the money between us.

And where's the pun? =/

tomster 785 - September 8, 2006 09:02 PM (GMT)
coming in a shop near you (coming in a cinema near you) (yeah I know crap)

There's about what, 20 active people here? So rounded, we'd have to do 1,500 clip arts each. You willing to do that, tomster?

off topic

btw, what type of cd is that? as i know a cd can only store up to 800MB

halfDemon - September 8, 2006 09:50 PM (GMT)
Yeah, mine are 800 as well.

CrimeHawk - September 8, 2006 10:00 PM (GMT)
Are u serious? lol, mine can hold 2GB each nah nah *sticks tongue out* :P at least... i think they can, lol, i'll have to go check again, lol.

*goes and checks*

My bad! lol, well 800MB times 1000KB divided by about 100kb per thing is still 8000 pixels for one CD!

20 active people at the forums... 400 pixels per person... maybe getting 3 bucks? Rip off ;)

on topic

i say lets forget about this for a while and continue
doing pixels as much as we can... then lets go back to
this topic a year after....

getting it to commercial wont be a nice idea though... unless if we have
really good quality pixels...

and from what i see, this community is like an
apprentice... like a young bird learning to flap his wings... its like, most of us
here is still in a pixelling junior high school

'Cept Indigo, that is.

teej - September 8, 2006 10:11 PM (GMT)
although i can see progress and improvements to some of the members
members who have been active here for so long.... like SW, DR, Monstagames, etc..

so lets take our time...
it takes time to learn and master pixelling
