Details have been finalised, they are:

Date: Wednesday 18th April - Thursday 19th April 2007
Time: Meet at London Waterloo Station @ 7.15am

We'll be travelling on the Eurostar from London Waterloo to Paris. The train will take just less than 3 hours. We'll then have two days to see the sights including the Eiffel Tower, Catacombs, Montparnasse Tower, Montmartre, Notre Dame et La Grande Arche de La Defense. We'll stay the night in a hotel and return to London late on the Thursday evening.

This thread will be kept up to date with places to visit and is the place to make your suggestions.

The cost will be £50 each for members. This price includes return travel on the Eurostar and accommodation for the night. Non members are welcome but will have to pay full price.

We've decided not to include the cost of travel from Loughborough to London and back because many of you will be travelling from home. For that reason you'll need to buy your own tickets to get yourself to London. You can either travel with a group from Loughborough or may choose to meet us at London Waterloo at 7.15am.

What to bring:
Passport
EHIC (if you have one, card that replaces E111 forms)
Camera
Tripod
Small bag for your belongings - you'll need to carry it with you at all times
Spending money (in Euros) for food/drink etc. a Metro ticket, entry to attractions i.e. Eiffel Tower is 3 Euros(~£2), Catacombs, Montparnasse Tower etc.

I want to come, what do I need to do?
You need to attend this Thursday's trip meeting. You'll need to bring with you the full £50 in order to reserve your place and fill out a quick form.

Meeting: Thursday 15th March @ 7.30pm in the Stewart Mason building foyer (the new building on the end of James France).

Notes:
1. We need to make the bookings ASAP, but we cannot begin to do this until we have received all money from members. For that reason the deadline for payment will be Thursday 15th March 2007, at the end of the trip meeting. If you cannot make this meeting but would still like to come, you must arrange to meet us before the meeting with full payment.

2. Places are limited and will be booked on a first come, first serve basis.

3. We will be booking Youth tickets on the Eurostar. These are only available for those aged 25 or under on the day of travel. If you will be over 25 on the days of the trip but would still like to come, please email photosoc@gmail.com.

If you have any questions just ask, please email photosoc@gmail.com biggrin.gif

Right, how can we get to London in time for this? The earliest train from Lufbra gets in at 7:15, I doubt I can get across rushhour London in 0mins.... blink.gif

We need to check-in no later than 30 minutes before departure, so if we get the 8.12am train there's plenty of time. I said 7.15am to make sure everyone is there in time!

Last year 4 of us drove down and split the cost of petrol, overnight parking at Waterloo and congestion charge between us (<£80 in total) which was much cheaper than a return train ticket from Loughborough. If someone has a car and is willing to drive we could do the same again.

Thuy: I'm trying to remember how much I took last year. I will get back to you on this. smile.gif

Also, it says we need to bring a small bag for belongings because we'll be carrying it around. Will we not be dropping it off at the hotel?

Small bag...I don't look this good by just bringing a flannel! tongue.gif

Adrian and I will book the hotel tonight. We're hoping to get a cheap hotel in the Montmartre area with rooms of 3 and 4. Hopefully they'll have their own bathrooms. Oh and breakfast. I'll post the actual details later smile.gif

Small bag means whatever you can carry. It's only 48 hours so we don't need to take much at all. Also, making a detour to the hotel takes time. When we've sorted the itinerary I'll let you know what the plan is. smile.gif
