Everytime someone is asked this, they never really have an answer for it that can be legit (sp?) It either "It's gay" or "It's a kiddy game". Option A seems more like personal opinion or preference than something that can be said as true. Option B however doesn't have much to back it up with. So, what's wrong with it?

Now I will say the anime promotes friendship, health, being considerate, etc way to much or in a way that seems wrong. The products seem way overrated and are marketed at children (like Skarm, ;]) primmary therefore not appealing to the older gamers or ex-fans of the series.

Now, the games is where it gets me. Sure, there were alot of failures to some people of the Pokemon gaming series but there were the ones that made you want a Gameboy. Hell, who has a Gameboy system without a Pokemon game? Some may leave because it changed to fast or the controls weren't right, but if you just stopped playing, are you really a gamer?

Most plotlines are very much the same (Collect 8 Gym Leader badges then defeat the evil team, defeat the Elite 4 and become Champ and collect so many Pokemon) but why should it be different? It's like putting your feet in the shoes of someone else. basically "What IF?" Plotlines. Not alot of originallity as a nutshell, but one must think and research it to understand the creativity.

I can sit down with my nephews and battle them with a team of Pokemon I "raised". How many games let you do something like that that doesn't involve guns or gore? None that I know of. Family Fun. See, I'm spending time with my family that wouldn't have figners pointed at us by Jack Thompson if we did something wrong later.

I don't have much left to rant on about but what are your thoughts of the series as video games?

Pokemon ain't childish in my eyes.

I bought Pokemon XD a month ago and my friend asked: ''Aren't you over that part?''

I simply replied no. I mean, the games aqre great! I don't see much of the amine shows but when i watch some episodes they're pretty cool.

Nope, i think pokemon's cool.

Can't wait for the 4th Generation!

I hate the RPG part of Pokemon. It's childish. And no, I don't think childish because of graphics or cutesy stuff, I mean in simplicity. The AI is hardly a challenge, and there is no plot at all. That's why I only play NetBattle, so I can avoid the 30 something useless hours of pointless wandering around and poorly implemented systems and get right to the battling and strategy.

Pokemon is a great game, the only ones who don't realize that are the programers...

Well, the normal trainers are easy, but damn, those Gym Leaders in Emerald sure give me a hard time.

I think the difficulty is determined by (1) using one Pokemon repeatly for most of the game making it abnormally strong in certain parts of the game or (2) if you have a team of 6 each around the same level and are horribly under leveled compared to the opposing trainer.

I usually use 3 pokemons and you already know how much I hate leveling... Then again experience divided by three pokemons should make them stronger than divided by 6.

Anyways, the problem is the AI will choose attacks randomly, meaning that if they have a scyther it's possible the thing will use false swipe in the last turn instead of actually beating you, see my point? Most of the time the comp's horribly trained pokemons just use stat modifying moves or weak attacks with me though. : \

I never really bothered with the game much. I played it back in third grade. ( Not saying its a 3rd grade game, thats just when I played it. ) Yeah... Good times though. Had a level 100 Charizard and it took me through the whole thing in two hits max... So its all about how you train.

The AI in the portable Pokémon games is simplistic. I mean, it wasn't so long ago that I cleared the Elite Four on Ruby with a single Rattata at level 60-ish... The 'Cube games are slightly better, though. Look at most of the Cipher Admins in Colosseum or the trainers from Tower Colosseum onwards in XD. There's nearly always some sort of pattern going on, even if it's as simple as Earthquake/Protect. If your enemy on Colosseum or XD has a move which is super-effective against one of your pokes, it's pretty much guaranteed that it will use that move against that poke the next turn. On the portable games, you can't be sure of that.

Pokémon isn't an RPG. It looks like one, sure, but what it really feels like is a strategy game.

I agree, Colloseum is on the harder side. I can't give any examples but, if you've played, you'd know.

I could never beat it... Got to the one gym thingy and the one just kept doing the little horn drill move that was either instant ko or miss...
