Shea walked into the Gryffindor Common room through the portrait with her broom in hand. It was night time so she tried to be as quiet as she could. Being an animagus fox walking quietly came easily to her. It seemed like lately the only time Shea could think was when she was on her broom. She had lost all track of time and would proabaly hear about missing dinner from her friends.

Laying her broom down on the table next to her Shea flopped down on the couch. So much had happened already and school had only started several days ago. It seemed to be hyappening so fast that Shea wasn't sure she could handle it all. Maybe the fact that she'd be losing most of her friends sooned had finally sunk in but she didn't know. Groaning she placed a pillow over her face and muttered, "Why is this so hard?"

The fire crackled sending more heat out as more burn caught on fire. Over the crackling of the fire a creak could be heard closely followed by another. Shea knew right away that someone was comming down the stairs. Taking the pillow off her face she pretended to be asleep. Many a people had fallen asleep in the common room so no one would think anything of it.

James wandered into the common room from the outside. He had his invisability cloak on and began to head up the stairs. A loose board creeked and James looked around to see if anyone heard him. He notised that someone was trying to hide on the couch. He slowly snuck up on the person and then realized it was Shea with a pillow acting like she is sleeping. James gave an evil grin and then aimed his wand. Useing wordless magic he made a fountain of water flow directly at Shea"s head.

As soon as the water hit her Shea sat straight up sputtering. This was the second time today someone had attacked her with water. Coughing some Shea looked around not seeing anyone. Whispering Shea said, "James you can come out now, I know it was you."

Shea Accio'd a towel from upstairs and began to dry her hair. "What are you doing up this late anyway?" she asked slightly muffled by the towel. When her hair was some what dry she placed the towel beside her broom.

James luaghed as she jumped up and he pulled his cloak off. "Ok you cuaght me, and by the way I am headboy so what are you doing up this late?" James replied with a tone of sarcasm. He did not care what she was doing or if she was up. Everyone knew he was teh master of sneeking out. "Shouldn't you be getting ready for that Charms test you have tommorrow. I heard about it from Scott Richards."

"Please don't get me in trouble Mr. Head Boy. I promise I'll do anything you want just please don't get me in trouble," Shea exclaimed looking terrified. Laughing she flopped back down on the couch. Smiling she told him, "I have personal reasons for being up."
Stretching her arms up over her head Shea yawned, "Forgot about that test. Oh well won't be the first test I've winged." Looking up at him Shea couldn't help but smile like some stupid school girl with a crush.

"You forget about a test? I would have never guessed." James exclaimed with a mischevious smile on his face. "Well I have a Transfigureation test tommorrow but I never need to study for it I know it all." He hopped over the couch and set next to her. He gave a wave with his wand and the fire began to change colors.

"You know me too well," Shea remarked as she shifted and rested her head on his lap. Watching the fire turn different colors made Shea realise even more that he was older then her and would be leaving soon.

"Well now I'm not the only one who doesn't study." Shea remakred yawning. Staying silent for sometime Leara's words popped into Shea's head. If she was gonna tell him the truth now was it, though taking it slow sounded good. "Hey James," she started to ask mentally panicing at why she was doing this, "Why are you single? I mean every girl is pinning over you. I guess it's just odd that you're single."

He began to run his fingers through her hair and then her question came. He looked at her and smiled slightly trying to hide his reaction, "Well I guess....I guess I have just not found the right one." He watched the fire and said, "Why are you still single? I mean you are great. Your beautiful, intellegent, every guys dream." After that last part he realized that he should not have said that.

Shea closed her eyes and smiled. Everything around her was like in a dream. Opening her eyes after his responce Shea was almost speechless. "I'm still single because I'm not about to tell my friend I have this secert crush on him. It's be pretty awkard if he turned me down concidering we're on the same quidditch team and in the same house." Sighing Shea had let it out but she was almost positive the hidden message was too hidden.

Smirking Shea giggled at his description of her. "You have to say all those things your my friend, your obligated to say it," she retorted. Smiling she added, "Thanks though, it was really nice to hear that." At his last description Shea stopped. She wasn't expecting that. She went to say something but nothing came out, she just shut her mouth and let it go.

Still smiling Shea told him, "Well I hope you find what your looking for. She'll be a very lucky girl. I have no doubt she'll be devoted to you like a mouse to cheese."

James held her closer and looked into her eyes and spoke slowly and in a clam tone, "Shea would you do me the honor of being that lucky girl." adn before she could answer he kissed her. Not just some little kiss but an honest and true kiss. Not one as friends but one of love.

Shea was stunned. She'd been kissed before but nothing like that. It was as if he really did care. "You're serious?" she asked almost skeptical. Smiling Shea laughed and replyed, "Yeah, I'd love to be that girl."

Laying there Shea still didn't know what to think. She had always though that he would never notice her. That she was just a friend, like one of the group.

"Of course. I never say things I don't mean." James replied to her as he gazed down at her. With peace finnaly in his soul he was able to relax. He ran his fingers through her hair and began to talk to her about how he had liked her for so long but did not know what to do.

Shea laid there and listened to him. Doubt started to grow in her mind. They hardly saw each other except when Quidditch was in full swing. He was always out running around with his friends and she was always with hers. What if this was some sort of sick joke? "I think this may be a big mistake," Shea admited.

Sighing she continued, "We hardly see each other due to difference's in friends and we both know you're married to Quidditch. I'm not going to be some Mistress to a sport nor do I want to sever things with your friends. Maybe we weren't meant to be."

James was surprised in the sudden change of heart. Without thinking he stood and Shea fell to the floor. James Threw his invisability cloak on and walked out the door.

Still on the floor Shea sat up and leaned against the couch. She hadn't meant to push him away but it had lead to that. Pulling her knees up to her chest Shea just sat there and thaught. even after the fire had gone out she was still there.

Eventually she got up and stretched. She needed to talk to someone so she figured she'd go up to the boys dorm and talk to Remus or Sirius. Gathering her things Shea headed for the stairs turning around and looking at the portrait hole one last time.
