Personality: Colton can be an easy going guy. Up for almost anything, but he also can be closed off and stubborn as hell. His closed off self comes from a childhood of keeping to himself, and not knowing how to act around others. Though, that closed off attitude seems to disappear once he's around friends that he feels comfortable with. His stubbornness seems to come out when he's confronted with a situation that he doesn't know how to deal with, like his sudden marriage. Colton can be patient at times, especially when it involves a story he's working on. With his friends he's a kind, considerate person.
Background: Colton's family life wasn't bad. He had two parents, a nice house, and went to a good school in Seattle. His parents were around but at the same time they weren't. They weren't abusive, just neglectful. They had been young parents. His mom had been sixteen, while his dad had been seventeen. They had no idea what they were doing, and both their parents tried to help. But, Colton's parents were stubborn and wanted to do things on their own. Which lead them both to get multiple jobs, to pay the bills, their shifts at their various jobs, were set up so that one of them was home with Colton at all times. This led to a bitterness between the two. They never had time with each other or alone. As Colton got older he started to keep to himself more and more, trying to find ways to keep his parents happy and together.

He was so focused on keeping his parents happy that Colton often lost sight on himself. His group of friends was small, because he found himself pulling away from them, to focus on his schoolwork on parents. As he got older he realized it was doing him no good. It was just bringing him down, making him unhappy. He started to focus more on school, throughout high school, shutting his parents out, not that they noticed. They were busy with work or fighting with each other. There were days Colton wondered why they didn't get a divorce.

Colton finally found himself in community college where he got a degree in english. His main focus though, journalism. He has high hopes of working for a major newspaper/magazine one day. Either through his writing or photography. It was what led him to Tree Hill, he's currently writing stories for the newspaper there, barely talking to his parents, he's pretty sure they have yet to notice his absence from their lives.

During a night out, Colton met Amara. The two ended up getting drunk together, which led them to a church. After an hour of insisting they found themselves marry. Of course, it wasn't until the next morning that they realized what they'd done. Colton is now determined to make the marriage work. Sure he doesn't want to end up like his parents, bitter and hating each other. But he has a feeling this could be difference, it could work.
