Jack Sparrow - Robert Williams - Mad Barnacle Vane

It was good to be back on top of things, top of...her! Jack smirked broadly staring into the distance. Her....the Pearl, the Black Pearl! His beloved. He lovingly stroke the helm with one hand before he took a firm hold of it to move the ship on course. His spare hand fingered his pocket for a bottle of rum. He took a swig from it and raised the bottle into the air cheering freedom. It was almost 2 months now, since his path had crossed a ship of the Royal Navy and just as well. He had his holds loaded with some treasure now and was about to spend it in the taverns of Tortuga.

He took another swig then turned to look over his shoulder at the crew. "Haul on the main brace! Williams, up to the crows nest an' tell me if the port of Tortuga be save for the enterin'..." he glanced to the side where Mad Barnacle Vane was walking up on deck. "get me another bottle of ye rum, me matey.." Barnacle furrowed his brows pointing at the bottle Jack still held in his hand. Following Mad's finger, Jack quickly tossed the empty bottle over his head where it soon splashed against the waves in the sea. Mad Barnacle rolled his eyes. "Rum..savvy?" Jack simply said, the ends of his mouth curling slightly, then his chin raised look up the crows nest, where Robert Williams was spying the coast of Tortuga. "all clear ahoy, captain... just a few leagues to go." "Arrrr..." Jack replied giving the helm a slight turn. "ain't no rum left, cap'ain..." Vane said on his return. Jack looked horror-struck then sighed in defeat: "Why's the rum gone all the time?" and licked his ringed index-finger in the hope of finding a left-over droplet of rum from the bottle he just discarded.

They were about to sail into Tortuga, the notorious Pirates' paradise to alleviate their need for food, drink and especially women. They had been cruising the seas for a few weeks in order to find the treasure of Horror Hollow on a small very rocky island. A difficult task, since it proved difficult to find the island in question. In their desperation for money, Jack had decided to board a french merchant vessel who happened to cross their path. A lucky stroke. The ship had just left the port of San Domingo, having sold most of their goods, so their money-chests had been full to the brim. His hand reached into his coat pocket fingering something papery and crunched, a broad smirk appeared on Jack's face. He'd have to take a closer look at this particular parchment, as soon as he had a quiet moment. A document he'd 'borrowed' from a drawer in a captain's cabin of said merchant vessel. Barnacle in the meantime was taking a firm hold on one of the lines for the top sails pulling with all his strenght to furl it, Williams had climbed down the nest and helped the rest of the crew to slow down the ship. The Black Pearl was slowly sailing into Tortuga port.

((Leenia, one post from you to learn about your charrie, then I'll let them march to a tavern and get pissed ;))
